+1 to the baby conversations! I feel like she's got so much to say and she can actually communicate some things now. It's awesome!
malvo A barked for most animals before. She now has dog, cat, monkey, bear and elephant (with trunk motion) consistently. My mum worked on a bunch of those with her while watching her! I'm trying to teach her sheep and bee.
Good luck going solo today! I almost cried at the first doctor appt we went to. It was pouring down rain and H was acting like a crazy woman in the waiting room. Things have gotten so much better since then!
Also I still can't leave H unsupervised around O. She will body slam him and then laugh. Such a sweet big sister....
E knows cat, cow, sheep, man down (aaaaahhhh from hb's video game) sounds. I/eye, I got, I get,all done, dada, mama, cat, hello, nigh nigh, sit. That is what I can remember.
She will point to or show when asked hair, ear, eye, nose, teeth, belly, booty, stickies (feet), muscles. Knows high 5 and knuckles
Meetings were painless, thankfully! Leaving in a few minutes.
My kid doesn't say many words. Ball, Dada, Mama, Uh oh, Yep, Bye Bye, More.. but, she totally understands me when I speak and if she doesn't, she says, "HUH!?!?!" LOL I love it.

Yeah. Almost no words here. Mama and dada (which are interchangeable), night night (ni ni) and uh-oh. We are starting to get concerned. She has lots to say, but none of it are real words. She understands us but does not respond back. This is upsetting me a lot
We have dada and pawpaw, he jabbers a lot. Our pedi at the 15 month appointment said he showed delays but not to worry. He said words would click before we knew it. He asked us to give Wayne choices and ask him to repeat words. Sorry to say that just makes the little guy angry. We've tried everything but I'm really tempted to try a teach my toddler kit.
graciest719 Don't be upset. Believe me when I say that I know it's hard not to compare. My kiddo still isn't walking but never shuts up! Kids are so different.
At 15 months the pedi said that she should say mama and dada and be trying to talk to us, even if it doesn't make sense.
If you're really worried you can call your pedi but honestly it sounds totally normal to me.

Just quickly catching up before heading home and I'm negative nancy... We have no words. None. Lots to say but no words. Everyone keeps saying it's ok, but it's really starting to bother me Pedi said that they wouldn't evaluate him until 2, so I guess he's got time but idk. I feel like we should be doing something. We read constantly and if you ask him to point to things on the page, he know animals and objects and such. Someone talk me off of my ledge please...
portuguesemama When I was flipping out over O's motor skills the doctor told me that when kids are ahead in some areas they may be slower in others. Not delayed and it doesn't sound like he is. Obviously he has good cognition because he can point at things, etc.
I remember being amazed and so jealous of your pics and posts about N's motor skills from when he was so young. He is clearly very strong. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Just keep working with him and he will be jabbering nonstop in no time.

portuguesemama Exactly. She knows what we are saying but doesn't talk back. Like you, the pedi said not to worry until 2 years. But. That's a long time from now.
Hugs to portuguesemama and graciest719! I have to give a lot of credit to DC. Circle time and reading time have done wonders for her. We don't read much at home. I really need to make more time for it. She also mimics the kids at DC. She picked up "Uh-oh" because a boy in her class was saying it incessantly.
I have a speech language pathologist friend who will tell you that your kids are fine. They are babbling and obviously have great cognition. You should hear her horror stories. Jo and N will be fine!
So. I'm pretty positive I broke or cracked my pinkie toe. My H thinks so too.
Any idea how long that takes to heal? I've got it taped to the toe next to it. I just don't want to spend the money on urgent care if that's the only things they'll do anyway.

Ouch. I broke mine in college and it took a bit to heal, especially because I walked a ton around campus and had to wear flip flops. I ended up taping my pinky toe to the next one in to help support it and that helped a lot. I ended up with a nasty bruise on the top of my foot that was every color of the rainbow before it was all said and done.
Be easy...a couple weeks into healing I re-stubbed it on the same damned door way and re-broke it which was awesome!

Ugh! That must have been awful!
I have it taped to the toe beside it and will keep it in sandals/flip flops. My toe is a lovely purple/green color right now. I figure there is no reason to go see a dr. I've been told they won't do much more for me. Just frustrating since I was starting to work out again!
graciest719 and portuguesemama I agree with the others that it is ok if you have very little "real" words right now. I think my nephew was around 18+ months before he started forming his first word.

Ca you keep it taped and snug in a tennis shoe? I remember mine hurt too much for that kind of shoe. Also, I agree no reason to see a dr unless it is poking out the side!
I broke my middle finger once. The middle section. I had a middle finger splint and all! Lol!!

Thanks for all of the info ladies. I know that N is crazy with his motor development (he's working on actual jumping, spinning, and trying to on take stairs standing up, one at a time), but it's hard when you just want to hear what they're thinking!
sjep922 - You're doing the right things. Try to elevate, ice, and you can do ibuprofen/Motrin for discomfort and swelling. Broken bones take 6-8 weeks. If it's overly painful in regular shoes, you can pick up a stylish, hard sole medical shoe that will help. Just try to take it easy mama! It should start to really feel better in a week or two so don't worry that you'll be in immense pain for 6 weeks.
graciest719 and portuguesemama, hugs! The babies will have words eventually. I was where you are now a year ago. Fast forward a year and LG says 4 and 5 word sentences! Don't worry too much but keep an eye on it and keep mentioning it to the pedi.

sjep922 - I second what rva said - core, arms, bike if you can. Even if you do upper body fix (though I haven't done it, so I can't confirm it won't use your toes much haha) for a week until you can bear the pain of using it more. Just maintain your good eating habits and do what you can.
In other news, R fell out of the water raft and was sinking to the bottom of the pool until I grabbed him. I was within arms reach thanks god and he seems to be fine. He came up crying but not coughing and the nurse line told me what to watch for. Scary shit though!
