And since he wouldn't stay asleep I tried the bottle again and he's taking it. Poor kiddo must have been in too much pain and the Advil needed to kick in.
2ish ounces sounds appropriate for his age. Did he pace the feed?
What time of day are you pumping? Your output should typically be highest in the morning. I'm
He didn't pace the feed. He just gave him the bottle and I was in the other room pumping to replace that feed. He came in when I was finishing. So it took around 15 minutes. He said he burped him and that settled him for a bit but he still seemed like he wanted more. He does seem to eat a little more between 6-8pm. He was crying a bit so I am feeding him more now. I wonder if it is the time of day or that he really is eating more than 2 ounces. I have also been pumping in the morning. I am only pumping once a day for now.
How old is T now? I remember that there was a growth spurt at the 3 week mark for Peyton and she nursed around the clock. Could be that.
meggypoo1 sounds like your supply is just fine! They do cluster feed at night regardless of hunger and supply is lower but the milk is fattier (go figure) but you're doing great! If it hurts to pump, maybe go up a size flange to a bigger size and see if that helps. Also lower the suction. Sometimes it helps to put nipple butter on prior to pumping and after- gives it a little lubrication. When you pump do you feel the tingle/ pressure of the let down and then see the milk flow out and then stop? Sometimes I had trouble getting a letdown with the pump until I went back to work since baby was eating so frequently. If you're getting the letdown, pump a few minutes past the last drop to fully empty your breast but 2.5 ounces at night is great. Especially since baby is emptying you all day. You'll have more output when you're pumping at work and he isn't eating on you.

becole, thanks! I figured I needed to go down a size in the flange because it was pulling nipple and areola into it? Is it the other way? I'm going to try the lube tomorrow. I don't think I'm getting a letdown but I also think I have it on too high. My goodness that's a lot of growth spurts. I also only vaguely remember the cluster feeding hell with Clara (probably on purpose that I don't remember) so thank you all for making me not feel so crazy that we go through this every night and I did in fact think it was cluster feeding so I am glad I'm not crazy!

You're right if there is areola pulled in that the flange is too large but you should also be comfortable. The LC had told me to turn up the suction until it's uncomfortable and then turn it back down a little. You should get a let down with the pump- you may need to practice relaxing and the level of suction and comfort to be able to get the let down. If you don't get a letdown, there will definitely be less milk.

Thanks, I'll try the turning it up and down tomorrow plus the letdown button and I'll try some nipple lube!

Kelly mom has some great articles about pumping too.

My DS2 is notorious for not taking a bottle when he has an EI or cutting teeth. He just keeps pushing it away. I try not to worry but keep an eye on wet diapers. The only time I have luck is when he is falling asleep or asleep. He does nurse ok but that doesn't help when I'm at work!
I have my six week appointment this morning (a little early but my OB's last day is today). How sad is it that I wish she would find something wrong so I didn't have to go back to work in a week! 😩

I'm sorry your leave is so short. There's just no reason for a mom to have to leave her baby that soon unless she wants to.

Thank you. I am cleared so back to work in a week. At least I got the mini pill so no condoms for when I decide to have the sexs again.

Yes, even 11 weeks is too short. Me staying home for so long is probably a poor financial decision but I just don't care. Maybe this should go in the FFC thread but I'd rather get tutoring jobs & stuff over the summer to pay off credit card debt. It just makes me so angry that I have to make that choice or that you ladies have to leave your babes before you're ready.

May I present to you my new favorite jeans? They are super soft and stretchy and have this soft lining around the waist which makes them more comfy if you have a mom gut like me.

I can't remember if I posted about these or not on here before but yes- this is what I bought post partum and I'm still wearing the dark skinnies. I got them at kohls.
ETA wait- I do have some with a button but the ones I like more do not have a button. They're like this. No zipper, no button, no FUPA
Sorry Baby 2 loves bedtime, but we've had many nights where we couldn't put him down after 4am. I know well the feeling of being held captive by a baby that just won't cooperate. SaveSave

DD2 has been SUCH a better sleeper than DD1 ever was but I think we're just starting the 4th leap. This was such a horrendous time with the big that I was really hoping it would be better with this one. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that this is a fluke.
