We were planning a trip to St. John (USVI) the first week of June to celebrate DH's graduation froom grad school and we were urged to cancel. I am so bummed!!! We are now looking at other possible locations. It looks like Bermuda is still in the clear BUT so expensive. We might just to a shorter trip to one of the cities on our bucket list...maybe DC or Chicago? But that doens't seem as relaxing as the beach. Thanks to this thread I have now abandonded all work and I am spiraling out on tripadvisor!
When I was pregnant with DS we did our babymoon in Chicago in August (I was 20 weeks) and it was spectacular. Highly recommend.
Chicago in the summer > DC in the summer. I wouldn't want to be sightseeing and all the walking if it's 90 and humid here.
For sure! I went to a wedding when 20 weeks pregnant last time in early September in DC, and I had to drive everywhere because walking around in the heat to use the metro was unbearable.
Just found out DH has to go to El Salvador in June for a conference. I need to look into whether Zika is there yet. Yay, condoms?
They have one of the highest rates in South America. Eep! and damn having to use condoms when you are pregnant. Isn't that one of the pros of pregnancy, no birth control.

Ugh, yep, I was just reading online.
And double ugh to condoms. Not that we are bunnies or anything, but several months of it does not sound fun. Literally have not used them since our dating days 7+ years ago. I thought we were well-past that phase
I got my first mosquito bite today and it was one of those aedes ones. Ugh DNW. I didn't even realize that type comes out during the day
I've gotten a handful already, too...WITH spray on. Hate mosquitoes anyway but now I'm like disturbed every time. I killed 2 today before they got me so that's good at least.
LizInFL ugh that sucks. I bet Olympic turnout is down this year.. I heard that the US Olympic committee recognizes that some athletes may not want to go due to the risks.

Agreed. I've already heard that quite a few athletes involved in water sports (rowing, sailing, etc) are concerned because of the terrible water quality, and now Zika...thanks but no thanks.
We don't have the type of mosquito here that we could contract Zika from, so I am not worried. I am contractually obligated to stay out of areas where I could contract Zika though.
