Our friends are having a little Christmas party at their house tonight, and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth keeping dd2 up past her bedtime, having her fall asleep on the way home, then take who knows how long to go back to sleep once we get back.
I kind of want my H to just take dd1, while I stay home and keep dd2 on her normal routine, but that seems so lame. Plus, I really do want to see these friends. They have a 6 month old who I haven't seen in a few months.
NellieOleson - I feel your pain - we are facing a similar dilemma on Christmas ... Christmas dinner is at 3pm and it is an hour away - so we'll likely be driving home at 6pm and DD will fall asleep - then be up until God knows how long. I think we will have a designated person sit in the back and try to keep her awake for as long as possible :/
My vote is that you go - but I know it's going to be majorly sucky

My husband is about to get punched in the dick.
I have to make a pie and a soup today to have ready for tomorrow. We also need to go to the grocery store at some point, and my dad is visiting - arriving sometime between 11 and noon. (Thanks, dad!)
I asked H how he wanted to tackle the day, and he was like "I don't know? Go to the store later?" I reminded him about the soup and pie and suggested he run to the store soon so that after my dad left he could hang out with the girls while I cooked. Logical, right? Nope. Apparently this is impossible because the specialty beer store he NEEDS to go stock up at doesn't open until noon. He doesn't see how this is fucking annoying and how much I don't care about getting more beer for the weekend. I assure you we already have PLENTY of delicious craft beer on hand. Plus stuff for Bloody Marys.
I just can't believe he thinks getting more beer is more important than not not having a shitty day. Of course he doesn't see how it will be shitty because I'm the one left dealing with all this bullshit.
14joa31 - If you find any good doghouses on sale, please let me know!
ETA - His suggestion now is that I make the pie and soup this morning before my dad gets here. Oh. Okay. Let me get right on that. I'll shower, get dressed, bake a pie, make a soup, clean up the kitchen, and deal with getting the kids ready all in the next 3 hours. The whole afternoon will be free for beer! Thanks, buddy.
NellieOleson - the man who spent eight hours shopping for your gift needs to do whatever you tell him to do for the rest of the weekend. Case closed.
I think he still hasn't figured out that waiting until the last minutes doesn't really work when you are the parent of two tiny kids. Time to get with the program, jerk.
Holy moronic husbands today! So far mine hasn't pissed me off, but then, he left for work at 5:30, and I was still in bed. That might change depending on how late he is getting home. I have no idea if he's coming straight home or stopping to get my present. If he comes straight home he'll be here at about 6:30, if not, God only knows when he'll be here. On top of him being late, we also promised S that he could stay up late to watch the Grinch, so it will be a late night all around. We have to do some wrapping after the kids are in bed too.
Mine hubs is sick. I told him two days ago to not forget to get himself cough medicine. He came back with cough drops and thought that was just fine. Well day three of racking cough and. NOw he is crying about needing medicine. I just want to beat my head on the wall. Fucker is setting himself up to avoid going to Christmas at my dads this afternoon. So annoyed. Sorry I hope everyone's hubs get their shit on point and that you all have a good day. 😘

H is supposedly at home building something that looks similar to this to display J's art work he brings home from daycare. I'm going to hang it above his dresser.
And hubs has officially bagged out for the day. So annoyed. Not even responding because I will just be bitchy I know he doesn't feel good but I feel like he always does this. Family stuff at holidays is always a battle.

We are driving home. DD just spent one hour screaming trying to avoid her nap. She finally succumbed but it still "snuffling" in her sleep. It's a bit heartbreaking. I'm ready to be back home and get the last few things we need for Christmas dinner (prime rib!!!) and relax tonight.

NellieOleson This Irish Cream is delicious. I'm calling mine the Caribbean version. H read cocoa powder as coconut powder. Powdered coconut milk is a thing as it turns out.

That sounds delicious! A serendipitous misreading, if you ask me.
I just had another glass. I had to make sure it tasted good on day 2. It does. Ha.
H's work screwed up. Now he works next week and has the week after off. It wouldn't be a problem, but his family GTG is next Friday. So I have no idea what we're going to do about that. FML
Ok I've just spent a long time getting caught up on this thread. Sorry for dick husbands, I would also love to declutter, and yum to homemade peppermint bark. Sorry I've been MIA so much. Excuses, excuses. We're pretty much up to same old, same old. Working a lot, getting ready for Christmas (spent all night cooking and now catching up on TCF with wine). So just wanted to say hi!

What's up with the husbands this week?? I'm still feeling very weak today, but I'm excited for the kids to open some of their presents tonight. They got *so many* (mostly from my mom) that we decided to open hers tonight while we skype with her and then the rest in the morning.
Hi! Wanted to pop in and say happy holidays to you wonderful ladies! Miss you all and sorry I can't keep up. I will have a one year old tomorrow. So happy and so sad he's not officially a baby anymore!
I have a full face of makeup and are off to Christmas Eve festivities. Plan to be drinking champagne by noon

It's been hard to keep up with everyone this go round. I'm sorry. I'm joining the crappy husband club. He decided he needed to hang out with his dad for 2 days. When he came home at night he kept giving into DD1's tantrums. Gave her candy right before bed, went against me saying no, and did what he wanted. We "had" to make cupcakes at his moms because she turned the oven on even though it was 830 which was bedtime. He was too busy to help with ideas for DD2's birthday. He refused to get off the couch so it was a normal day of sitting around for him. When I got the cupcake all ready for DD2 his dad showed up and they sat there and talked for 20 minutes instead of doing the cupcake and song. By the time they were done DD2 was over it and wasn't happy, wouldn't smash it, and wouldn't eat any. We are finally all done with our 3 week stomach bug. But now DD1 has a 101 fever and nothing hurts. No clue what to do about it. I'm so excited for Christmas this year as DD1 has been excited for Santa and gifts.
I brought my nails polish to my mom's house on the off chance I get time to paint my nails. It's unlikely. I have to bake cookies, shop with my dad, and wrap presents for him. My morning started with a poosplosion, and now I'm sitting in a parking lot with my kids waiting for my mom to run in "for a second" it's been like 10 minutes. I need a nap or coffee or food. M is not thrilled about still being in the car. S is surprisingly being chill about it
Woo hoo! Got my dad's shopping done in 90 minutes, got "his" wrapping done on about 45, now I'm going to have a snack or something and wait for H to get here. Then we'll pack up the kids and go home, hopefully get them to bed on time-ish, and then finish my own wrapping.
Just wanted to check in ( I haven't read the whole thread yet), but I am back from our family vacation and it was great for the most part. DH spent most of the time with DD in the water park and I played with DS in all the dry activities. I just can't get into a swimsuit when I see snow outside. I am always cold and the pool water is just a nightmare. I need a hot tub. Basically, I hate water parks, ie, I am not the fun mom. Nevertheless, both DD and DS had a great time. I developed a horrible infection in my root canal so I actually had to go to a dentist there for pain management. I have surgery on Monday to fix it. Merry Christmas to me!
All in all, I am just happy to be back home. There really is no place like home Will catch up with y'all later!

I love Christmas Eve. DD was super adorable tonight at my moms. We came home and read 'Twas The Night Before Christmas and she went right to sleep. DS put out cookies and milk for Santa and went to sleep early!! I made cinnamon rolls and we played Santa. Currently watching Its A Wonderful Life and drinking a gingerbread beer.
