Ugh this is my first baby who gets crusty eyes. She haaaaaaaates having them cleaned. But I can't handle the gunk. Any other mamas who have babies whose colds manifest in stuck shut eyes? Tips besides warm washcloth (that's all I've been doing...)? Poor kiddo...
DS had a clogged tear duct foreeeeever. Warm washcloth worked the best because it would soften it up the quickest. I'd try to hold it on for a few seconds to help soften it before wiping, but I know the fight.
Omg I haven't had a chance to check in today! I'm buried under a mountain of laundry. I did 4 loads today. And will probably have to do 2-3 tomorrow. H uses a new towel every single time he showers or gives DD a bath. He refuses to hang up towels to let them dry and reuse again. Maybe I need to make him do the towels and see just how tedious it is.
Last night both DD and DS STTN. It was glorious. Plus when DD woke up, she said she was feeling better. She still has sores and a cough from the HFM, but I *think* the worst is over. On the downside, H has been dealing with a migraine for going on 2 weeks now. He saw the doctor on Tuesday about it. And our doctor gave him some meds to help deal with it. He also said that maybe eventually H should get a brain scan. Why he didn't set it up for sooner rather than later, I have no idea.

When DS had HFM the worst was the day he got the fever and the next day or so while his mouth hurt from the sores inside. Then it was pretty much fine. The sores on his hands and feet didn't bother him, but they didn't blister/ooze at all. I put coconut oil mixed with essential oils on them and I think that helped a ton.
We got out to see Santa. Both kids were bears to get out of the house because I had to cut off their nap at the end to make it. DS wouldn't put on anything decent so he wore a stretched out Paw Patrol shirt (eye roll). When we got to the restaurant we picked a table and started to set our coats and things down and Santa walked right over to start talking to DS. Then he started to say hi to DD, who I was holding, and he touched her arm and she leaned into me away from him and started swatting her arm back at him to not touch her, and instantly started freaking out. Lol the swatting was quite comical. DS was surprisingly cool (he's always been terrified) and went right up to sit with him and told him what he wanted. We stayed and ate an early supper and are now just being mellow, playing with the kids at home.

Yeah the sores on her hands and feet didn't ooze or blister at all. I think the ones in her mouth hurt quite a bit.
I'm now wondering when she can return to daycare? When all the sores are gone completely?

From what I've heard, is once they are dry/crusted over. But if they aren't oozing or breaking open I think she should be ok. She would have already exposed everyone this week if she was there. I think it's most contagious in the first stages when you don't even realize they have it yet.

She actually missed daycare both days this week. First due to my car battery troubles on Monday and then from the HFM on Wednesday. I think she missed being there a bit. She asked a few times if we could go to daycare. Hopefully she'll be able to go Monday.
So some time ago, probably over a week ago for sure, I thought I felt something hard when checking DD's gums. I check for signs of teeth periodically. On top. I even thought I saw a tiny tip of a tooth but couldn't get in there real well. Today I got a better look, and both my mom and I got a good look in there and we can see the outline of her 2 front top teeth on the front of her gums. And the teeny tiny corner tip of one of them is actually kind of broken out of the gum. Like they are just sitting right there, and I'm wondering how long they've been there. I'm thinking awhile.
I can't find any signs of teeth being there on bottom yet. I wonder if the bottom will actually make their way before the top come out or not.
chocolate I could see his top teeth outlined in the gums for about a week or two before they finally popped through. So weird.
Yeah it seems so long ago when I first noticed, and couldn't get a better look to confirm then, but today definitely. Wonder if they'll truly come out of order or if her bottom are really there and about to poke through at the same time. I was having much better luck getting a view and feel of the top but I don't *think* there is anything there on bottom.
Hi! We're here in one piece. Thanks for asking. Fortunately/unfortunately, our early arrival opened the opportunity to spend the day helping friends move. Grumble.

DD has three on the top that have looked like they're going to break through at any moment now for at least two weeks. There was a fourth that actually did come through ... but teeth are so weird. I don't know what to expect with them.
Related: Tooth 7 (top lateral incisor) finally popped through yesterday. I assumed 8 would pop within a day or two like the bottoms did, but I see no signs of it.

Glad you're there safe but ew to helping people move during vacation after having just traveled with a baby. rivers and roads
Pretty normal day around here. SS had taekwondo which delayed nap time for L, but she didn't do too bad with it this weekend. I finally finished the photo books for my mom and grandparents and put a rush order on those. Otherwise just chores and chillin'. DH is playing a show tonight and I got to go for a bit and feel like a real person with a social life. Of course L woke up shortly after I got home, but she just fussed for a while and is back asleep now. I'm laying in bed watching Planet Earth: Seasonal Forests, which is my favorite other than the ocean episodes, so I'd call it a good day overall.
trtlcrzy are you in jail because you killed your husband??
Haha, nope not in jail. Busy day here. DH let me sleep in and then shortly after that I had to leave to pick my sister up at the hospital. Then we came back home and went with DH to get my sister's car because she can't drive. From there we made a Costco trip. After that we hung out at home for a couple hours, during which time I cleaned up my living room, and then to my older sister's house for supper and games. I'm finally going to bed at 1:30am. Tomorrow morning we are going to the IL's house for brunch for FIL's birthday. Then lazy day at home. It's supposed to be super cold.

Both of my girls get goopy eyes with colds. Warm washcloth in the morning is all I do. Sorry

We're up at 6:30 again. It's the WEEKEND KID!! Not much going on today. I baked a bajillion cookies last night and need to make peanut butter ones today. I also need to finish some laundry and pick an interview outfit. Dh is staying with Ryan while I go tomorrow, which doesn't happen that often. I might stretch an errand or two afterwards. I need to pump a bunch today to have lots of milk and then contingency milk too.
Married 10/10/10! TTC Baby #1 since April 2014 BFP Oct 16 - EP terminated Nov 6 2014 Off the Bench January 2015! BFP #2 June 1 2015 - EDD Feb 12 2016! Baby Boy born 15th February 2016!

I have to do the majority of our Christmas shopping this week. I didn't want to buy early and then pay to ship it or pay for an extra bag on the plane. h and I are doing a date day instead of exchanging, so I guess it's just my parents really and they should be easy. H exchanges with everyone (aunts, uncles, cousins)which is wild to me. So expensive and unnecessary to me. The youngest kid is like 16 so it's basically just buying gift cards for everyone and I hate it.

Yeah I exchange with everyone as well - I only spend like $15 per person for aunts/cousins but it's just stuff that I have to do. I think I have about 10 people to buy for including parents/grandparents (plus H and DS but I have their stuff)

I liked buying presents for all the cousins when they were kids, but now it's basically just a great gift-card exchange. I'd rather we all just keep our money to each spend whereever we please.
Also, this. Because it's hilarious and 100% true (but I'm also a candle giver and now I feel bad!)
rivers and roads We do a lot of gifts but not between cousins and aunts/uncles and whatnot. For that we do white elephant. So much cheaper, and more fun.
Also, that video is amazing. I feel like it's the same for blankets, lotion/hand soap, and cocoa/mugs.
