You know what's creepy? DD decided to point to the corner of her room and say "ghost" last night at like 2:30am. I was definitely freaked out then. After I got her back to sleep, I pretty much ran back to my room lol
I can't believe some babies here are up to 8 or more teeth. DS just got his first today. Luckily it hasn't been affecting his eating or drinking while teething, so here's hoping it stays like that for future teeth.

Both of my children have been absolutely off the chain insane today. DH and I have been talking about running away for the last five hours. Thank god for bedtime. It's quiet in my house for the first time. I may not even talk to DH the rest of the night just to maximize the peace.

Yep, H cut 7 in one month but a couple of slightly restless nights and some whiny days was all we saw from her. Apparently my kids teethe like champs. The only ones that were rough on DD1 were her two year molars and that involved runny noses and vomiting.
DS just cut his top two front teeth (#3 and 4) this past week.

Also, why is it that any time you think "let's do something special as a family" it inevitably turns into a shitshow? We got a gingerbread train kit thinking it would be something fun for us to do with SS during L's nap. It ended up being him jumping, yelling, and dancing around us while DH struggled to build the thing and I kept trying to clean pieces of candy and drops of icing he was getting everywhere. Kids man.

I feel this way about fun family vacations or trips. I hope you get to eat that candy in peace. What do you have? I hear it pairs well with wine.

Haha, sadly the wine I had saved for tonight is gone already. It was that serious I started a bit early. There was for sure not enough left in that bottle to bring me back to sanity.
Yep, we've had 4 in the last month. They can stop for a while now, right? You hear that, babies?!
I think she is almost out of teeth for the time being. But they come in pairs, so I have to power through tooth number 8 first. But really, after 2 weeks of torture for #6, this one was fairly uneventful.

Can I Dear Diary? This isn't important, I just want to complain. Feel free to scroll if you're busy, you won't miss anything.
I'm making a conscious effort to try to like my dad's awful gf while we are home this time. I figure if she's going to be around, I should at least try to find some good in her, but damn it's hard.
My dad stops by my mom's (where we are staying) to see X frequently, but I figured I'd try to be inclusive and asked if we could come over their place to visit today. He kept pushing back the time we were supposed to come over, while I see that she is tagging him in pictures of them "having a great time!" on FB. She only EVER posts pictures of them together when I'm in town. Maybe it's a weird coincidence, but it feels very "ha ha, he's spending time with me and not you" kind of nonsense.
So we get there. Knock several times over about 3 minutes. I can hear someone walking around on the other side of door, but no one is answering, so I called my dad. "I just ran out to get wine, but she's there." "Is she? I've been knocking but no one is answering." and then suddenly she opens the door and says "Well that happened quickly!" What? Me calling my dad while you walk around ignoring us inside? I feel like she was just peering through the peep hole at us the whole time or something.
So the entire visit, she stood in the kitchen playing on her phone while we sat in in the living room (the rooms open into each other, but still.. weird). I tried to engage her, ask her questions about her family, etc.. There were moments of normalcy. At some point before my dad returned, I was mid sentence to her and her phone rang. She picked it up and walked out of the room, not even a "oh sorry, one second." At one point, she responded to something I had said with a catty "RAR!" response. I didn't even say anything bitchy, I just clarified something about H's beer brewing. Then after like 30 minutes of her not saying anything, she announced that she was going to get something from her car and left. 20 minutes later, she still was not back. X was getting fussy, so I said we were going to get going. My dad was walking us out, and as we were going out, I saw her sitting in the community lounge watching TV. She had her coat off and such, not like she had just stopped while walking by really quick. WTF?? My dad walked over to her and she said she was watching the news to get the weather. Despite the fact that they have a TV and I'm sure there's a weather app on that phone she was staring at the whole time.
Come on, lady. I'm no threat to you. I am his daughter and I live halfway across the country from you guys. I don't get it, but I think I've done my duty in trying to be open to her. My dad can just come over my mom's, but I'm not going out of my way to mess up my son's nap schedule to feel unwelcomed in someone's house.
rivers and roads Wow. I don't even know what to say. You're already handling way better than I (who basically told my dad he should break up with the floozy when we had a similar situation a while back). I hope the rest of your vacation is better.
rivers and roads you're a nice person for making an effort, haha. She sounds like a chore. I think your dad has seen and hopefully noticed your attempt. You can be done now, I think

I said this exact same thing about decorating Christmas cookies. I feel like it's often the case. Kids, for real.

Our cookie decorating turned into me decorating all the cookies and H eating sprinkles, so yeah I get that sentiment.

Yup. Or him dumping the whole GD thing of sprinkles on one cookie and then wanting to eat all the raw dough. I took pics and then sent him off for dad time while I finished...
