LO gets firmly tucked in with arms down and so far I've never found him with them out when waking so his startle reflex is managed pretty well this way. DD loved her swaddle and it definitely calmed her but just tried again with LO, who is refusing sleep, food and settling and he cranked right up. Don't think it's for him : (

We swaddle arms in. The biggest effect you get from swaddling is keeping their arms in, to keep their reflexes from startling them awake. Here's some info on the SIDS/arms in debate: www.preciouslittlesleep.com/swaddling-is-terrible-according-to-science/. Basically, don't swaddle arms in if they can roll, and don't put them on their tummies while swaddled.
What blankets do you use for swaddling? We used the Halo swaddle sacks for my daughter but they are too hot for my son. I have been like the double swaddle for my son since it leaves his legs free but the Aden & Anais blankets seem like they will be too small soon. My son is nearly 15 lbs already. Any other thin blankets that would work?
I'm almost tempted to cut up a bed sheet.
We use the Aden & Anais muslin wrap. He is a little over 12 lbs right now and it's plenty big for him.
We use the halo sleep sack with him. With D, she broke out of it. We used a small receiving blanket to keep her arms down and then a very light swaddle blanket a friend got me.
We do something similar. I use a receiving blanket to put her arms down then put a swaddle me or a woombie on top.

LO gets a really blocked up nose after a full feed on one side (my more active side) every night. Its like he sniffs back milk into his nasal passage and it's usually the 2am ish feed and from then on he spends the rest of the night snuffling, choking on it and trying to clear it. I don't know for sure what's causing it but it's mucking up his (and my) sleep!!
I was awake at least five times last night just because he's so noisy when he's sleeping! I can't wait until this kid will sleep in his crib!
I'm awake so much more than I think I need to be, thinking LO is fully awake but he's just so noisy!
We have another 5 months of this yet so I'm going to have to get used to sleeping through more of the grunting and fussing.
Yes! DS slept great last night, but I laid there awake for hours because his noises were freaking me out. I fell asleep like 30 minutes before he woke up to eat. Ugh.
Every time LO has gotten up tonight, I have found crumbs in my nursing bra. Ugh the one hand meal is finally catching up to me. I need to start wearing a bib too. *sigh*
Poor DH. New bartender locked her own keys in the bar at closing. He had to drive up there at 4am to let her back in and reset the alarm. He was supposed to be getting sleep tonight as I'm running up to school in the morning to meet with my mentor.
Ugh that stinks! Sorry your H has to deal with that!

LO is still wide awake at 11pm. He hasn't slept at all since a short nap at 7pm. We're normally doing our first night feed about now. Kid is keeping me on my toes.
What the hell did people do for motn feedings before smart phones and Internet?
I spend most of my MOTN feeds reading. But absolutely could not do it without my kindle since it requires just one hand. And LO is an excellent kindle leaning spot ; )

Cry and feel like they were the last humans left on the planet? I know that's how I would feel without you ladies. Last night when I was nursing DS around 1:00, a woman from my prenatal yoga class messaged me on fb. We were both up nursing at the same time so we chatted back and forth til our LOs were done!
I started watching this show on TLC last night called "out daughtered." The couple had quints. All girls. I could not imagine.
I can't imagine having quints! I was irrationally terrified of having twins! Did they mention how it happened, like fertility treatments? That's why a lot of REs these days will only transfer one or two embryos. It's not safe to carry that many babies!

My DH's aunt had quads. It was crazy. She had to have her whole stomach reconstructed afterwards. But they were the perfect couple to have four babies at once. He was ex-military, so they just ran their home like boot camp. She BF quads. I can't even wrap my mind around that. She even homeschooled them succesfully.
I have another friend who had triplets and their first two years were hell. They had to have round the clock help to make it work.
It takes a special person to do it, for sure. I couldn't. Even twins would throw me off!

Omg I watched that the other day! It made me feel like I have it so easy with just one baby! I cannot imagine. The freaky thing is they got pregnant using IUI, which I did for this baby and will most likely have to do for future children... I have to assume they weren't closely monitored for over response or something.

That's my thought. They couldn't have been monitored. No responsible doctor would be like "ok you ovulated 5 eggs! Let's inseminate you!"

This show keeps making me cry! Idk why. I guess because I have a newborn now and watching it makes me feel all the feels.
And holy shit...a million dollars for 1 babies NICU stay! ?!
My DD was in the NICU for 4 days and it was close to $50,000!
Oh mylanta! I would love to see justification for medical stuff. I mean honestly, does all this really need to be that expensive? Right before DS was born, I went to the walk in for a sinus infection. They didn't run any tests. I told them my symptoms and that I knew it was a sinus infection, so can I get a Rx for antibiotics and be on my way? That cost me $180. Dafuq?

Right?? We just for a bill from the nurse practitioner who discharged her from the NICU and it was $198 just to discharge her! She didn't even come to the room to see her!
