Congrats kristhegirl and welcome to little Maxwell. I hope you are all headed on your way home soon. So happy for you and your husband that you got to hold him again.
I am so happy they let you hold him again!! NICU life very hard, and I hope he has a short stay. Sending all the hugs. Pumping was my enemy, but I just always tried to think positive thoughts. I know that is easier said than done. As others have said, there are several of us that have experienced this and are here if you need someone to talk to.

How is Max doing this morning, kristhegirl? You guys are in my thoughts.
I don't know! He's under light therapy, just a little jaundiced, so we can only hold him every three hours for about 30 minutes. Next time we see him will be 9:00.
Last night he was doing well. They're weaning him from the oxygen and once he's down to 4.0 for pressure, we can try BFing. He was at 5.0 all day yesterday and really strong.
He's getting twitchier and fussier, and opening his eyes more. I'm pretty sure I made another carbon copy of my husband.
My MIL will focus on weird things sometimes and asked if he been circumsized yet, yesterday morning. My SIL: "I think he's been through enough so far, mom." Lol
kristhegirl Actually, they told us to listen for the doctors to start talking about cicumsizing because they don't bring that up until they are getting ready for discharge. That's probably not what your MIL was thinking about, but something to be aware of.
Ooh, that's good to know! I think she was just asking casually, it was a funny conversation, though.

Coming by to offer hair pats. To tell you that you are doing great! Remind you as difficult as it is, as much as you want him home, it's where Max needs to be right now. Remind you to take time for yourself (if you want it), your not being greedy.

Update! He's off all interventions!! He's got to keep his levels up for 24 hours, then pass a car seat challenge where he manages to keep his levels up for 90 minutes in a car seat, and then we can take him home. I'll be sleeping at the hospital tonight so I can nurse him and I'll still pump in case he needs more.
He had an episode this afternoon where his heart rate and oxygen dropped while he was sleeping, but it came back up quickly with stimulation. The nurse said they might start him on caffeine if it continues.
Possibly home tomorrow evening, possibly the next day. He's doing really really well!
