I didn't, but tore like a mofo with DD so maybe I should have.
I doubt it's something worth pursuing. From what I've read, the best way to avoid tearing is by laboring down until you're truly ready to push. Which I did, but DD had her hand by her face and literally punched her way out of me. LOL.
What does laboring down mean?
It's basically waiting to push while fully dilated until you feel the urge.

Didn't do it with DS, and had an episiotomy which I didn't find to be a big deal. It felt like a feather tickling me compared to having DS's head in the birth canal!
So much nope to the perineal massage. I told my H about it before DS and it became a running joke with us and he would offer to do it every couple of weeks.
FTR, I never took him up on it, and I did not tear.

I did not do it with DD. I needed two stitches and i wont do it this time. I dont think it would make much difference. But, it is my favorite part of the movie Baby Mama. When Tina fey leans over to Amy poehler and says "I think she wants me to rub olive oil on your taint" as they are at a birthing class.
I didn't do anything at home, but once I was able to start pushing the nurse was doing it in between contractions. I couldn't feel anything and wasn't even thinking about anything other than the contractions. I said there was no way in hell that I would do it, but once I was in labor and pushing I was like whatever at that point. I had two second degree tears... so there's that. Maybe it would have been worse if she didn't do it? Who knows.

Mine too! I love when Amy asks if she can just spray some Pam up there instead and Tina is all "It's a valid question!" haha
