B is still running a fever and coughing a disgusting phlegm-y cough. And crying at the drop of a hat over everything. Ugh. It's very gray/dreary here today which is not helping my mood.
My parents are coming for dinner tonight; may have to issue them haz-mat suits at the front door but I really need adult conversation!

Rough night with a puking L. I'm trying to figure out what to do today because she was supposed to be in daycare and I was going to go to lunch and my mom's for the night...
Morning! Nothing much planned here today. L comes in to our room multiple times a night. We let him snuggle for a minute but then send him back. You'd think he'd get the message but it's the same every night. By 5 am we just let him stay.

Has B seen the Dr? It sounds like C when he gets bronchiolitis.
If he gets worse I'll take him in but the fever has dropped since yesterday so I think we're on the right track. I think it's just a really crappy cold that is making the rounds at preschool.
Quiet day around here, I've got about 1001 loads of laundry to do. H was up AGAIN last night from about 12:30-4? Initially started with him have to pee, then he was up. I was hoping he'd sleep in a bit, but got up when C was getting ready for school. So far he's in a pretty good mood, but I'm just waiting for the whining and meltdowns to begin...
Then C has her first gymnastics class this afternoon! She said she was so excited her head was going to pop. I did tell her it takes lot of practice, and not to expect to be doing backflips on her first day
Hugs and caffeine to everyone with sick kiddos. Chase seems to be doing better. I gave him Tylenol instead of Motrin last night and he slept fine, so I think we'll try a full unmedicated night tonight. I remember the doctor used to recommend 10 nights of Benedryl/pain reliever when Col had a bad cold and cough, but it's been 6 nights and it seems like SO MUCH.
Tonight is my work holiday party, which I put together in the most half-assed way possible. But I get to leave early to grab DH and my MIL is watching the boys, so it'll at least be nice to have dinner with other adults instead of noisy kids with sticky hands.
Hope the sickies feel better. lilac , For some reason, Josie will let me dress her for school, but on the days she's home, it's game on!
Lucky! The only time I strongly suggest the outfit is for picture day. I remember when H was born, I was super excited to be able to dress him in whatever I wanted without a fight/meltdown.
H is beginning to have some strong opinions about his outfits, but not so much in the styling he just wants to wear shorts and tees ALL. THE. TIME. regardless of if it's -10 and/or snowing. We do a lot of layering over as a compromise.
guster - Col chooses his own clothes too. Which is a shame because it means soft pants and long-sleeved Ts with some sort of graphic EVERY single day. I finally packed away his 24M and 2T clothes last week (they've been living in a pile in his closet) and I was remembering very fondly the days when he'd let me dress him.
B still lets me dress him; I'll tell him something is 'super cool' and he's happy. At Belk the other day I showed him some tees with fish on them (kind of Guy Harvey-inspired) and he liked one and asked to 'take it home', so we bought it. I'm always surprised when something like that happens bc it's unusual for him WRT clothes.
I'm sure his lack of caring means I'm in for it as far as C and her future wardrobe is concerned!
Thanks mwhipple77 I'll look for that. B also loves to do the syringe into his mouth. Whatever, he doesn't fight meds so I'm happy. DH bought a new bottle of liquid Tylenol yesterday that came with a cup instead, and B was decidedly underwhelmed.
Morning! There is a cool new thing opening at the zoo today so we are going to check that our in a couple hours. I'm hoping to get all H's energy out while we are there. Oh and our internet isn't working this morning so no Netflix for us
H lets me pick her outfits 90% of the time. When we are home all day she usually ends up in one of her dress up outfits at some point. She is very particular about her PJs for some reason though.

I never use the cup, we have 75 syringes so I just use one of those.

Cadence prefers the syringe, I prefer the cup. If it is something especially gross she can syringe it, otherwise we do the cup and she chugs some milk afterwards.

Before I left this morning I cupped Cadence's face in my hands (so that she has to look at me) and told her our morning mantra, "No hitting, no biting, no pushing, no pinching, and if you aren't getting along with someone you walk away. You need to have a good day today, be nice."
She wanted to hear the story about her last night at bedtime (the one I made up on the spot one night) and I told her I could only tell her that story when she is nice all day at school. Hopefully that motivates her.

vinolove, I gave Cadence 2 options. We could either make heart crayons or superhero masks. She chose superhero masks. So that is what I'll be doing the next two weekends, sewing felt superhero masks so that her friends can have a SUPER Valentines Day.

Cadence doesn't get to chose her clothes. She wears a uniform to school, so she doesn't complain. Sometimes she will say she wants to wear a dress instead of pants, which is fine, but it's the uniform dress. Weekends are free-for-alls because I don't lay anything out and mh picks her clothes...which kind of looks like she picked them because they are usually mismatched.

To pull from yesterday's learning letters conversation. Cadence got a book from my brother for Christmas that is called, "The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name". It is one that you personalize and it is great for learning the letters of their name. She loves that book.
wineallthetime sorry L isn't feeling well. Could you MIL watch her today?
She could. The tricky part is I don't want to bring gross germs around all my family since the wedding is tomorrow. She just had a giant puke, so I'll stay home today!

My kid needs choices for everything to avoid meltdowns (or better avoid meltdowns), so I offer both.
I thought I lost my wedding ring for about 20 minutes this morning and had a minor freak out. I always put it in a dish on the bathroom counter and it wasn't there. I found it on the kitchen island under some papers.
Re: Valentine's Day crafts-- I'm trying to decide between "We go together like cookies and milk." using a pack of prepackaged individual cookies and a crazy straw or "You make my heart glow" with a glow stick.
After having to hold a screaming B in the tub and flush his eyes with water for 15 minutes after a glow stick broke and the contents got in his eyes...I vote for cookies!!
