Is it too early to start this? I need to get my questions as least written down.
So, ladies, this will be the running thread where we can ask questions. We have a wealth of STM+ moms here that I think could offer so useful knowledge.
Don't be shy! Ask all of your pregnancy, labor, parenting, baby and baby gear questions here!!
ETA: I also want to point out that this is a flame free thread. I will probably have the most silly questions. I hope I'm not the only one.

So at what point do normal people start a registry? I've had an Amazon wish list going for a couple years that I could start moving over to a registry. But is that weird?

mustloveerica I don't think that's weird. You can always keep it private until you're ready to share. Asking for recs on strollers, seats etc here to help you make your list makes sense. We had that on my BMB when I was a FTM and found it so useful.
mustloveerica, for my DD, H and I started a registry at BRU super early because they were running a gift card promotion for new registrants! Like, less than 8 weeks early.

mustloveerica, I waited to start my registry until we found out DD was going to be a girl at the 20 week anatomy scan, but there's nothing wrong with starting early. People probably won't start looking for it until it gets close to your shower so it can be a work in progress for a while.

I agree people probably won't start looking at it until later. With our registry I started early and fine tuned it as we went. I don't think people started to look until closer to my shower.

I think I started my registry in the 2nd trimester. It is never to early to start! Do multiple registries. Most offer completion coupons! I signed up for Target and BRU last pregnancy.

Nothing wrong with working on your registry! We didn't have a registry for DS, but didn't start doing the Amazon order until like 8 months. I spent way too much time stressing about not doing it, though. My favorite resource for baby gear is Lucie's List. It helped us a ton.

Not that I need them yet, but who has good quality yet cheaply priced maternity clothes?
And also maternity bras. I'm terrified of my boobs growing more because I'm going to have to do a specialty shop I think.
I bought a bunch of Liz Lange combo maternity/nursing dresses from Target that got a lot of wear and they held up well; I plan on using most of them this time around too. I couldn't stand the restricting feel of pants on my pregnant belly, but know other women swear by the support they give. You may want to wait and see what you prefer before buying too many pieces.

jennykat I love the v-neck nursing tanks from destination maternity. They work for pregnancy and afterwards.
I also like Target. I got a few cute sweater dresses there. However, I think you can get better deals at Kohl's with sales and Kohl's cash. I was really happy with their clothes.
I will add that while I really liked my tunics for second trimester. I didn't like them as much in the end of 3rd trimester. I didn't feel like enough of my butt was covered lol
Some of my favorite maternity clothes came from Kohls and also Belk and Sears. They usually don't have huge selections, but I always found something.
As far as bras go....ill be watching this for suggestions, as whatever I purchased last time around (I think Target brand) was horrible, or maybe I just didn't get the right size. I'm going to need different bras here soon.

mustloveerica, you can always start a registry, add stuff to it, buy it, and get the rewards back! I am not having a shower (second baby) but I want all the completion rewards from a registry, so I plan on adding stuff I know I will need to buy for #2 so I can reap the benefits
Is anyone trading their single stroller in for a double? I really like our city mini gt, and I'm sad that I might have to get something else. The double version of this stroller seems huge and expensive.
Also, how do you grocery shop (alone) with a toddler and infant? I'm like freaking out about how to do anything with 2 small humans.

I had the most luck with the Gap. Their active maternity stuff is to die for and the tshirts and tanks are the most comfortable maternity clothes I owned - hands down! They don't carry it in every store, but they do online (where you can usually use a coupon or discount).

I was planning on it, but my sister is gifting me her City double that her kids are out growing! It is a honking stroller, but if it's free, it's for me.
I plan on shopping with toddler in seat in cart and wearing the baby!

A thought for FTMs! If you plan on having more kids, consider a single stroller that can turn into a double stroller! My sister suggested this when I was pregnant with #1 and I didn't listen, so if she wasnt giving me her double stroller, I would have to shell out more cash for a double. I bet there are more brands, but the Citi Select single can turn into a double with the purchase of a second seat! (I think this is how it works)
Shifting gears a bit: any STM give birth in a teaching hospital? Curious to hear more about your experience.
Oh yes. I gave birth (and had all my prenatal appts) to DD1 at a teaching hospital and will for #2 as well. I personally didn't mind for one second... Everything is supervised and extremely informative for me as a patient. Lots of things had to be done twice, but hey, two sets of eyes/hands are better than one!
I also come from a family with a lot of people in the medical field. My mom is a nurse and my husband is a clinical pharmacist. I work for the teaching hospital I delivered at as well. They have have have to learn. These are our furture doctors!
If you have any specific questions, ask away! I am an open book

I have the city mini gt double and love it. Not huge as far as most tandems go. Fits thru most every door, except well, you know childrens stores like Gymboree where a damn umbrella stroller won't even fit in.
Of course, price tag is a bit much, but was worth it for us since we do a lot of day trips to theme parks, zoo, aquarium and needed space for DS1 to nap if needed. DS1 is 6 and stil fits comfortably in it. It's also in amazing shape 3.5 years later.
We ordered it off amazon where it was the only thing on our registery for DS2 so we could get the completion discount.

+1
So many people I know who were planning to have kids close together ended up buying two full featured strollers within 1.5 - 2 years. If it's even a possibility save yourself some time, effort and money. There are quite a few now that work awesome as single strollers even if you never end up buying that second seat.
For reference, I'm a 34F regularly and a G or H breastfeeding. I tried 5+ different brands last time and this time around I will be buying all of them from Bravado. I wore their bliss bra well after I was done breastfeeding as well because it was comfy and still flattering.
If you want something a little prettier I recommend Anita. They have some cute stuff and you can get good deals on them at Amazon. Plus they lasted a lot longer than the other brands that tend to specialize in being pretty.

Target has good maternity clothes. I also used Motherhood Maternity and liked theirs better but they were a little more expensive than Target.
I never got a maternity bra, just bought bigger as needed. I bought from Target because I figured I'd only be in that size for a little bit and I'm glad I did because I was back in my pre-pregnancy bras shortly after weaning DD.
