Well B's cold now includes a fever, so he's home from preschool today. He woke up MOTN from a bad dream and was burning up, poor kiddo. He's on the couch watching UmiZumi (yaaaay). So we'll be home today hanging out; I guess this will force me to get caught up on chores.
X is home again so I can see how his rash is healing. I think he'll be back at school next Tuesday. There are few things worse than paying for DC you aren't using.
Henry and I are finally having a quiet morning at home and I'm loving it. I am in desperate need of groceries, other than that we are having a much needed rest day.
Also, last night was the first night in like a week H actually slept through the night. I feel like when he's growing he tends to do middle of the night wake up for a week, then go back to normal (fingers crossed we are back to the normal sleep). Or maybe I'm just trying to rationalize my kids crappy sleep patterns.
C has been begging me for gymnastics classes. I keep putting her off because: 1. The closest gymnastic center is 35 minutes away 2. The classes start between 4-5pm for 1-1.5 hours. Do I suck it up and sign her up for classes knowing one day a week we would be out of the house until 6:30, or hope this is a passing phase and she doesn't resent me for crushing her Olympic dreams?
cagoldi, I can't even imagine what you pay in DC cost, and to not be actively using it...yikes.
mwhipple77, Hopefully a weekend of rest will have you back to feeling like yourself in no time!
@peachsmama, We are the same and can only watch the one 'free' episode on Nick Jr app. For some reason the app doesn't recognize our cable provider so we can't use the sign in feature. So annoying, since it's one of H's favs.
Thanks y'all. I think the latest dose of Tylenol kicked in because he's in his room digging through his box of cars.
Lilac26 I'd probably sign C up for gymnastics and let her try it. Best case scenario, she gets it out of her system and prefers tennis or wants to try something else next. Worst case...she loves it and maybe you end up being a gym-mom and on a reality show? Lol. My parents were really great about letting us try different activities (I'm sure my mom cringed her way though my brief, ugly foray into gymnastics) so that's my plan for our kids.
Enjoy your trip snoopmommymom! I think arranging for some extra help for MIL was a great idea.
mwhipple77 sorry you're still under the weather. Today is day 13 for me and other than being a bit stuffed up I'm feeling decent. I hope you're almost to the end, this thing has been brutal.
I woke DH up accidentally before 5 this morning. I was trying to get ready for my run as quietly as possible because he hasn't been feeling well. Then all of a sudden, the baby monitor pops on, except everything is white. And then I saw an eye. I started laughing before I could get out of our room. Chase had sat himself up, had both legs through the crib slats, and was trying to eat the monitor by the time I got in there.
Lilac26, is there a local Y or JCC around you? Both offer gymnastics classes in my area without having to go to a specific gymnastics center. Although I am locky where I live, there are 9 million classes and things to do in close proximity to me.
I am so excited. MH has been away since Thanksgiving. He came home the first 2 weekends in December, for Christmas (Christmas Eve to the 26th) and New Years Eve (literally for 16 hours), and hasn't been home since noon on the 1st. He comes home tomorrow night!!!
We are putting B in DC and taking S to a special day on Tuesday b/c he's been so sad and missing Daddy. sands42 and others whose husbands are away for months at a time, I don't know how you do it! Esp with the little ones missing their dads!
73jewels, There isn't. The closest classes anywhere would be in the next 'city' to us which is about 35 minutes. One of the downfalls of living in a semi-rural area. Our school district is compromised of 7 different towns, if that gives you a sense of how small-town we are
LizInFL, I know I should just suck it up and sign her up, it's just the time factor that's making me hold back.
wedding - A massive TP to that teacher. Also, Colin is similarly obsessed with Ninja Turtle underwear. He does not watch TMNT nor would he even like it, he'd think it was too scary. But he loves to wear turtles on his bottom. And so he does.
nam2013, I know, it seems excessive amount of time/gas to drive and 1+ round trip, but the Mom guilt. DH does work on the way to the gymnastic center, and best case scenario is that I could drop H off at his work and he could bring him home while I go to gym class with C. It would just mean a long day for C.
wedding, sounds like a great plan. That's too funny about his socks. I'd think the grippy part would be uncomfortable in shoes. Toddlers, man.

Oh I totally understand! Would she be willing to wait til summer, if the gym offers daytime classes maybe? At least then you wouldn't be trying to cram it in after a full day at school.
Morning! Just waiting for the dr to show up for the nebulizer treatment. H didn't cough once last night so hopefully we'll just have to do one today. Then we're going to walk into town since we haven't left the resort yet and I have an 80 minute (much needed) massage later today. It's cooler and a little cloudy today but I'm hoping it warms up since it's our last full day. Hate to admit it, but it will be nice to be back home for the weekend.
I would be upset about that too nam2013. I'm glad YH stood strong and got what J needs to have better days.
Lilac26 yes! I too wanted to do gymnastics after watching the olympics. I was about 8 at the time I think. My mom told me I was too tall for it, which was true. I was a very long legged child, but I still think about how much fun it would have been. She did send me to a gymnastics camp one summer that was fun. It was all summer long. They taught us a few basics every week and the rest of the day was arts and crafts and other things. Maybe you could find out if they do a summer camp and try that first.

Hello! I'm at work. It's a busy week since it's bridezilla sister's wedding week, but I'm trying to keep up here. Ordered Thai for lunch, highlight of my day!

I slept in today because MH took M to school and I don't have to be at work until later. I need to start cleaning today, so tomorrow on my day off I can focus on purging.
Anyone use preschool activity books for their kid? I want to get M some for the alphabet and numbers. Every time he sees me writing, he wants to write too. They don't do a whole lot of work on writing yet at his school, so I need to do that at home with him. Any suggestions would be great. I'll probably go out this weekend to be on the hunt for those types of materials for him. I already have a wipe clean book of just tracing basic things likes lines, shapes, etc. He can do those fine.
Lilac26 I would do it. I like the idea of dropping H off with your DH and making it into a date night. You and C could get dinner afterwards together, it would be a good bonding experience.
I want to sign H up for gymnastics classes but I haven't yet. They have them through the Y and since we are members it's a little cheaper for us. I think she'd love it.

We have books and I also found this site to have some great free printables as well as ideas for different activities.
ETA: Cadence's teacher said when teaching the letters, don't do them in order of the alphabet. You teach them the alphabet, but when doing individual letters you move around so they don't get in the habit of thinking a certain letter has to come next because that's the way it is in the alphabet.
Lilac26 I say sign her up. She is interested and you have the means to provide her with a great experience that she may love. Yes, the drive is far but I'd pack some snacks and have a playlist and enjoy the talking/bonding time. It's one day a week and home at 6:30pm isn't ideal but it isnt that late either.
+1 (but I drive all the time and regularly get home late with the kids)

Lilac26, You should see if they have a free trial. We got 2 weeks free (2 classes) through our gymnastics club. That way she can try it out without it costing anything other than gas to get there.
