I have a question for those of us pumping at work. What are you using to store your pumped milk? I'm using the Medela cooler bag but I don't think it's doing a good job.

I use an insulated lunch box with a large "brick" that stays frozen. It keeps it cool enough to last the day.

I use a little bag the hospital provides for BFing mothers.. Then I put it in the fridge (or freezer).

I bought a mini fridge for $50. It also means I don't need to disassemble pump parts between pumping. Once I'm done pumping, I'll just donate it to the room or haul it up to my office.

I just went back to work but I have 2 of the medela coolers and I keep them in the fridge. Then I have another regular cooler that I use to put my pump parts in so I can reuse without disassembling, at least for a few pumps. It's a lot of stuff to lug around but so far it's working ok. I keep 2 sets of assembled pump parts in the cooler so I can switch if it's been too long on my long shifts.
Thanks ladies. I pump in my office and I think I'll get a little fridge to keep in there. I only pump three times while at work but yesterday I had to toss 10oz (from Tuesday) because it went bad.

I bought a fridge to hahaha but as we discussed before, I can pump in my office since it's not glass like yours. Comes in very handy because now on Mondays I can load it up with all my food for the week as well woo hoo
My pumping room is apparently where they hide all the unwanted office furniture. There are 3 chairs, a credenza, a desk, and a recliner in a room that's about.. 4x7. It's kind of awful. And dirty. I'm going to clean it on Monday. And maybe ask HR if there's anyway they can dispose of the shitty office chairs.
I'm using the music room storage closet. I pulled a student desk in there so I can work while I pump since I use my plan time. It works and I'm just thankful I have a key this time so I don't have to go track one down every time like I had to when I was pumping with A! I use an insulated bag from the hospital with several ice packs in it to store. I also put my pump parts in there so I don't have to wash them every time. It's worked well so far!

Hey there - i need some help. DS is typically fine nursing but the last two days he only nurses for a couple of minutes and then pops off crying, i put him back on and he sucks for a minute tops and then cries again. I switch sides and the same thing. What could this be? I ended up just giving him a bottle last night and pumping and am now pumping again while DH gives him a bottle as he was starving.
About a month ago he started having green and mucousy poops, i thought it might have been from all the drooling he was doing and the stuffy nose he had but it didn't go away so 10 days ago i gave up dairy to see if it would help. His poop is pretty much back to normal with a random green one in there still. Not sure if this has anything to do with it or not but throwing it out there.

What do you think i should do?
Sounds to me like he is impatient and not wanting to wait for let down. I would hand express to get it started and attach him once the milk is flowing and see if that fixes it. I have this issue sometimes with DD when she is starving!
Also, try to catch him a little sooner and see if that helps him feel more patient. Maybe try every 1.5 hrs for a bit? I also have better luck RIGHT when she wakes but is still drowsy. I feed her with white noise before I change her or even speak to her.
No experience on the green poop but if he's not eating for long, he could be getting to much foremilk and never getting to the hindmilk which would cause green poop.

So I just fed him again and he did the same thing. But I did a weighted feed to see if he got anything, and he still got 3 oz even though he ate for like 3 min on each side.

Baby I does this sometimes too. It's challenging. And frustrating. Sometimes I think he wants to comfort nurse then gets mad when milk comes out. Sometimes I get frustrated and have MH take him for a quick walk to get his mind off the fussiness and usually he comes back ready to get down to business. Sometimes we try different positions - side laying or laid back decreases OALD, or sometimes I dangle and hand express into his mouth if letdown seems too slow. Sometimes (like last night) we needed to go to a dark quiet room to get away from the excitement of company. I can't remember if it was my LC or Kellymom that suggested just changing things up and eventually something will solve the problem. I have yet to figure out the reason for his behavior since something different solves the problem every time haha! Sometimes when MH takes him for a walk he is happy as a clam and apparently wasn't so hungry after all. Be sparing with bottles if you're EBF unless you're also pumping bc your supply could decrease and cause future probs. GL!

Sounds like he's just super efficient! As long as weight gain is good, I wouldn't worry. DD acts like in trying to kill her when she is done so maybe he's just telling you he had all he needed!

Thank you! Will try switching things up. I'm also working and pumping bottles for daycare. I pumped when I gave him the bottle but only got an oz and a half, so I'm thinking he got more than I thought he did

I need advice or someone to talk me off a ledge.
DD has decided she doesn't want righty for the last two feedings. After she rejected this last one, I decided to pump so that my supply stays consistent and only pumped 2 oz on that side (I didn't pump left because ate from that size again).
Should I be worried my supply is dropping? I don't usually pump during the day because I SAH and NOD so I'm a little surprised by my pump output today...

How much do you usually get from that side? R refuses my right boob all the time. Sometimes I can trick her into eating from it if I hold her weird. Maybe try different holds?

I rarely pump but the last time I pumped (Saturday night), I got 5 oz... I can definitely try a different hold! Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if it was later in the day. You essentially missed one feeding which at this point in the game is not the end of the world. I pump at work and get anywhere from 1.5-5 oz per size per session, more at the beginning of the day.
westiemom, can you start her off on the left and then switch her over to the right once she gets going??
I've tried that and every time she gets there she flips out on me. She's hitting that boob like crazy which makes me think it's a letdown issue.... Lefty is faster for sure but right is a higher producer. It's been 3 feedings now with no luck so I'm now thinking ear infection or teeth or who knows. I will watch it over night and see what happens I guess.

That helps so much! Thanks! Since I never pump, I have no idea what's normal! I just kinda assumed it would be like 4 oz every time.

westiemom yes pumping can vary day to day, hour to hour, week to week, etc. and one data point does not a trend make. Don't overthink it. As long as its not causing other problems I think it's fine to go with the flow... literally & figuratively 😜
We are a little lopsided too. I know my rightie is faster so we use that one more when he's down to business and really hungry. He can handle it better. We are exclusive leftie at night bc we can only side lay on the left and we unintentionally trained leftie to produce more at night. Sorry not sorry.
The hitting and fussing could mean lots of things. Too fast. Too slow. Not enough. Too much. Not hungry. Very hungry. Or something else that has little to do with nursing at all. Idk if I it was kellymom or my LC that suggested just switching up positions and sides constantly until the fussiness stops. Sometimes taking a break either helps him focus or helps me realize maybe he wasn't so hungry after all.
