Westley David Xin-guang was born this past Wed 4/6!
He was much bigger than I expected at 6lbs 11 oz and 20"!
I had to have a repeat c/s due to breech presentation, so I got up stupid early and we headed out the door early. I was very worried because we had had the shittiest weekend before (credit cards stolen, my IL's proven they are not fit to care for a 3 yr old all day, etc). I started cramping but figured it was worry.
I got to the hospital and guess what? I'm in labor, oops. The contractions got worse as we waited for my surgeon to arrive at 10. We were all hooked up to IV fluids and waiting a while when the call came that the surgeon was stuck elsewhere and my surgery had been bumped to 2pm! SO HUNGRY, YA'LL. They also had to give me an injection to stop the contractions because they weren't going away and getting stronger.
2 hrs later at noon, the contractions started again. The nurses were getting a little nervous and my contractions were right back where we left off. FINALLY the surgeon arrived and I was rushed like hell to the OR.
My epi wasn't as bad as with kid #1, but we hit a snag on the table. They had to call in a urologist, because during c/s #1's recovery my bladder fused to my uterus, and of course no one could have known until right then. They had to cut part of my bladder along the scar tissue to get baby #2 out, and the urologist repaired it right there. I also got spayed while on the table--I'm done, people. Done.
Oh, and the OB checked my pelvis for abnormalities since its incredibly rare to have 2 breech babies for no reason. NOPE! All good! I hit the pelvic lottery there. >
They actually let me watch them pull the baby out of my gut and DH cut the cord!! It took quite a while to stitch me up, much longer than originally anticipated, and I was without baby for skin to skin I got him back in recovery and he nursed like a champ. Because I needed to keep the pee catheter in, I wasn't able to get out of bed for about 2 days (spinal one stayed in, too) and I didn't have feeling in one of my legs.
When's all said and done, I have an adorable baby boy who is basically the twin of Lillian. I was all worried about not being able to bond with him or having enough love (whatever that means) but I can now see my fears were unfounded. I swollen to all hell, I have to wear a pee bag on my leg for almost 2 weeks while my bladder heals, my abdomen is on fire and DH has been bouncing back & forth between home to care for kid #1 and helping at the hospital. I am utterly exhausted and in pain.
Its worth it.
In any case, Lillian is completely in love with her brother. My ILs are making me totally nuts and I've snapped at them a few times. They are just in the way and don't understand when they have overstepped. I can't wait to have my house to myself (end of the month, grrr!) but I love the amount of love that my family is producing. We're like ugly Care Bears with joy shooting out our bellies or something.
I can't seem to get a good photo of Wes, but here are a few. The 2 pics together are DD and Wes, both 2 days old. Twinning!
