I just bought a paste that said for kids under 2 or maybe 3? And a soft kids brush. She still likes her banana one because she says the other tickles. We have her first dentist appt next month.
I was using the Tom's kids toothpaste because I was concerned about fluoride for little ones. Then someone showed me that all of the hubbub is about massive amounts in drinking water and not even close to what they would consume in toothpaste. So, when we move I'm going to grab some with fluoride.

DS actually just re-discovered his banana brush from the bottom of a toy bin. I threw it in my car, and it's seriously the toy that's been keeping him the happiest back there lately. He chewed on it for probably a good 20 minutes the other night!
At night, we just have the "training" toothpaste or whatever it is and a regular little kids brush with Elmo on it. It's so hit or miss on how well we can get his teeth from day to day. I'm planning on taking him for his first dentist visit sometime after he's two, so I figure maybe they'll have some other recommendations? Right now his pediatrician was happy with what we're doing.
Does anybody use conditioner for their LO's hair? Recommendations? Not looking for a 2-in-1, just a lightweight conditioner.
I do. I use the Johnson and Johnson no more tears conditioner. Bottle was like 4 bucks and it doesnt even look like I have made a dent into it because of how little i use every time.
How do you guys get your LO's to brush their teeth? R wont let us at all!
I just put toothpaste on the brush and let him do it. I do mine at the same time to model. He won't let me touch the toothbrush while it's in his mouth. That kid can clamp his teeth when he wants to.

I use my shampoo and my conditioner (redkin) on her hair. It's super curly and the baby shampoo was making it so dry and frizzy. We also use a conditioning curl spray to get the tangles out every morning. This might be overkill for you if your LO's hair is straight.
We use Jack N' Jill toothpaste for G. They also have toothbrushes which we used in the beginning, but recently she's a big fan of a toothbrush that came in a travel kit that my ILs got from an airline and gave to her.

I personally use Suave Kids Conditioning spray in my hair LOL so once G's hair is longer and thicker and requires it I'll just use that. Right now she doesn't need it though, I just use Aveeno shampoo and brush her hair with a Wet Brush.

Thanks for the conditioner recs! DD has very fine straight hair and I use the Johnson and Johnson when we style it in the morning but she is a wild monkey when she sleeps and it is always frizzed and crazy. I figured conditioner in the bath would help protect it a little bit more:)
Another SQ- Planning on ordering DD a PBK easter basket- last year I got her the plush bunny one but found it too small. Does anyone have any feels on the Small basket size vs. the Large basket?

I got LBB the large for his first easter and it was way too big. We now use it as a hamper for his dirty laundry.

mrsmonogrammed I would recommend the small basket for sure. The large basket is large enough for a toddler to sit in. The small was plenty big enough for us last year.

Right now L will let us do pretty much anything (specifically hair, teeth, nails) if she gets to watch the Wiggles at the same time, lol.
Also H has always had the special touch with teaching them teeth brushing though, I don't know what it is about him different than me but he always have better luck with both of them. They are both good enough now that they occasionally let me in their special teeth brushing club but it's pretty cute that he's the one that taught both of them.
For some reason, V loves brushing his teeth. Sometimes on the weekends, we will do it several times a day because he runs in the bathroom and asks for it. I'll take it, because pretty much every other routine with him is incredibly difficult.
I swear our kids are on the same wavelength. If I didnt see your name Id think I wrote this post lol

Does anyone else just let them brush with water only? Our ped said its mostly for practice right now and there really wasnt a need for using paste just yet since its mostly going to end up dribbled out or swallowed.

Our ped pushes fluoride toothpaste at all of his visits. AAP recommends it after first tooth eruption.

I do fluoride toothpaste every other morning. The rest of the time it's just water. She lives brushing so much.

I would do just water, but he demands toothpaste because everyone else is using it.

You might try letting HER brush YOUR teeth.. like a fun back and forth game. Anything to make it light and not forced.
Basically trick her into thinking that she wants to do it mwuahahha
We're still here, too. M will have a great 'ol time holding my toothbrush and brush my teeth, will hold his toothbrush while I rub water on his teeth with my finger, and let me brush his hand with his toothbrush, but will not put it in his mouth or let me try. Not sure how to get to the next step, so I just try the same thing twice a day.
So when do they out grow "stranger danger"? Every time we bring her some place new or around people she doesn't regularly see she has a melt down. Part of me wonders if we don't take her around people enough? Or will she just outgrow this? I try to prep her in the car by telling her where we are going and who we are going to see and how much fun we are going to have. But when we get there she screams and clings to me for a good long while.
I don't have advice but we're here as well. We've noticed improvement over the past few months in decreasing how long the crying lasts, but I can't credit it to something we are doing differently, aside from maturation.
holliberry28, S was like that for the longest time. Then I started having her say "AHHHHH" and other silly noises and while she was laughing, I would sneak the brush in and say, "uh oh! Mommy got you!" and it turned into a game. Now she'll let me brush no problem.
periwinkledaydreams, we do water only a few times a day on the weekends because she's obsessed now. She'll go to the bathroom and climb on the stool and say "Brush!"
