Confession: I have all white hangers for myself and give my husband the scraps. No metal but he gets the rest. I just don't look on the left side of the closet. Oops. We have fancy velvety gray hangers in coat clay bc they work pretty well for coats. My clothes are also in color order. Yasssss!
I've moved onto paper. it's quite daunting, but i got in the rhythm and am sorting things. Throwing stuff in a pile for shredding (Socials and personal info), then a pile for straight recycling bin. I've gotten rid of a lot of manuals and tax statements. I'm going to just throw tax filings into bins by year. i've kept 2009 to present. I plan to shred a year every time we do taxes. Important documents (except for the house which is all on legal paperwork) will just go in one file to be kept. If i need something, it i will be easy to find since I don't have much saved.
Found wedding information for all the shuttling we had to do for our guests from the airport to their accommodations. 10 years ago as well dc2london
After i'm done, I need to tackle a seamless plan for incoming mail. MH likes to go through mail at the banister, then just tear in half if it needs recycling. No clue why he can't just throw in the recycling. Grr
I have a rolling file system where I shred the current month of the previous year's paperwork on the 1st of each month. So on February 1, 2017 I will shred the old paperwork from February 2016. It helps keep my long term filing from getting OOC

I keep opening my cupboards just to see how pretty they are. I also managed to get rid rid of the bins above my fridge. It looks so much more spacious now.
I did my freezer, fridge, tea, coffee, and alcohol. I googled everything I wasn't sure about to see if it was still good.
OMG I threw out so much! But now I know what's in there and that it's all good. And my tea collection is under control and I can add one new tea. Much excite!
I started decluttering Jan 10 and my boxes for charity have been sitting in my office and spilling out into the hallway every since. I need to itemize the rest this weekend because they pick up next week. I will feel so better once it is all gone. Also, I posted my complete cloth diaper stash on a local FB group and Craigslist. It was taking up two huge tubs. If it doesn't sell by pick up, it's going too.
Paper is almost done. I am already thinking of all the things to do after this process is over. I hope to do touch up painting and working on making it show ready of we ever sell the house.
I did spices today. I didn't realize that H had been buying duplicates and then not getting rid of the old ones. I though I had a couple of duplicates- nope I had 7! So got rid of those and Put spices on top of a container so I could see the back ones better. Now I can see them all without moving them around. Let's see if H notices and keeps it organized.
I found one I don't think we have used in a long time- expired in 06. Yuck!

I didn't get much done with conferences the past two days but I did get my workout clothes, underwear, bras and camis done. All fit in their respective drawers now with room to spare. Looks so much better.
My actual closet and clothing will have to wait until next week. We are out of town this weekend.
We dropped off two big bags at our local shelter for young mothers. DS wasn't sure at the beginning but when I told him it was clothes and toys he was too big for and it was for the babies who needed more toys he was all in. He even helped me carry it from the car. He was very proud.
I still have to go through cleaning supplies. I have a couple of junk drawers in my kitchen to go through.
Still have papers left- saving them for last.
I think that is all I have left. My problem is staying on top of it. I mean I do somewhat, but sometimes it just gets out of hand, and I start shoving things places instead of putting it in the proper place or recycling/ trashing it.
I have a massage thing that doesn't really work for us (brand new in box) to get rid of and a wine thing to get rid of (also brand new in packaging).
Still deciding on Halloween costumes and train table. I need to look up things to put in the space for the train table. If I don't find anything cool, I might leave it in case we could turn it into a lego table later on.
I threw out my old elementary school paperback yearbooks.
I had a lot of half started scrapbooks from my younger years. I tore out the pages that I'd worked on and put them in a file folder of memory stuff that I wanted to keep then threw out the bulky book parts.
I KonMari folded my cloth diaper stash, took a pic and got lots of emails for my Craigslist post. Posted yesterday and they are already out of my house. Wheh!
I haven't read the book, but this thread has inspired me to declutter. I really like the idea of bringing joy. It's helped me get rid of things that I probably would have been waffling on previously. So far I've done my clothes, sheets, blankets, got rid of old ratty towels and replaced with new ones, toys, books (including kids books and cookbooks), and organized my pantry with new bins from Target. I used to work for a house keeping company, and right before I quit, they restocked me on supplies, so I had an entire trash bag full of brand new microfiber towels that we took to the local animal shelter. Anyone know where I can take other cleaning supplies, like scrub brushes? Next I'm going to be doing art supplies...I'm pretty sure I still have paints from when I was in school for fashion design almost 10 years ago. I should also do home decor that I don't display anymore; can that stuff go to Goodwill too? I have like 5 trash bags worth of donations sitting at the foot of my bed and in my closet, but I'm waiting for FI to go through his clothes before I schedule a pickup.
We did part of the kitchen today. The kids were at my parents and DH just started spontaneously going through the cabinets. He's the cook so I couldn't go HAM, but he got rid of lots of stuff. I also did most of the linen closet.
I finished paper today. It feels like a weight is lifted. I do manage to see random papers in the house (like way up at the top of my kid's closet, she's five so it definitely wasn't something she put up there, or in the basement) and I remove right away. I think I have everything covered. All tax years are neatly organized and official documents thrown in one place.

I've definitely slowed in my progress.
But, I was thinking today about what our house used to be like - we had 1-2 rooms that were full of crap and embarrassing. Plus, closets and everything else that was overfull of stuff.
And that's not the case anymore. All of our bedrooms are livable (and mine and H's are very minimal). Our big hall closet still could use some work but it's not overflowing or anything. I love being in our house, we've got furniture and furnishings that make me happy. Reading Kon Mari a year or however long ago, definitely helped get us to this point.
I just pulled out each pre-pregnancy size and kon maried them. I'm halfway through and donating about half of it. After I reach a solid weight loss plateau I plan to gather all of my clothes and KM them properly.
Same here. I'm 3 months postpartum so it will probably be a while before my size really regulates. And then when I stop breastfeeding that will cause some weight gain too. I kept a few pairs of jeans in every size from a 4 to a 10 but still got rid of a good amount of stuff. The four is probably wishful thinking lol. I don't think I've worn that since before I ever got pregnant.
