Good morning ladies! G decided to party in the middle of the night again. Instead of 2:30 this time it was 3:20 and was up until a little after 4:30. Ugh I need coffee but I am out. MH has my car so I can't even go and get some. Today I have to work for a few hours. I would also like to go to the grocery store. That's my big excitement.
W clapped all night in her sleep, between random squeals and screams.
It was funny, but man am I tired today. I have to get better at not bringing her to bed with me when she wakes up, it's just so much easier. And our house is so cold that I worry about her in her room (last night her room was 54° again).
I'm going to have to stay at my mom's again so my H will stop turning the furnace off at night. It's a pain in the butt, but H has to learn the hard way that I won't tolerate this any longer.
Morning! On the train on the way to the office. I couldn't stop for tea and a muffin because traffic so I'm starving. Really need to learn to eat before I leave the house. But I already get up at 530. DNW to get up at 520 just for cereal.
Unrelated, Meryl Streep is everything. Serious life goals.
linny12 Why does he turn the furnace off at night?! I can understand a timed thermostat to have it cooler while sleeping but not off completely. That's the coldest part of the whole day!

He builds a fire in our wood stove in the basement, which heats the living room and kitchen up really well (like those rooms are in the 80's), but our bedrooms are very far away from that and over the garage so they go without heat and our insulation is literally a sheet of aluminum foil because our house was built in the 50's. The Thermostat is set to 55 at night, but it's directly over the fire so it thinks the house is 90° all night, so the furnace is off.
So basically W and I freeze all winter in order to save a few dollars on our gas bill because H is dumb.
Our highest gas bill was $84/month. We both work. I think we can afford heat when it's a high of 13.
I'm calling an electrician to move the thermostat to our bedroom. Suck it H. In the meantime W and I are moving out. I'm not playing around anymore.
linny12 that is cold!!! What is W wearing to bed?? C's room sometimes gets to 63 at the coldest and I think it's super chilly!!! But she usually sleeps best when it's 63-65.
I put her in fleece footies, then cover with a fleece/Sherpa blanket. She always wakes up once the temp dips below 61 which is usually around 11pm, and I bring her to bed with me because we have a down duvet plus our body heat to keep her warm.
It's ridiculous.
Plus the new baby won't have a blanket for a while so H is going to have to get used to using the furnace instead of living like it's the year 1632.
I have a feeling that if he were the one having to get up every night with a baby that's cold and then deal with her tossing and turning and kicking and clapping all night long then get up at 4:30 for work, he'd feel differently about this.
linny12 - Wow. No. The electric company offers Winter Budget plans where you pay the same amount every month regardless of cost. Maybe that is an option?
linny12 That is ridiculous. I completely understand the desire to save a few dollars where you can, but not at the expense of your family, especially a baby. I cannot imagine trying to sleep in a room that cold.
I'm sorry that the only way to get through to your DH is for you to stay elsewhere. That's TP worthy.

Oh my word, that is ridiculous. I like it cool when I sleep but cool like 68 degrees. 54 degrees is freezing. I would do the same thing.
We went to the Camper and RV show on Saturday and we bought a 5th wheel! I am really excited to take the kids camping this summer, it will be so fun! We traded in our pop up. The only issue is DH's truck. He didn't realize when we bought it that it didn't have the standard axle or something, so it won't tow the weight he needs, so he wants to look at trading it in.
So potty training day one wasn't a complete failure. She understand the concept, but either a) couldn't get her undergarments off in time or b) didn't make it to the potty in time. My mom is watching her today so I'm hoping she can work some grandma magic. MH was not helpful at all yesterday and I really wanted to punch him. I don't see how he is going to do this by himself Wednesday and Thursday.

That's a good idea, I'll see if that would make him feel better about it.
Financially, we're in a very comfortable place, so there's no reason to be living like this. I'm ok with being frugal, but this is beyond. Obviously, if we were on hard times we'd do whatever we needed, but thankfully we're not in that situation and if our budget was tight, I can think of 170 things I'd cut before not heating my house in the winter.
emu0013, my parents would be so jealous! They've been looking at 5th wheels lately. My dad actually traded in his new truck for a bigger one so that when they buy one he'll be able to tow it.

Camping with the kids sounds so fun!
I'm so excited!!! DH has a Silverado but the whole axle issue is limiting him! He needs to get moving since we signed the purchase agreement! Below are a few pics of the one we are going with!
emu0013, goregous! I think they were looking at one very similar to that. I can't believe how spacious 5th wheels are, especially with all the pop out options. It's crazy.
linny12 , thank you! I highly recommend going to a show if they can, the pricing is amazing, we were looking via some dealers last summer and could not believe the difference in pricing.

They went to one on Wednesday. I'm thinking it was probably the same one you went to since we're both in NEO. My mom has one she specifically wanted to see and the dealer said it'd be there, but it wasn't. They did tell her she could get show pricing on it though. Selfishly, I hope they get one soon because then we could use it, haha.

Oh that's right! yes, the IX center! That's awesome!! lol You will have to let me know if they have any good campground recommendations! We have only camped 2 since we moved to OH!
Good morning. Just cut the kid's nails while she screamed bloody murder the whole time. Good times. DH is working from home today since I have a dentist appointment at 1. But this morning I'm taking the kid grocery shopping and then to open gym.

How exciting!! Do you have a picture? We upgrade to a 5th wheel toy hauler last year....I love it. I was just thinking the other day that I can't wait for summer! Makes me sad that it sits in storage for 8 months out of the year.
ETA: Nevermind- I see you posted some pics! I got a little carried away, camping just makes me so happy!
Yours looks awesome!!!! I am super excited! We have a pop up now, and it was fine for DH and I and friends before kids, but last summer with a 1 & 4 year old, I was about to lose my mind! haha! I can't wait for camping season! The Toy haulers were so cool!

honda13 - That's great she's getting the potty training concept down! Eli does great when it's just me. DH has zero patience or simply "forgets", and the daycare center can't get him to sit because they only place them on the full-sized toilets and hold him there. It freaks him out! Soooo...I think I'm taking a separate potty to the school so he can learn there too.

We have to give him food that he eats with one hand while we trim the other.

That's awesome! We did the 3 day method with DD and it worked great! I highly recommend it.
lgsdesigner, I talked to daycare at length an she's on board with training. She also has very few kids right now so she is able to give dd a lot of attention. Dh is just very breezy and I'm very type A. Yesterday I'm like, "get her to the potty she has to go" and by the time he gets around to it she already went. I was using the bathroom myself so I couldn't exactly just up and get her on her potty.
linny12 this is the first year we signed up for the budget plan and so far it's working out really well. We pay a flat amount all year so we aren't nervously awaiting a $300+ winter bill. We know exactly what it's going to be every month. It's really help with my budgeting for bills, etc.
