Someone asked me today about Irene's sleeping. And I realized I have completely given up on the idea of her sleeping through the night. And that I really rely on coffee to function.

I just laugh at people now. A good night for B is waking up twice before getting up around 6:45 for the day. I've accepted this is our normal for now.
He goes down around 7:30pm, and is up anywhere between 11-12 and 2-4. I am thankful he goes back down quickly and sleeps in his own crib.
I can deal with two wake ups. I feel like it's in the realm of normal for 5 months, but most people in my circle would disagree so I try not to talk sleep issues.
Sam usually takes 3-4 naps a day and is always SO FUSSY. Today he took one big nap and has been the happiest, smiliest baby ever. I don't understand what's going on, but I'll take it. I'm curious to see how tonight goes after such a good day! *Furiously knocking on wood*

Hey we had a better night. 3 hour stretches instead of 2 so only 3 wake ups! If only he could make it 4 hour stretches with 2 wake ups - then I might be able to function.

Isn't it awful how much these babies switch things up so that we can't even pinpoint the problem??
I *think* Baby R's night problems stem from crap naps and being overtired. Then on Christmas she napped like 45 minutes the entire day and has people in her face constantly and had one of her better nights. I'm like wha...?

So how was last night? I hope better!
He was up 3 times which is basically the usual, but the last feeding ended at 6:45am and I put him down afterwards...He slept until 10:15 which means I slept until then too! It was marvelous haha
Well, as expected, we had a God awful weekend of sleep because of traveling. We drove most of the day Friday, so M slept a lot in the car and actually had a great first night... went down a little after 7 and slept until 330 in the pack n play, then was in bed with me until 6. Then she took a solid morning nap Saturday... and it all went downhill from there. Crappy or non existent naps, up all night, you name it we had it. Luckily, she still managed to be happy and smile-y for the tons of new people she met all weekend but very eager to get back to our routine.

Good luck! We did that last week, and while things weren't good, they weren't any worse so I guess that's a successful transition. I hope you fare better or at least the same.

This was exactly how our "transition" went. Dude started rolling over in it so we had no choice.

melody330, is B still moving around the crib and getting stuck and waking up? Since getting out of the MM Suit, E spins around and his head gets stuck between the crib bars (well not really between but you know what I mean) waking him up. I want this phase to end! My DS1 was a board when he slept so I have no clue what to do with this baby.
Thanks rungirlrun!! I'm off this week so figured it was the best time to do it in case it is a struggle. She can't sleep in it forever right? (To be honest I do think the magic is gone)

Regardless of when E falls asleep, he always wakes up at 10. It's so odd. Usually he goes to bed around 7, but the other day, he didn't fall asleep until 9:15, and he was still up at 10. I'm attempting a dreamfeed at 9:45. If he wakes up at 10, I will lose my mind.
rungirlrun unfortunately, yes he still moves around. Both my boys are movers and shakers when they sleep. DS1 was all over his crib too. Now he's in a full size bed and I'm amazed he's only fallen out once (he's got rails on both sides).
B has gotten better about it though. It doesn't get too stuck anymore. A sleep sack helped with keeping his feet and legs from getting caught in a slats. Sorry you're going through it too.
I have tried dream feeds too. They don't do crap for us.
I'm going to call last night a success and hope it keeps moving in the right direction. After 3 wake ups between 7 and 10, my expectations were set pretty low. But she only got up once at 2:45, ate and went back to sleep until 6:45 when she got up for the day.

So last night was.....totally horrible and also amazing.
Naps were shit yesterday because of visiting, travelling, etc. We got home and put him down at 11:55. At 1 he was up SCREAMING. He continues to scream until pulling our hair out we gave him a bottle (usually I nurse). He crushed 5 oz, pooped, and passed out at 3:25. He just woke up now........at 10:22!!!
This makes me want to give him a bottle before bed every night. But I can't pump enough to feed him at night and while I'm at work.

Ray I've found that E often sleeps longer with a bottle if I'm out. I think it's bc he's so tired at bedtime that he doesn't nurse much bc he can't stay awake and the bottle is easier. So my new strategy is to feed him a bit more frequently in the late afternoon/early evening and keep him awake during his last feed to get him to eat more. It's only been 2 nights of this, but I'm hoping so much that between that and sleep training, it makes a difference.
I don't know what's been going on the past couple days. Instead of taking 3-4 naps Sam's only taken 1-2, but his sleep is improving?! Last night he went down at 8:30 and woke up at 3, that's the longest stretch we've had in a loooong time! And then he was up for the second time at 6:30 and is still sleeping away at nearly 8:30. He's also been so much happier the past few days. I don't understand babies!
mcktymck, Mikayla is starting to do the same thing! I'm not sure why I remembered, but I took a look at some of the sleep info I got from the ped at our last visit, and it actually said that is totally normal. It said eventually all babies drop the third nap and move to 2 long(ish) naps somewhere around 9 months (I think? could be wrong on the time frame). So in the months leading up to that they can go through phases of dropping it and picking it back up. Then they will also eventually drop the morning nap and only take one good nap around mid day. I know that happens between 12-18 months. Fun things!
We are having a terrible night. B refused to nap this afternoon and was miserable by 6:30. I put him down at 7, and 3.5 hours later he's been up twice. I don't get it. Last night he slept 8 straight hours. What is different dude? Tell me and I'll pay good money to fix it.
Sorry you're having a bad night @melody. Flint just slept 4, but DH and I are still up fighting again so no sleep for me. Contemplating just curling up on Flint's floor avoiding everything instead #fuckadulting

sorry you're fighting. MOTN arguments are the worst.
R was awake screaming 5x between 8 pm and midnight. After she woke up 10 minutes after I put her down the last time, I am letting her scream. I'm at my breaking point with this. It's been 35 minutes. GO THE F TO SLEEP BABY. I'm clearly MOTY for starting CIO in the middle of the night because I can't take it anymore.
