Hopefully I'm not screwing up a normal Wednesday thread.
Today had to get my testing for gestational diabetes. Ugh. Plus, I had to do a 2 hour test (not sure if this is standard in France?), which sucked because I was stuck at the lab and had to get pricked 3 times on top of drinking that nasty drink.
Good news is it's over! Hopefully comes back negative.
Halfway through the week already - yay! I'm off Friday because apparently it's going to get crazy around here on Inauguration Day.
DD did an amazing job in her toddler bed yesterday! She slept on the floor for an hour, then just moved herself into her bed and stayed there till 6:50 this morning! She was delighted when she woke up and realized she could just get out, too. Hoping for another good night tonight!
Today we have DS's first toddler time at the Y. H's aunt got it for him for Christmas and it runs through April. I'm feeling nervous because I'm too much of an introvert.
I'm hoping he runs himself into the ground and takes a super long nap this afternoon.
Hey guys! I've been totally MIA the last couple weeks. We've just been busy. C had a double ear infection and I had my wisdom teeth out last week so that was fun...
Nothing going on here today, just laundry. Hope everyone has a good day!
mcp6286 I'm glad the transition went well and your daughter found her way back in to her bed! If C gets out of bed she comes straight in to get me so I can lay her back down. At least she doesn't fight it lol
mcp6286 It's great that she move snack to her bed! Our DD decided she liked the floor better and has beem there ever since. We finally got her to sleep on a mattress on the floor, bit she didn't even want to do that at first. She sleeps great so I have just given up
I have to go grocery shopping today. With DD. She's been a disaster lately so it could be interesting. If she is good I will gladly give her whatever she wants as a reward - I just don't want to be "that mom" with the shrieking toddler again.

@kaybeeknits , ugh to the GD test. I hope you pass! I have to get my second one done in a few weeks (they made me do one in first tri because I'm overweight) and I am not looking forward to it. But luckily they're going to do my 28w appt while I wait the hour so it won't be just sitting around.
mcp6286 , I'm glad your DD is transition well to her toddler bed. DD has been in her bed for 2 months and she still won't get out of bed on her own. It's nice in that I don't have to worry about her getting out and wandering but I would like if she would get up on her own and come to our room when she wakes up in the morning.
tortor4 , I was wondering where you've been. I hope you and C are recovering well!
I was convinced it was Thursday today and was so disappointed when I realized it was only Wednesday. I'm currently in a fb debate with neighbors regarding highway noise in our neighborhood. The neighborhood is less than 3 years old and was built along I-95. We chose a lot closer to the front so we really don't hear the highway but people in other areas of the neighborhood are complaining about the noise of the highway and think the builder or county should do something about it. Ummm, you bought a house along an existing major highway. What did you think was going to happen?

emmalynn, I feel you on the fun of grocery shopping with a toddler. Grocery shopping is the only time I will let DD have my cellphone to watch videos because it allows me quickly shop in relative peace. If I don't, she refuses to sit in the cart and will touch everything on every shelf, especially glass jars and other breakable things. Also, I do most of my grocery shopping at Super Target, and DD will insist on going to the toy dept and not leave. Tell me again why I decided adding another child was a good idea. Lol.
I ironed my shirt this morning with my hair straightener and felt like a genius.
Then I made the mistake of reading the news. I can't wrap my head around how so many people can support repealing ACA, especially when that comes with no provisions for covering pre-existing conditions or prenatal care, and bringing back lifetime caps, among other things. Does anyone (aside from health insurance companies) really think that those are bad things that we need to get rid of? Surely, democrats are not the only ones benefiting from them. We need more republicans to contact their lawmakers. And WTF is the rush in repealing ACA without any signs of a replacement? I am so frustrated.
I'm home with DD today, she's had a cough and stuffy nose all week but is in a good mood at least.
I'm glad so many of you have had good experiences with transitioning from crib to bed. We're thinking of transitioning DD in mid July to give it a couple months after baby is here, and some time to get settled before I get back to work in August. We will probably have them sharing a room for a while if it works okay, but won't move kid 2 into crib until 6 months probably. The whole thing seems a little overwhelming to me. Fingers crossed we have another good sleeper, and that DD isn't as jeleous as I think she's going to be.
PirateCat, between the misinformation about ACA that's been spread, thus no push back from many R voters and watching clips of B. Devos's hearing to be Secretary of Education, I'm losing it over here. I'm a teacher (currently not working, but taught for 6 years and plan to go back), and her answers about IDEA and not understanding the difference between testing for growth and testing for proficiency sent me on a rage spiral earlier today.

PirateCat, I really think many people just have blinders on when it comes to ACA. It has been engrained in their heads that anything having to do with Obama is terrible, therefore ACA is terrible. As I've said before, I live in a very red area. MH is a mental health counselor and he has had several clients rant and rave about all things Obama and how Trump is great and will make their lives so much better. These are people on medicaid or on an ACA insurance plan, which will be gutted and they will lose coverage. Plus, conservatives are notoriously not good for the mental health field in general. People just don't think.

@kaybeeknits , I have purposely stayed away from listening to the B. Devos hearing. As someone with a child who will be entering public school during this administration, I am really worried about what the quality of her education is going to be with this idiot in charge.
ETA: I just read an article about the hearing and I liked what one mom from the Detroit area who was there to protest Devos had to say about school choice. "School choices can be a good thing – however, give me quality. My choice shouldn’t be ‘Rancid tomato’ or ‘Pick one from the garbage.’ That’s not fair.”

I woke up late so I'm waiting for my coffee to cool a bit. The one thing about french press coffee is that it's so hot when it's ready. There's a play date today with some MOPS friends, but I'm not sure if I'll go. It starts in an hour and I'm not sure if I feel like rushing around to go to it.
C and I are currently eating our weight in jelly beans. Didn't someone post a chart around Halloween with how bad each kind of candy was for you to eat? I remember jelly beans were practically like fruit compared to the other stuff. If I'm wrong, don't tell me.
PirateCat, I think it's a lot of misinformation, and also a lack of empathy. Lots of people just don't think of those who will be losing coverage. They also have faith that Trump will have something "better." I have no idea why, and it breaks my brain. Some guy I went to high school with tried to argue with me about the march this weekend, and how he "knows" I'd be flipping out if the situation was reversed. Dude hasn't seen me in a decade! I refused to argue with him so he just deleted his whole thread of responses. Coward.
Hope your wisdom teeth recovery is going well tortor4!
I had a dentist appointment this morning, which was nice and quick. The hygienist's daughter just gave birth last month at my hospital, and her experience made me feel really hopeful. She had a med-free birth, walked around a bunch, etc. and no one pressured her.
First bikini wax in forever later. Not looking forward to that one.
sleepymonkey what an odd argument to have. Like...what exactly do they want done about it? I totally get that noise bothers some people. It bothers us. So when we were looking for houses we avoided anything near busy roads. I just can't imagine buying a house near a highway that's always been there and being like "ok fix it now".
I'm glad your daughter made her way back to bed mcp6286!
It has definitely been a long week. I totally thought it was Wednesday yesterday.
On the (kind of) plus side I found out that our old bookkeeper was under paying me for the entire last year because she thought we had 27 payperiods not 26. So it's getting sorted out this week and I'm basically getting two paychecks this week. It'll be a nice addition to my savings account.

It's a common argument where I live. There are at least 2 other neighborhoods in my area that build near the highway and after a few years, they started complaining about highway noise and the county eventually built a sound wall. It's ridiculous. If you don't want the highway noise, don't buy a house next to the highway. There is also going to be a road next to my neighborhood that will eventually connect through to another road, which is desperately needed and has been on the books for years. People who built their houses along that road are complaining that there's going to be increased traffic and their houses are going to look out on to that road. Again, you knew that when you built the house. Don't complain about it now.
I bought our first baby related thing last night. Found discontinued print TULA baby carriers for $105. I always wanted one with the first one, but they were so hard to get, being practically a cult item. Now that the buzz has died down, they are easier to find. (Cotton Babies for anyone else who is interested.)
You all should start a politics thread to talk about the ideas you have about he ACA repeal. I can feel my blood pressure rise just reading through the comments, I stay away from the talks on social media and would prefer not to come here and read about it too.
It's raining again. My contractor has to fix a window that wasn't sealed correctly when our house was built. Of course it's the largest window in the house and requires a significant amount of construction. I'm bummed
I can't wait to get home and spend the afternoon with Chloe, I had classes last night and didnt see her at all after work and before she went to bed.
