Share Your Pregnancy Brain Stories

I had my first noticeable instance of pregnancy brain last night so I thought it would be entertaining to share stories.


I was running the entrance/raffle ticket table at my cousin's Jack and Jill last night and a guy gave me a $100 bill to pay for $35 worth of tickets. I had such a hard time making the change for him!! I'm a numbers person and generally really good with making change but it was a legit struggle to give him the right about back!! And the math was so easy!!

One of my aunts caught the whole thing and thought it was hilarious. I hadn't even attributed it to pregnancy brain until she started laughing and telling me about how she remembered the same thing happening to her when she was pregnant.

At least I can blame it on the pregnancy! I was a bit embarrassed at first.

I don't know if I suffer from pregnancy brain or regular mom brain. Both I'd imagine. It manifests itself in ways such as putting my car keys in the refrigerator or hunting for my coffee cup for a half hour only to find it in the mircowave. I remember returning to work after having DS with two different shoes on one time. No idea how I managed that.

I haven't had anything so far this pregnancy, but while pregnant with DS1 I legit lost my car in the target parking lot. I was like 8 months with a giant belly, pushing a cart full of stuff, wandering around the whole lot pressig the key fob trying to get my car to beep. I had no idea where my car was and it took forever to find it. Embarrassing!

This is so well timed! I use a drip system to make coffee. You have to put the drip cup on top of your coffee cup, then fill with water. Yesterday,, I totally poured in boiling water without putting he dripper on my cup. It just poured all over the counter and onto the floor. H couldn't stop laughing at me for ages.

singingsea, I found my keys in the fridge yesterday and I'm still not sure if it was me or DD that put them there...

I can't think of words, especially the correct ones. Last night I told my husband to "please change the mashed potatoes... I mean... Toilet paper.... UGH DH what is this called?!"

Last pregnancy, I left the car running in the garage for over 3 hours. Almost went to bed when I went to the garage to see why the dryer was running... It was super scary.

That is scary! I'm glad you caught it before you went to bed!

I put my bottle of pop into the freezer, and then searched for it for over an hour. I was right in the middle of drinking it and for some reason I just threw it in there. WTF. I found it a few DAYS later.

This about sums it up, yea.

I find myself in the middle of a sentence, particularly in meetings, suddenly unable to remember what the hell I was talking about.

This morning I answered my work phone and was totally, completely unable to function. The guy just wanted to talk to me about the meeting room I'd asked him to swap me for. It wasn't a complicated conversation.

I am dropping everything! One day DS even said "what are you doing Mommy?" I don't need your judgement DS!

+1 for forgetting simple words and dropping things.
If I have two things in my hand, one for trash and the other one not for trash, I usually put the not for trash one in the trash.
We sell oral hygiene products at work. I tend to charge people for their products and then not give it to them. That's always fun. I'm sure there's more lol I have a feeling this thread will stay alive throughout our pregnancy ha!

Oh yes, I remembered this gem: during my pregnancy with DD, I was unloading the dishwasher and realized DH had accidentally put dirty silverware into the clean stuff. So the totally rational thing to do was throw the whole basket of silverware on the kitchen floor and burst into tears. DH totally laughed at me for that one after the fact.

With my first I was trying to figure out why I had so many Facebook alerts one morning, turns out, it was my birthday! We'd already celebrated it the previous weekend, so I just didn't notice the actual day.

Here's one from today. A few weeks ago I switched hours with my coworker. We talked and texted about it last week and I even thought about it this weekend. I totally spaced out and came to work at my normal time. I was 2 hours earlier than I was supposed to be! I'm sick a ding dong. I made good use of my time and went to lunch then bought a new purse at TJ Maxx.

I was checking out at the grocery store and saw a Dr Pepper in the mini fridge at the register and it sounded amazing since I was super parched from shopping... The girl asked if I wanted it left out and I said sure, then I thought "Ughh I should really have her put it in a bag so I don't forget it, no wait, I'll throw it in the diaper bag!" Then it was time to pay and leave. I got everything loaded in the car and DS strapped in, look for my drink and I couldn't find it!!!

I was so pissed, I called my mom and DH to tell them how stupid I felt and that I wasted the money, but I wasn't unbuckling him to go back in for a drink. So On my way home, I stopped at Sonic to get a Dr Pepper because at that point it was a MUST!!

2 days later I found the damn drink in the bottom of the diaper bag...

Also, at dinner, apparently I stopped talking mid sentence and had no clue I was even talking...

I put some diapers to wash and the. A day later couldn't figure out why we didn't have enough. I asked my husband to start a load of the dirty ones. He comes back from the washer and says there are some in there. I totally forgot I put them in there and left them sitting.
