Also I want to talk about coffee consumption. I've been drinking about two 8oz cups of coffee a day because I'm a hopeless addict. I believe I'm still under the 200mg limit.
Those who drink java how much are you drinking a day?
I usually have a 10oz mug in the morning. I have no idea how much is in it, doesn't say on the box of pods. Sometimes I'll also have some iced tea in the afternoon or evening.
Should I buy a bassinet for number 2? Or just stick to the Rock and Play? DS was in the RNP for about 4 months before we switched to the crib, but I want this! Total waste of money... right?
serendipity731, I like that! Soooo much cheaper than the Halo. I don't know if I can really justify spending that much for a bassinet he may be using for a couple months.

singingsea, I mow the lawn while pregnant. I would treat it like any other form of exercise and make sure you are well hydrated and use sunscreen. Take breaks when necessary.
On a side note, I found out the other day that I'm not allowed to go to the shooting range while pregnant. Makes sense, but it's one of those things I wouldn't have guessed until I looked it up.

Really? I never would have thought of that. Even if you were to cover your face and wash your hands well after?

The real danger is the noise. Obviously I could wear headphones but the baby's hearing could suffer. I believe it's not a real danger until after 16 weeks but reputable ranges will not allow pregnant women at any gestational age.

Oh wow. I NEVER would have even thought about it being an issue for baby's hearing. Hadn't planned on going anyway but I never would have thought about that.

God I love coffee. I drink 1 cup in the morning (total amount varies a bit depending on which mug I use but I try not to drink the whole thing if it's a big one). I let myself have another one in the afternoon if I'm really exhausted or have a headache. I always want more!! I miss wine & beer a lot but man, I reallllly miss drinking as much coffee as I want.

I miss endless amounts of coffee WAY more than I miss alcohol.
I'll drink one cup of coffee a day. It's usually a Tervis mug so I'm guessing it's between 8-10oz. Then I'll have one other caffeinated beverage a day, either tea or Dr Pepper.
I have two cups of coffee a day with single shots of espresso. The 200mg recommendation is very conservative any way so even if you are slightly exceeding that it will be fine. Anyone who is interested in how the guidelines come about and are translated from the actual research findings I highly highly recommend the book Expecting Better by Emily Oster which I found so interesting and also reassuring. She is an economist and critically analyses the recommendations and the evidence and finds many of them are way more conservative than they need to be.

f14mama , we had the arms reach co-sleeper in black ($180 because I loved the color, which was the only difference... the other colors are only $130) and we used it for a couple of months. We plan on using it again this time. We also had a PNP that we kept in the living room for naps and changing.
I am not sure if it matters if you can justify it or not. I think if you want one this time, you should get it. Do you think that parents of singles go, well, we're only having one kid so do you think it's worth it? Maybe, I don't know. I would think that it wouldn't matter so much.
How much is 200ml of caffeine and how much caffeine is in each beverage?? Do you go by overall volume of the drink or is caffeine measured separately?
Caffeine is measured separately. 8 oz of coffee, for example, will have different amounts of caffeine depending on the type of beans/grounds used, brew strength, etc.
Some drinks have it right on the label (Pure Leaf brand bottled teas) otherwise I do my best to Google.
I've had shortness of breath since about 8-10 weeks. It's definitely due to increased oxygen needs, not necessarily fitness or anything.
Shortness of breath started for me about a week after BFP. Started only when I was walking up the flight of stairs to my office. It's gotten a little better, but I still don't have nearly the stamina I used to have.
My dumb question...do you think it's safe to mow the lawn? It's a self propelled push mower, not a ride on. We don't have a super big yard. Takes about an hour to hour and half to do front, back and sides. H and I were debating the other day if it's safe for me. I actually enjoy mowing because I'm weird.
I spent about an hour and a half the other day pressure washing with no ill effects (except sore muscles). I did a lot of walking up and down our sloped driveway (stupid cords and hose kept getting tangled, idiot dogs would get themselves tangled on the deck and need help, etc).
My OB recommended at least 20 minutes a day of exercise where I'm sweating but I can still talk without trouble. So maybe do 20 minutes or so, sit down for a few, do 20 more, etc?

Ditto. I was assuming it was the slight risk of getting shot... but this makes sense too.

Hm. Apparently I dialed back way hard on the coffee. I've cut down to a cup of coffee once a week and no caffeinated sodas. It was hard when I was in the office (and particularly when I traveled to the main office) but now that I'm home all the time it's not too bad. I occasionally have a craving for a mocha or something like that.
Should I get a pregnancy pillow? I know we've discussed this before, but a search of the board didn't do me much good. I'm really starting to get uncomfortable when sleeping or sitting in a hard chair. Putting a regular pillow between my legs isn't really helping much, but it might just be too flat. Or the fact that halfway through the night I get frustrated and kick it off the bed (usually in my sleep). It's gotten to the point that halfway through the night I end up propping myself up to a reclined seating position and falling back to sleep that way for a bit to ease the ache in my hips. I can sleep that way for a bit, then I have to go back to sleeping on my side.
So I stopped at a maternity/baby stuff store today and they wanted EIGHTY DOLLARS for the Snoogle. They had this really crappy looking foam triangle for $10.
Recommendations on getting one/not getting one, and brands?

I have a snoogle. I bought it on amazon for $58. I'm enjoying it.

I have one by the makers of the snoogle, it's the two sided one that wraps around like a U. I had it with #1 and just pulled it back out. I love it and sleep so much better.
I like the U shape for 2 reasons. 1- I can face either way without moving the pillow. 2- it supports my back as well and somewhat keeps me from rolling onto my back.
I don't remember what I paid but I got it on zulily.
pismoduo I too bought a snoogle but unfortunately I find it uncomfortable. I've tried a thick pillow between my legs which helps sometimes. The only thing that's really helped me is the occasional Tylenol PM.
Edit: Towards the end with DS I started sleeping in a recliner.

I got a snoogle and thought it was uncomfortable, so tried just a standard body pillow to wrap up with, it ended up waking me up. So I just went with extra pillows, one in between my knees and one under my belly. I toss and turn so much though, that they end up everywhere and it's just a big mess.

Ok so I'm aware stretch marks can't really be avoid you either get them or don't. But is anyone using lotion or cream to help your skin along? If so what kind? I know it can't hurt to a good lotion to help keep skin healthy and moisturized and all that good stuff. Problem for me is im not the pamper and primp kind of girl so I have no idea what would be truly helpful and whats just fluff.

You must have will power of steel! I physically cannot start my day without at least a small cup of coffee. As it was I got headaches the first couple weeks I cut back to the 1 cup in the morning. And the weeks where my body decided coffee was an aversion were hell.

I bought a Palmer's cocoa butter lotion (Link to lotion on Amazon). It said stretch marks and had a picture of a pregnant person on the bottle so I bought that one thinking while nothing can actually prevent stretch marks, if anything was going to help this one might. I don't use it every day yet, but I have noticed some days where my stomach feels a little dry or slightly itchy and I'll use it then.
Since no lotion can actually prevent stretch marks, you're probably good with any decent thicker lotion for moisturizing purposes. Cocoa butter / vitamin E is what will help fade stretch marks after the fact, so I plan to stick with those types of lotions throughout pregnancy.

I currently use Egyptian Magic and Mustela. The Egyptian Magic has all natural ingredients like olive oil, beeswax, and things like that. It's SUPER greasy, but super hydrating. Because it's greasy, I only use it at night. For mornings, I use the Mustela.

I had a headache for the first week or so. Like almost constantly this dull throbbing headache. But once I got past that, it wasn't too bad. Definitely helped that the coffee we have at work is pretty awful without a good creamer, so I stopped buying creamer.
