Sleep: Most parents come to the three-month visit beaming. As much as they were apprehensive (some even glanced at the diplomas on the wall while we discussed sleep training), those who have tried our strategies are so appreciative of having recovered sanity after months of sleep deprivation. If you have not done so for philosophical reasons, or simply because you just don't have the heart to let your baby cry at night (which we totally respect), here is a friendly warning: If your child does not sleep more or less through the night by now, chances are it will be difficult for him to learn to do so. Most likely, you will have to attempt sleep training when he is able to call your names, which will be a more complicated process.
Wut.
WTF!? At two months? That's crazy. Plus, I hate the wording of that whole thing. It's basically shaming parents who choose not to do CIO at 2 months. It's definitely not creating open communication between parent and doctor either since the doctor is pushing that so hard without even listening to what the parents need or have to say first. I'm SHOCKED a doctor would promote CIO at 2 months. Shocked.
I've decided to transition R to his crib tonight. Fingers crossed this goes smoothly.
Good luck! Keep us posted, I'm scared for this transition.
It actually went much better than I expected. I put him down drowsy around 8 and he was asleep in minutes. He woke up at 1 to nurse and went right back down. Was up at 230 but he took his binky and then woke up at 4 nurse. Again he went right back down and woke up for the day around 7.
He's been waking more recently to eat so the schedule has been our new normal this past week. I'm calling it a small victory and hoping tonight goes just as well.

I found out about my missed mc and waited to do it naturally at home. DD1 had a birthday coming up and I prayed so hard that it wouldn't happen on her day. Thankfully, it happened the next day. I am so glad I don't have that dark cloud hanging over her special time where I want to be happy and celebratory. The next day is really somber though

I'm so sorry - I miscarried my first pregnancy naturally at 12 weeks after a mmc (baby measured 9 weeks). It was awful - so physically and emotionally traumatic. Glad it didn't happen on your DD's birthday, that would have been terrible.

"Love tit" for understanding and also that it didn't happen on your daughter's birthday. So sorry

Mine was similar, mc at 13 weeks, measuring 8-9. The physical pain was intense, but strangely cathartic. I feel like going through that process helped me a lot emotionally. And then I was able to bury and sort of memorialize my baby. I had older kids who were aware of what happened, so I think it was helpful for them to have something to bury too. They still talk about the baby (they always name my babies in utero and had already given this one a name) and can't wait to meet him or her in Heaven.

@ismellbooks your hair is beautiful! Mine is the same color but turning gray quicker than I'd like. I haven't dyed it since high school and I really don't want to start now but I think it's gonna have to happen soon.
I think I've only dried and styled my hair twice since R was born. I really need to go back to doing more with it but it's just so much easier to just throw it in a messy bun.

My dishwasher broke in January and we just never got around to fixing it. Something always took precedence and we never had the extra money to spend on fixing it when I was perfectly capable of handwashing dishes. Well, now that canning season is upon me and I don't want to have to boil jars to sterilize when I can just throw them in the washer, I decided to get it fixed. The service men just left and I now have a dishwasher!!! This will save me at least an hour every day. Woohoo!!

Y'all. Someone just posted on our NextDoor that one of our neighbors pulled a gun on them (!!!?!?!?!!11!) because they were playing Pokemon Go and apparently lingered a little too long in front of the neighbor's house with their phone out. The guy apparently thought this other person (also a neighbor) was casing his house. WTeverlovingF?!

Holy Crap. Add that to the list of reasons for me not to play Pokemon Go.
creepyeyeball you're like super mom with all your canning and other awesome ways of life!
Aww. Thanks. I just enjoy things like canning, so I make time for it. I should probably use that time to exercise or something, but that's not fun for me

Just had to refill DS1's epipen prescription. It costs $620 with our crappy insurance. They tried to give me one that expires in April. I was like, um, no, sir! Take that back to the store room and find me something that will last at least a year. Came back with one that expires in August 2017. That's a little better.
I can't believe they charge so much for a lifesaving medication. It's terrible.

Sometimes I think you must be a saint. 6 months with no dishwasher and 5 kids. Bless you, child.
It's crazy how you just get in the habit of doing things the hard way and forget how much easier it can be. Dishes didn't feel like a ton of work until I loaded the dishwasher today and was like "Oh my goodness, why did I wait so long to fix this? It's so much faster!" My laziness in getting it fixed made me work even harder. Lol
