Seriously guise, I am trying to be helpful and answer questions to some of the moms on TB that are being ignored with all of the regulars gone, but it is really pissing my off-fafa. The questions that could easily be answered by Dr. Google or just calling the OB. I want to smack my head into the wall. And all the damn WKs that are "shaming" us. Eff it!
Haha, I just saw this. That was my first real response since the exodus and I can't believe it was to a double post. Follow your doctor's advice. It's not that hard. Seriously.
Oh and the whole "In the professional world, people don't use punctuation, capitalization and grammar in emails for 'efficiency'" shit. Bahahaha. I would seriously die the day that any of that rang true where I work.

I had to respond to this. Seriously who doesn't write properly while at work..strippers?

This must be from a person who doesn't actually WORK in the professional world....

Just going to pile on here. Email etiquette, including grammar, punctuation, and all the rest, IS VERY IMPORTANT. In life. And especially at work. There are only two kinds of people I've observed who don't observe writing conventions in their emails: 1) people who are so far up the chain that they can get away with anything, and 2) people who are about to be fired.
I don't read all the posts, I try to pick out the ones that seem like they genuinely should be answered, but really aren't. I don't care about MIL's not being interested, or symptoms that they all do/do not have, but I'm trying to be semi-helpful to those who have actual medical questions (even if they don't try to help themselves first by doing research). I am slowly losing the ability to care about it though. All the rainbow farts and glitter people can try to answer, but they really don't help...at all.

I'm guessing this lady is not in category 1.
When I talk to parents about their kids learning to read and write, I'm always sure to talk about the importance of spelling, grammar, and punctuation -- if their kids want to write in "text speak" with their friends that's fine - but there's an academic and professional standard that everyone is held to, and while it may not be fair, people ARE judged based on their writing.

I have never worked in a field where lack of punctuation was acceptable. People can make the occasional spelling mistakes, but the grammar better be pretty spot on - and this has spanned medical, legal, scientific and admin fields. I think saying people are judged on their writing is absolutely correct.
My big issue with A15 in its current form, and the reason I haven't responded much, is that saying "you could really google this for an answer" in response to questions involving medical concerns is invariably met with: "but she wants to hear from other moms about this!" Uh, how are we better equipped to answer a question than a medical site? Anecdotes/past experience =/= reliable information. And apparently referring someone to their doctor or to google makes us bitchy. Whatever. Over it.

HOW AM I MISSING THESE GEMS?! You've GOT to be kidding me!
