I just can't imagine the stress of seeing the bills you are all mentioning for having your babies! I'm assuming most are covered by insurance? But even sorting that out seems like a stress that a pregnant and new mama shouldn't have to bother with. Feeling immensely thankful for our health system here right now!!
Our insurance will cover most of the costs but it has been really stressful making sure that each separate entity bills both insurances. For whatever reason some of the entities didn't bill mine and babies secondary insurance (which is the good one) and so I've had to make a few phone calls already and I've got more to do...yikes!
In total for both baby and me it cost just over $100,000! It's insane!

I was in the hospital for 7 days and with my gallbladder surgery and having Ry the bill is $79,000 before insurance ... Makes me cringe and that's not even the portion for Ryker ... His was around $7,000. Hopefully insurance will cover a big chunk of it but I'll be paying on it for quite a while
With our insurance, we have a $3000 deductible, and then we have to pay 10% of bills after that with a $6000 OOP max. Because of this, our hospital bill we just received was around $2700. Hold me.

sammie I have little 'nursing station' bins around the house with snacks, water, burp cloths, nursing pads and something to look at. They were an amazing shower gift and now we just keep them filled.

Ugh. 2 month shots are the devil. Lo has a 101 fever and Tylenol doesn't lower it beyond that. He finally just passed out at 1am. Poor little guy.
Ugh not looking forward to those next week. Hope you and your LO get some sleep and he feels better tomorrow!
Thank you! Down to 100.1 and he's still sleeping. Not going to wake him for another dose of Tylenol till he wakes up on his own. Hopefully were on the other side of the fever.

My sentiments exactly. Are you in Canada?
No, in New Zealand. All maternity care (in fact all healthcare) is completely free here unless you choose private care (sometimes quicker but not always better).

Do any of you follow Pregnant Chicken? She just had a post explaining maternity leave in Canada. Very interesting!
No, can you share the link?
I love her blog. I've been following her for years. She covers a lot of stuff, in a pretty unbiased manner. Here is the link to her blog. The first blog post at the top should be about maternity leave in Canada. I also follow her on fb.

Call the hospital and see if they will do a payment plan. Last time they let me pay our bill off over a year and didn't charge interest.
Yah I was thinking $500/month. But still. Just ridiculous.
Ugh, wide awake here with no signs of getting tired any time soon. He spit up everything he ate, but will not stay latched on now. He is sucking.on his hand, so I am sure he is hungry. DH is snoring next to me.
Courtniko poor LO! Also, I rarely let DH sleep in the room with me and DS. There isn't much he can do, so when I see him sleeping peacefully while I'm up with DS, it just makes me ragey. But out of sight, out of mind!
DS was about to do his annoying "I'm going to wake up every 1-1.5 hours" routine for the 3rd night in a row. He went to bed at 9:00, then woke ar 11:00 and again at 12:30. No ffussing...just awake, kicking and grunting and keeping me awake. I re-swaddled him, but attempted arms in. He let me! No screaming or attempting to escape! He slept til almost 4:00!!!
I hate to say this a jinx myself but I think we are at inly waking up once during the night! It's been almost a week that's he has gone 4-6 hrs between feedings at night and omg let me tell you it's amazing!
DS is really annoying the hell out of me while nursing lately. Basically every single time he takes a break between gulps, he has been unlatching. So I have to keep getting him latched like every 10 seconds. Especially awful when I'm having a let-down and my milk is dripping everywhere. I don't know why he is suddenly doing this but I'm getting really mad. After 6 minutes of that nonsense right now, I just covered back up and put him back to bed.

That's so frustrating!
I remember it particularly around 5 months with DD, when she became really easily distracted. So annoying! Especially in the middle of the night.
Has everyone hit those witching hour days? Are you still in the thick of it or has your LO turned the corner they say happens around 2 months.
I somehow forgot about the torture of this special kind of hell from DD : /
E will be 10 weeks on Wednesday and it has started to get a lot better! In addition to the witching hour getting better, im getting a lot more awake happy time.
Eta, our first 7.5 weeks were rough. Lots of crying... only 5-10 mins of awake time without a meltdown
Definitely still getting a witching hour most nights. It is normally sometime between 2am and 5am. He is just 5 weeks now though. I really hope it gets better soon. I can handle the wakeups to eat, just go back down! We do not get much happy awake time, so hopefully that gets better. I am sure it will get better just in time for me to go back to work.
buttercup my SIL is dealing with them now! She has a May baby and her 3 year old and the 3 year old has been having epic meltdowns and pushing boundaries so bad! Just watching it makes me exhausted! I feel for you! Hopefully she levels out soon.
