I'm really sorry that you're feeling so poorly txmommy14. I hope you can find someone to help you with your DS.
Thank you, we are working on it. I still haven't gotten out of bed since 4 yesterday except to use the restroom so I'm not sure how I'll watch a 2 year old all day. I thought the antibiotics would help me kick this pretty quickly, but my fever is still 102, even with fever reducer meds.
txmommy14 I'm just so sorry. This totally sucks. I hope you can find someone to take care of you DS and that your fever starts reducing ASAP. Big hugs!
Stringy, my mom said she would come back down to help when he goes back to work if I need. I'm glad I have that option, but I do hope to master it on my own. DH works from home fairly often, so he should still be able to help a bit.
Re the CS, the little bit of pain I do have is about an inch above and left of my insicion. It's so strange. It almost has a numb sensation when I touch it, but there is also pain. Hoping it goes away!
Anyone else have a c section and still having pain? I'm 2.5 weeks out and at my incision check on tues the nurse didn't like that I was having stomach pains. My incision feels fine but above it- my flabby pouch- feels like a big bruise. I'm starting to worry that nursing all day with a 10+ lb baby on it is hurting a lot and preventing healing. I'm still taking ibuprofen but that's all. Football hold is awkward cuz she's so big. What else can I do? Anyone else still sore?
My c section took way longer than I remember my first healing this time around. I had the flabby bruised feeling too, it finally went away mostly this passed week. It also still hurts a lot when I pee if I haven't peed in awhile. And we won't discuss the pooping situation.
Nursing pillows helped me a lot - and mostly cross cradle. I'd sit the pillow higher than the incision. I still can't seem to master laying down nursing and I feel DS is too long and I can't tuck him in nicely for football. We're also still struggling with latch, and cross cradle is how I've been able to get somewhat okay ones so I'm not messing with positions right now.
I've now taken to using my hot coffee/teas as boob heat packs.
My H keeps laughing at me holding my mugs to my boobs, but I think it's genius. It also ups my chances of drinking hot coffee as I'm making sure I'm holding it.
And it helps.
Not that I needed more reasons to love hot coffee right now

Hope you're feeling better soon
Thanks. I tried the boppy again today and it was better than a week ago since my stomach has shrunk a bunch. Still not perfect and her latch was weird and painful at first today. Yesterday it seemed fine. Sorry it still hurts to pee. It doesn't hurt for me but feels strange- I can't describe it. Like its new. And yes we will not discuss the pooping. How many weeks pp are you cattuccino

Thank you, cattuccino and txmommy14. So in order to eat dinner, I had to wear baby. He was much better in the wrap but not perfect. DD decided to have some jealousy I think, so by the end of dinner she was insisting on sitting on my lap. Newborn in wrap, toddler balancing precariously on lap = stressfree dinner!
Oh my goodness, I have so many questions. I'll start with does anyone else have big nipples, and if so, did the pain from the first days subside once your milk came in?

I think the pain gradually goes away once your nipples get used to it. Well as long as you have a good latch, etc. I've found that the beginning of BF with #2 has been much easier and less painful than with #1. Also both of my boys have been very efficient eaters and I think I have a very fast let down because the first couple of suckles are super strong and painful regardless of how good the latch is and then it stops hurting after that.
The lactation consultant said because my nipples are bigger he might be latching on to just the nipple but didn't seem to have many suggestions other than wait to deal with it.

This is part of our latch issues as well (after the tongue and lip tie, and high palate arc apparently) which has been making it very hard to get a good latch. Relatching during a feed is also more challenging when already large nipples become even bigger from sucking.
The "flipple technique" sometimes helps for an initial first latch.....not as well for relatching I've found.
Kevinmac, we had the nipple feeder vs breast feeder problem too. It did get better once my milk came in, but a lot of it has been patience and relatching and repositioning.
Kevinmac also you can talk to different LCs for maybe some other techniques. It took me three to find one that I thought was helpful. Another one may have something more helpful to say then wait.

Guys - help me out or ease my mind. My right boob feels like it got punched... Feels bruised and tender but no lumps, red marks, heat, fever. Is this the start of something? Do I ignore it and hope it's nothing?

Mine felt like this for a while, but never turned into anything. Just out of precaution maybe offer that side first today and you could massage it while feeding or pumping it. Also massage it in the shower and see if that helps...

I had the same experience. A different lactation consultant visited every day that I was in the hospital and it wasn't until the third one that I actually got the idea. I think different approaches work for different women. The first two kind of manhandled me while the third one actually stood back and told me what to do and let me do it and that worked a lot better.

L has an extremely shallow latch. Literally ONLY my nipple. I had some initial soreness but it was gone before our first non-hospital LC appointment.
ETA: yes, I have big nips. Or "great equipment" as the LC called it. Lol

I found that all LCs are not created equally. The one in the hospital was basically useless. I'm pretty in love with the one at our pedi office.
+2 I saw at least 3 LCs when we were in the hospital and they were all good, but I only felt that one really helped us and considered our specific situation when answering my questions.

I hope there is one at my pedi office. There are two at the hospital, but the other one was on vacation this week. Thanks for all the help!
