I'm not happy with our name list but I'm not coming up with anything to add... I am thinking about perusing the baby name board but they can be brutal and I'm scared of them.

I lurked over there one time and decided to never go back. Maybe look on Pinterest or some baby name sites?!

Naming a kid is hard! We had DS's name picked out for years, but we haven't fallen in love with any other boys names. We still have our girls shortlist from last time at least.

I've been to all of them. I'm a little obsessed with it. DS's name is pretty unique although becoming more popular so we need to find something in the same boat without being weird... I had the name already picked out but DH is not on board.

Maybe check the social security name list for other names ranking around the same popularity? Hopefully your H comes around.

You should, they aren't so bad. It can be really helpful to get that third party advice.
So H and I have the hardest time agreeing on names. So the name that was a runner up with DS is no longer acceptable according to H.
DS is Logan. It is not because of Wolverine but after choosing it we always joke about it. H thought it would be cool/funny especially with the new movie Logan coming out to pick another X-Men character name. Note we are not huge X-man fans we have watched the movies but not like have to be the first see or anything so I told him dumb idea. After all his "research" he brings Xavier to the table which is now totally growing on me but is it too cheesy to have Xavier and Logan??

I never would have even put two and two together. If you love the names, I wouldn't worry!

khopec I would think most people don't know that wolverine's name is Logan. I do love both those names though! DS is Fox and the name is from X-files. I'm not a huge fan and it's more of a funny thing, not a we're so obsessed with x-files that we named our kid after it type of thing.

I would definitely think you guys love the xmen with those names. Professor X and Wolverine are both major characters and with all the movies (especially Logan) I think a lot of people would realize they're both xmen.
now they won't be referred to as a sib set all the time, and Xavier is a perfectly good name, so I'm not saying don't do it, just I would notice they're both xmen

I would have no idea about the X-Men connection. I love those names.
We've actually had our #2 name selected since our first date. We were friends first and were joking around with another couple. We both loved the name Riley and it stuck. 2.0 will be Riley regardless of sex. We have middles names picked out based on our grandparent's names'.
What do you guys think about Zachary Julian for a boy or Aria Julianne for a girl? Yay or yuck?
Both good. I assume Julianne is to honour someone since you're using Julian for a boy. Aria is rising quickly in popularity but I really like the name. Zachary is a solid boys name.

Ugh baby name board sucks. Haha
So latest girl obsession is Jolene (yes like the song) and I was looking for MN suggestions and was told the name was "not her style" bc she prefers names of historical significance and not pop culture reference. Oh ok, don't think I asked if you liked it asked for MN that would go with it. <insert HUGE eye roll>

Anyway anyone have a middle name suggestion?
Do you have any family you'd like to honour? I like using the mn for that. Otherwise
Jolene Elizabeth Jolene Estelle (like pp said, I love it too) Jolene Pearl Jolene Natalia Jolene Diana Jolene Katrina Jolene Matilda Jolene Penelope
@pianolove I don't like the way Zachary Julian flows together, but I like both names. Julian is my favorite for a boy, but H has vetoed it. I also like Aria Julianne, as long as you're good with a name rising in popularity! I've always liked it.
@surfmama106 I like Jolene a lot! It's not something you hear every day, but it isn't strange. That's what we're looking for in a name. Some suggestions:
Jolene Marie Jolene Olivia Jolene Harper Jolene Estelle (I'm thirding that option!) Jolene Charlotte Jolene Madison
ETA: surfmama106 pregnancy brain got me tagging the wrong people. Oh lawdy.
Can we talk for a second about obnoxious youneek spellings of otherwise common names? I'm looking at you Xaverie (Avery - seriously a silent X?!?!) and Automne (Autumn and was none too pleased when I called her au-tom-nay) These are real life people I've encountered through work

That is French for Autumn but I am guessing she wasn't? Also it is pronounced differently than Autumn and in my opinion much less pretty it is short au-tom and and I doubt I have ever said it without the article in front... I guess you could put in the Family of names like Soleil.

OMG with the youneek spellings. We have friends who have a son named Conor (one day I'm going to slip and call him cone-or to his face) and they are naming their second son Ethen.

I especially roll my eyes when the spelling doesn't go with the pronounceation. Myles and mylez should not be pronounced the same. Different letters make different sounds people
My criteria for a name is a real name, no made up mish mash, spelled according to rules of English (I love Gaelic names but won't use because no one will spell or pronounce it properly)
I love Aibhlinn but won't use it - I prefer names that are generally recognized, with one common spelling and pronounciation just to avoid constantly having to spell/ correct people. My SIL has an unusual name and hates it for that reason

I read "youneek" three times as "young geek" before realizing what it actually was. I think it's past my bed time y'all.
