Ok my stupid question, my landlord is coming to inspect/service the fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, is it unreasonable to ask him to remove his shoes? We are a shoe-less house, besides the kitchen, and he'll be walking all over. Do I just need to get over my germaphobe tendencies for a bit?

I would tell him you generally don't wear shoes in the house and would he mind taking his off while he's there. If he says no, I'd just deal with it. But he may not mind taking them off so it doesn't hurt to at least ask.

theotherjacobsons I didn't think about it being a safety thing, good point. I figure, he'll at least be happy that we're keeping the carpet nice by not wearing shoes on it haha

I agree, it can't hurt to ask but he may not agree to it, serendipity731. You could always get some of those disposable shoe cover things to have on hand too?
serendipity731, that's a though one. We don't wear shoes in our house, but I grew up in a house where anything goes. My parents keep their shoes in our house and I couldn't care less. To be honest, I would feel uncomfortable to ask someone to take their shoes off. Some people might be uncomfortable with not wearing shoes. Just my two cents.
So we are flying to NYC in two days and have been telling DS about it. This is the conversation I had with him this am:
Him: are we taking the plane today? Me: no, in two days Him: the baby here yet? Me: no, not yet Him: sigh Me: do you want to watch Peppa? Him: yay!
Ugh. I feel like death today. Stomach issues, bad night of sleep, etc.
Then H calls from work to ask me to call the OB's office because they've got an outbreak of foot and mouth at work and he's not sure whether he should just take time off/work from home or not to reduce my (and baby's) risk level.
Anyone got insight on that? I'm waiting for the OB to call me back.
pismoduo, my son had hand, foot and mouth disease a few weeks ago. My husband took him to our GP for the diagnostic and mentioned to her that I was pregnant. She said it wasn't an issue. I had look it io online before and she confirmed what the Internet has told me; there are no risks to pregnant women.
ETA: adults don't really get HFM because pur immune system is equipped to deal with it.
Hope you feel better soon pismoduo , and hope the HFM stays away from your house!!
This is the third or fourth outbreak at his center since he started working there 6 years ago. So we're pretty used to it by now. Better than lice, at least. *shudder*

Thanks. That's what Google is telling me too. But knowing H, he'll want to hear it direct from someone at the doctor's office.

Hope you start feeling better and your day goes by fast pismoduo! It's days like this that you're glad you work from home. I don't have any experience with HFM but I'm sure it is better than lice! That's the worst.

Thanks! After the lice outbreak they had I spent DAYS feeling itchy. Luckily H has short hair so it's super easy to check him before he comes in the house, but it was still such a pain in the ass.
Apparently the person I talked to at the OB's office missed the fact that I was pregnant and more concerned about my and baby's risk level than H's. They sent the info over to H's doctor (who by the way is an ass and H hasn't seen him in like, 3 years) and his nurse called me back to tell me all about treating it. Not my question... so I explained it all again, emphasizing that *I* am *pregnant* and concerned about what would happen if *I* get HFM. She finally confirmed that it was no big risk and not to worry, just make sure he's washing his hands a lot.
sodapop you'll be in my hood! Let me know if you need any recommendations for anything. Also, the weather is supposed to be beautiful so hopefully you have a great trip!
1- A/S tomorrow. BAHHHHHHH! 2- I posted last Thurday about going into a meeting with my higher ups after I asked for a raise. All in all, they gave me a 9% raise! I am so pleased
My daughter had started patting/rubbing my belly when I'm nearby. She'll also point to it or pat it when we ask her where baby brother is. She's obviously just picking up on the positive attention she gets, not really understand standing, but it's sooo sweet it kills me.
Gah! DS kisses my belly now occasionally and will talk to his baby brother. The cuteness kills me.

I can't stop eating today. So hungry! I can't wait to get a blizzard at the DQ near my OB's office after my appt tomorrow. It's going to be the highlight of my week (other than checking on baby of course).

Mmmm blizzard! We're going to DQ sometime this week bc DH saw that the s'mores blizzard is back and he's obsessed. They haven't had it in a couple yrs. I love the root beer freeze too. Ooh maybe I'll have to go on my way Hm from work!

I just had a chocolate chip cookie dough blizzard last week. It was heaven.
Apparently one of the other companies in the building won some award recently, and as a celebration they had a FREE ice cream cone day!! But for some reason they didn't limit it to their own employees so they hired a Ben & Jerry's truck and EVERYONE in the building got a free ice cream cone!! Mmm....delicious chocolate chip cookie dough.
I'm kind of glad sweets aren't appealing to me so I'm not getting cravings from today's discussion.
Also to add to the itchy talk my sister had bed bugs at their house last week. What a hassle. They went on a 5 week road trip this summer and probably picked them up at a hotel. Yuck.
Today is state testing here, so I got to sit in a room and stare at students taking a test all day. I think it turned my brain to mush.
My friend just had her baby girl yesterday. So I went to target to get her some things and I wanted to spend all my money lol. The baby girl clothes are just so darn cute and I'm use to only buying boy clothes.
