1. Do you do play dates? Frequency? Not really. We regularly see other LOs at Kindermusik once a week and are starting to go to dinner with some of the moms and kids after class.
2. Outside of preschool/DCP/reading to your kids/engaging them do you actively work on skills? Read are you doing flashcards/sensory bins/other fabulous pinterest ideas. DD is only 20 months, so I'm not doing a whole lot with her yet. We read every night and I do take her to Kindermusik once a week. We also got a membership to a children's museum.
3. Do you regularly allow the time for your kids to do things for themselves (age appropriate dressing etc.)? Because of her age, DD can't do a whole lot for herself yet. I can see her room from the kitchen, so I let her independent play sometimes while I'm cooking.
4. Is there anything that you have done at home that you felt has had a noticeable impact on your child? I try to reinforce skills at daycare and talk to her all the time. She is picking up a lot of new words. She also loves to mimic everything I do, so if I'm cleaning, she "helps."

1. Do you do play dates? Frequency? Yes. I try really hard to do one every weekend. Some with friends whose kids are older. Some with a mommy group with same aged kids.
2. Outside of preschool/DCP/reading to your kids/engaging them do you actively work on skills? Read are you doing flashcards/sensory bins/other fabulous pinterest ideas. We read 3-5 books each night. Puzzles daily. We do flashcards about once a week. I do a special art project with her once a week, sometimes twice. Pinterest stuff maybe once a month but not regular by any means. She's 2-1/2. Very very little as far as ipad learning apps for the time being because she throws epic tantrums when they come to an end. The foam letters at bathtime have helped letter recognition while she thinks she is playing.
3. Do you regularly allow the time for your kids to do things for themselves (age appropriate dressing etc.)? Yes. She insists upon it and I am regularly late on those days. Right now we are encouraging her to go potty all by herself now that she can reach the toilet. She can mostly dress herself and mostly undress herself. She helps cook 2-3 times a week. We have her help set the table and she has to help clean up her toys each night. She helps dust when I do and I will once in a while let her wash dishes(tupperware only!)
4. Is there anything that you have done at home that you felt has had a noticeable impact on your child? Flashcards really helped her language explode. We also try and make a couple outings a month educational and exploit that as best we can (science museum, nature preserves etc).
We are about to do some ASD testing for my DD. While I fully realize that it is not my fault, I do wonder if I am slacking as a parent/could do more to help my kids. I would love to know what is normal for other working moms. I guess I want to know if anyone is pinteresty in real life, and either guilt me into doing more or assuage my minor guilt.
1. Do you do play dates? Frequency? not sure how old your LO is but at 3 or 4 years (answers to all questions), I would do playdates about once a week; Saturday afternoon usually
2. Outside of preschool/DCP/reading to your kids/engaging them do you actively work on skills? Read are you doing flashcards/sensory bins/other fabulous pinterest ideas. I read to my kids, give them age appropriate toys and a great deal of outdoor activity with reasonable time on their own
3. Do you regularly allow the time for your kids to do things for themselves (age appropriate dressing etc.)? where time is not an issue, I will have them do everything they reasonably can; where time is an issue (getting out the door to work) I will move things along as I see fit
4. Is there anything that you have done at home that you felt has had a noticeable impact on your child? DS2 had a severe speech delay, I worked very hard with him for years to overcome that; giving the kids time on their own to figure out how to amuse themselves and outdoor time I think has paid dividends now that they are a bit older
I am adding that I have never once looked at Pintrest for anything related to my kids growth or development. The last thing I need is some edited photo showing me some damn craft that my kids won't have any interest in and will create a big mess to boot.
