Question for you ladies. I'm currently feeding the twins roughly every 3 hours, which includes them nursing for about 20 min on average followed by them taking about 30 mL of formula supplement. They switch breasts every other feeding. My problem is that my breasts never feel full, so I'm sure they're not getting very much. How do I get my supply up so that I actually have that full sensation and can put out more than 1 oz at a time? Pump after feedings to stimulate? Ugh.

I will throw out thst other than the first 1-2 days I've never really had full feeling and I think my supply is fine. Also pumping output is not always a good judge of true supply. You can pump after feeds to help increase supply. Also make sure you have proper flange sizes. You can also use heat packs and massage to help increase pump output.
pbandj714 you are feeding 2 babies, I would not worry about feeling full. Your body has probably just adapted to the twins' needs. But if you are truly worried they aren't getting enough, maybe see a LC for a weighted feed?

Thank you andrea, microworm, and packerfan4life! I need to trust my body more and be better about pumping after feeds more consistently to see if I notice a difference. I've been stressing because they have a weight check next week and need to get back to birth weight. I'll just keep doing what I can to make that happen!

In addition to everything that was said, if you really believe you are having a supply issue, make sure you are drinking tons of water, eating enough, and I took "more milk plus" pills when I got mastitis and my supply dropped, and I do think they worked. Maybe consult a lactation consultant first because you may not be having a supply issue if they are full and growing. You got this! Having twins must be so hard, you are doing incredible job!

Also I'm so impressed by breastfeeding twin moms. I find feeding one to be a 2 handed job, I can't imagine tandem nursing. Also make sure to do things to try to help your sanity. The feed/supplement/pump cycle is ridiculous. Hopefully someone can do the supplementing while you pump. And if I were you I wouldn't worry about pumping after motn feeds, save that for the daytime
Thanks you guys. Tandem feeding is going well with DH's help; however, the couple of times I've had to do it by myself have been quite challenging. To my surprise, feeding them both their supplements and trying to burp them at the same time is the most challenging part!
With my son, I had a 105 fever, had to be hospitalized, and had to get an IV and a shot in my butt. So if I can avoid that, I will call it a win! I think I caught it earlier than last time because I knew all of the signs to look for and called immediately when my fever started rising throughout the day and I started to get other flu like symptoms.

manybellsdown I'm late to the party but I really like milk nursingwear. quality is not amazing (fabric is soft but thin) but I just love the style. You can nurse so much more discreetly than with pull down tops or even covers. And it's cute! Expensive, but watch sales. I have already NIP'd in these.

It's like DD knows about the Mastitis. She's been cluster feeding all night, like every 45 minutes. I need to keep my breasts drained, so even though it's so painful, it's probably a good thing!

txmommy14 feel better soon! Ugh, I fear mastitis...
manybellsdown another vote for the milk nursing wear! I have that shirt in the real green color. Love it. Also momzelle is great - I have two of their "Sara" shirts and they're my favorites! Sorry no linky... I'm on mobile, but just google it
pbandj714 I've been supplementing with the oz of formula too and was told to pump after that - mainly for my own stimulation vs output. I've only ever gotten an ounce or so when I pump. I had a follow up with my LC today and she said that's fine. It could be she's draining me more effectively (tongue clipped this week). I've never felt engorged or full either.
More props for twins. Will you have help after DH goes back to work?
Anyone else have a c section and still having pain? I'm 2.5 weeks out and at my incision check on tues the nurse didn't like that I was having stomach pains. My incision feels fine but above it- my flabby pouch- feels like a big bruise. I'm starting to worry that nursing all day with a 10+ lb baby on it is hurting a lot and preventing healing. I'm still taking ibuprofen but that's all. Football hold is awkward cuz she's so big. What else can I do? Anyone else still sore?

Stringy - I'm 3 weeks and 2 days out from my C and my incision is still miserable.... While not infected I realized after my shower tonight that spots all along it are weepy.
My DS is almost 11 pounds (was 10 lb 7 oz on Monday).... So I think that has something to do with it... In his car seat it's quite a load to lift so there's probably more lifting in our life than your recovery regulations technically allow.
Idk if nursing positions effect it or not. Are you using a nursing pillow??
Sometimes when I stand up i wear I feel everything internally shift down and it's almost like lightening crotch too... No advice, just commiseration. I ripped part of my stitches on a Sunday 4 days after my C but the doc on call want very kind of helpful. He just said to rest but I wish he would've told me to come in to have it checked. I feel like some butterfly tape stitch things would've helped a ton. And now we're looking at a long holiday weekend so if I can get in tomorrow....
That turned into a personal rant--- sorry. Call your doc in the AM and see what the say. Feel better soon!!!
I was really hoping the antibiotics would kick in quickly and that I'd feel well enough to go to the funeral this morning. But it's 4am and I'm laying here with two winter fleeces on, shivering and feeling so incredibly sick. Mastitis is the worst. I was so afraid of it and have no clue how I ended up with it again. My husband has a big presentation at work today so we are trying to find someone to help us with the toddler since I can't get out of bed.
