I'm kinda sad Christmas is over. It was a good one this year.
Stuck in a chair cuddling a feverish baby. I woke up in the middle of the night and she was on fire. She seems to be handing it well and is sleepy but otherwise in good spirits.
poof
H is replacing my brakes today. He did not request Fri and Sat night off from the bar he works at which has ruined our tradition of going to the cabin, playing in the snow and New Year's Eve skiiing. I'm salty about this. Trying to figure out a plan B.
I suck. L toppled off the couch backward. Fell flat on her back and bonked her head. Shit. I think she is ok but how do you really know? I could just fickign kick myself.

Ugh....it happens. So not your fault! I'd just monitor her. If she is acting normal, she is fine. These babies are so resilient.

It appears to have been a 24 hour thing. Thank goodness. Now we're both just kind of exhausted and I feel like I did a week's worth of total body workouts.
J ended up spending the night at my mom's. After his bath tonight I'm going to put him in his Santa jammies and we're going to open presents.
I so wish I didn't have to work this week. I want to Kon Mari my house and go look at options for toy storage. I'll never be able to take this week off, but I may take a few days next week. It'll be easier when H is gone and J is at daycare anyway.
Hello everyone! Big bad disappearing J'16 mom over here.
My girls had a great Christmas, and I am in disbelief that K is almost 1. It's crazy town.
kcrkcs, so scary! Just watch her, but she's probably fine. They are still so bendy and squishy at this point. I full on dropped C as a newborn and it took me a long time to stop crying and shaking. She was fine after just a minute.
silverspoon, sorry you've been sick! I took a day off this month when the girls were in school and it was the BEST thing ever.
scorpioscuba, sweet feverish baby. Glad that she's handling it well. I'm sorry about the cabin trip, too! I hope you can find a time to do it soon.
kcrkcs I always get nervous too. T fell down the steps the other day and I haven't forgiven myself (who knew toddlers could open child proof gates??)
I worked 12hr night shift on Christmas night, working 12hrs Tuesday day shift then off for 8 days!!!! Heading to the mountains for some extended family time and getting DD on skis for the first time. Wish us luck!!
gizmo - hiiii!!! Missed you!! Teething + cold = seventh circle of hell over here. For the past three nights DD has woken up every hour. Thank God I go into work tomorrow so MIL is on baby duty tonight.
At Christmas my little sister broke the news that she is pregnant and due in June!! I am over the moon excited for her!! She is my best friend. I may try to take a few days off if work once she delivers to go to Long Island and help her out!!
We had a long day yesterday. Topped off by me getting sick. I ate a cookie before H and I went to bed at like 11, and my stomach was super upset, he hunted down pepto for me and I fell asleep only to wake up 2 hours later to puke. I finally went back to bed and hour later, but woke up still feeling crappy. I went to see Fantastic Beasts with my dad, and couldn't get warm. I'm hoping whatever this is is gone by tomorrow because H has game night, and then works Wednesday.
Ugh sorry guys, posted in the wrong thread tonight. scorpioscuba, hope she feels better soon! Sorry about your NYE plans kcrkcs, PLEASE don't beat yourself up. It was an accident and I'm sure DD will be just fine. Sometimes those falls look scarier than they feel, esp to kids because they are so limber and soft. silverspoon, woo glad you guys are feeling better! gizmo, happy to see you, lady! Glad you had a good holiday! Lsquared, that sounds like such a fun vacation! I've always wanted to try skiing. 14joa31, awwww so happy for your sis!

Unsolicited advice for skiiing with DD. H used a ski harness I got off of amazon last year with DS. The year before he used a hula hoop. The harness was waaaaay better!! I hope you all have fun!!!

We were at IL's yesterday, and I'm ready for a quiet day today! When we got back, DD3 had a total and complete meltdown because she didn't nap enough while we were there. But we now have 3 quiet days (including DD3's birthday) before all the ILs come over on Saturday for a Christmas/birthday/NYE celebration.
Today is also the nanny's last official day. She'll still come occasionally to babysit, but DD3 will start daycare next Monday, so she won't be coming regularly anymore. I'm kind of relieved that I won't feel obligated to have the house somewhat picked up so often anymore! haha! Honestly, I'm also looking forward to DD3 being taken care of every morning outside of the house to give me a little more breathing room for working.
We survived Christmas with our parents. We ran all over seeing people and my LO did great.
We got home last night and decided to do our family Christmas this weekend. LO already got so many presents, I'm kind of wishing I had only gotten him one thing.
tinydancer I felt the same about dd1 and 2 the last few years and we scaled way back. It worked and dd3 got almost nothing this year which I find amusing. However, my big girls got a more reasonable amount of stuff, mostly consumable (play dough, clay, craft kits, etc) and it's much better. Age will help I think

I'm at work.
I don't believe I will be here all day. I foresee me taking half a vacation day and going home to lie down on my new couch.
We ordered a new couch and loveseat almost a month ago. The couch came in last week and we had to pick it up yesterday or they were going to ship it back to the warehouse. Now that we have all this space I'm strongly considering cancelling the loveseat. We have a recliner and a couch. I really think that's enough. I'm already envisioning a nice living room storage piece for toys and maybe a PBKids anywhere chair for J.
Dh started his new job today. He didn't get the days off he was suppose to at the last job. I'm bracing myself for the new routine and looking forward to seeing how it goes. The unknown is hard.

We had a pretty good Christmas here. DD1 was still not quite acting right, very tired not eating not talking much, but still enjoyed most of the day. (Took her to the dr yesterday and he gave us zofran and she seems better after that). Both girls made out like bandits. Where am I going to put it all. H got me a cast iron set as did my parents. H said my other gift was sold out everywhere. DD2 got 3 things from us for her birthday but her party is New Years Day so I know she'll get a ton more. H started his new job yesterday and after work he came home, I had been dealing with a 1 year old who had 5 shots and was crabby and an almost 4 year old puking and sickly kid by myself. He said hi to them then while I was trying to cook dinner he went to shower. So then I had to cook dinner, get stuff from Christmas cleaned up so we have a table to eat at, keep the kids from fighting over toys, keep DD2 from eating dog food and playing in the dog water. I was beyond frustrated that he couldn't wait till I was slightly less busy. Oh well first world problems I guess.

We met our potential nanny today. She is perfect and totally hired. She interacted with the kids right away. DS liked her and he hates all things babysitter. DD even liked her and she gives all strangers the stink face. I'm going to have her come for a few hours once or twice a week while I'm on my parental leave the last 3 weeks of Jan then she will start full time in February. I'm so relieved and excited.

scorpioscuba and crimsonandclover yay for daycare and babysitters! I asked for another year of leave and I don't know if I'll get it, but even going to work sounds like down time lately. Today has been good. I'm planning on staying home. A big piece of me wanted to take them to the children's museum or zoo, but I am so tired and my head hurts so unless that changes we are staying home. I've been trying to cut out nursing immediately before bed/nap and dd3 is not having it. She's exhausted, but crying her head off because I rocked her and sang and then put her to bed.

H would lose his head if it wasn't attached to his body.
He took J to hang out at his sister's house for the day woke he worked on a truck. He took a bag of toys, but forgot the diaper bag.
No big deal, right? His sister lives like a block away from a grocery store. Make a quick trip there, get a pack of diapers and wipes. Good to go.
Nope. He drives all the way home to get the diaper bag. His sister lives over 45 minutes away from our house. He ended up being almost 3 hours late to meet my brother to work on the truck (I can't figure out the other 1.5 hours, but who even knows at this point).
He really needs to start thinking things through a little better.
K has been going to daycare while we are off this break. I feel a little guilty about it, but three things: We have to pay anyway (we don't get "vacation" weeks until we've been there a year), we let her sleep until she's ready to wake rather than waking her like we do when we're at work and we pick her up early, and three, it's letting us get things done that need to be done and spend time with DD1.
Also, she is STILL not sleeping through the night. She usually wakes up at least once, lately, twice. She puts herself to sleep without a bottle, but will not settle herself in the middle of the night. I'm hoping that happens soon. She did it from time to time prior to the ear infections/tubes stage. She's eating solids well so it's not that she's hungry. Ugh. Big sister was/is a much better sleeper.
scorpioscuba, I'm so happy you found a good nanny! What a huge relief! crimsonandclover, woohoo more peace and quiet for quality work time! silverspoon, oh geez H! Come on. dizzycooks, I hope you are pleasantly surprised with an easy transition!

gizmo, I think your DD2 is doing better than most of the rest of us sleep wise! I don't think there are very many J16 babies sleeping through the night. Feel free to commiserate with the rest of us anytime. So good to see you back here! ❤️
I got to sleep in a little this morning because DH is working afternoon shifts this week. He also made pancakes and eggs even though he is feeling pretty sick. We had a pretty bad argument before Christmas and I can tell he is really trying to make it up to me. IDK, I'm frustrated because we'll probably fight about the same shit in a week :/ I took the kids to a playgroup today and we went out to dinner with my mom and sister. My sis is leaving tomorrow. Boooo.
