Bumping this. How much are your babies taking at a time now? L seems like he always wants about 6 oz at a time but every single time I make that much, he spits up a ton. I use a formula maker so I can only do in 2-4-6-8-10 increments. I think 5 oz would be perfect so maybe I'll make 6 and just pour out the other oz to eliminate the temptation for him since he likes to suck every bottle dry.

willow we are at 4-5 6oz bottles per day. She doesn't always drain them, but I always offer 6. My pedi said the other day when we were in for the 4 months appt that their stomachs can really only handle 6oz, anymore than that and you'll just be throw up city. I have found that to be true.
Maybe try burping several times throughout the bottle? Or feed him more upright rather than laying down?

Yeah one time he seemed ravenous and ate 8 oz and was fine but usually with 6 he spits up a lot after. I will see if maybe burping him more during feeding helps. He was averaging about 27 oz a day and I think he's in a growth spurt (will be 15 weeks on Wednesday) and he's been doing around 30 oz a day the last few days.
I think my biggest struggle with burping him multiple times is unless he's on the verge of a nap, he gets so antsy and wants to play right away which makes him spit up more since he likes to be laying down. Silly impatient babies.

We tried moving up to 7oz since they always seemed hungry and that seems too much. So we went back down to 6 but they've started solids which I do twice a day in between bottles around lunch and dinner. They seem much more content now. 😊

About 50% of the time that I feed L, he thrashes his arms and legs around. I always take the bottle out of his mouth and try to burp him, sit him up, or take a break from feeding thinking he's done, but he isn't. Anyone else dealing with this? Not sure what the problem is.

L has really ramped up the distractedness lately. I think this is supposed to be a normal time for them to start to getting easily interested in other things instead of just eating. Gets frustrating!
Also how are your babies sleeping? I notice the FF moms aren't as frequent in the motn thread so I'm guessing not too bad? L usually gives me between 5.5-7 hour stretch first. Lately he's been falling asleep earlier though so it means I get less sleep since I can't fall asleep at 7 or 8. I preferred when he goes to bed at 10 and sleeps til 4-5 since I will go to bed then too. Of course i would love it if he started doing the 10-12 hour nights.

I was lurking the BFing thread and saw that those babies are super distracted too, and was wondering if that's what's going on with L. Makes sense! And definitely frustrating. Last week he was doing it and we had to go out after his feeding and he pretty much ate nothing and was a mess in the car.

I'm scared to admit it because I don't want to jinx it, but L is sleeping 10-11 hours at night. We were having issues getting him to sleep at night (kept getting later and later) and switched up his routine so he gets his last feeding in his room in the dark, and it worked.

I know what you mean! I went to the mall a few days ago and tried to feed L in Nordstroms women's lounge and he kept pulling off the bottle every time a person would walk through to go to the bathroom and smile and flirt with them. Lol.

I have had a few 8-10 hour nights! I'm hoping those become more regular soon, though I know we are approaching the 4 month regression. When they wake up during the regression is it more often to be comforted or do they actually need to eat?

I can't even remember with DS1, but I know I fed him every time. It lasted about a week. Not looking forward to it with L!
N is sleeping from about 830/9pm to either 530 or 630 am. She's been doing this for 2 weeks. She just turned 4 months yesterday. This is the same timeframe ds did this too.
I don't know if it is ff or my babies are good sleepers or what. I'll take it!!! She takes 2 to 3 good naps a day.

We're in it now. It blows. She clearly doesn't need a bottle every time she wakes up. We try sometimes but she doesn't take it. It's a lot of soothing, putting a paci in, rocking her, walking around with her. She is just generally upset when she wakes up and she is waking up a lot. Naps are a shit show, too. She was going to sleep and naps very easily and now it's a fight.
My DD1 never had one... at least not at 4 mo. In fact, 3 mo - 5.5 mo was her best sleep the whole first year. You never know!
Yep my older son never had a 4 month regression. In all of my sleep studying, I learned that it's actually the exception, not the norm to actually go through one. It's just rough for those that experience it so it gets talked about a bunch.

Interesting! Well then hopefully he will not be an exception for this one lol.
