I went to different camps for a week or two at a time each summer. But 6 weeks away from my kid- no. They have college and the rest of their lives to be away from me.
6 weeks is a long time. I don't think I could do that. But then again, maybe I could...especially if my kid is in a really difficult phase of life (like....teenager, haha).
I normally did one week of camp each summer, I'll definitely have my kids doing SOMETHING.
Agree on the super high-end luxury vehicles. I mean, you do you, but I think it's dumb.

I can't stand when little girls are called "princess". If they are legitimately dressing up as a princess, then okay. But calling them that in everyday life? I loathe it. Now that I have a daughter, I am even more passionate about this.
***Disclaimer: I don't care if you call your kid this. You can do whatever you want.
I'm looking at the 6 weeks away from the kids perspective. It's something I would have loved when i was a kid but i also begged to go tot boarding school every year. I was not a home body
The daily randoms threads on Parenting are boring AF. The first few pages are all about how tired they are, how many times the baby was up, and what time the kids woke up.

From about 11 on, I went to sleep away camp or some sort of summer program for 4 weeks +. I loved it. I'd love to be able to do that for my kid if that's what he wants.

I don't have a daughter but for some reason this bothers me too. On FB, someone asked a pregnant woman if she knew what she was having. Pregnant lady responded "another princess!" Gag. Eye roll. Repeat.

It bothered me before DD too - it's now way worse. I donated anything gifted to me that said princess on it. DH sometimes calls her "my princess" and I give him a look. But also for whatever reason him saying MY princess doesn't grate me as much...it's weird.

JEALOUS!!!!
Sleep away camp was not a thing in the UK so camp fees plus airfare made it impossible to do. And we did 3 weeks every summer in FL as a family vacation
C refers to herself as a pretty princess when she is wearing a dress. We didn't teach her it but I think it's adorable she feels so good about herself in a dress. I do call her Mommys Angel, she likes that too.

It was a great experience for me. It forced me to get out of my shell and make new friends and I realized there was more to life than my immediate town. I'm still very good friends with some of the friends I made at one of the programs I went to in high school. If that's what my kid wants to do and we can afford it, I'm all for it. If he'd rather stay locally, that's fine too.

My MIL started the "our princess" shit the moment we found out Clara was a girl. Then on one ultrasound picture she was all "look you can see her tiara." Bitch no. Stop. Also? What is this "our" shit.

NO1CURRRRRRR
But do you read it everyday?
No, because of the above. I do read the UO and FFFC threads if I have time. And I keep up to date on the Blinds thread.
Oh hey. I thought I would be the only one one this bench.
Nope, I agree. DS got tons of hand-me-downs. I don't really pay attention to the cutesy sayings. They were free and he'll either ruin them or outgrow them in 2 seconds so who cares...

Same with Peyton. She held up a wash cloth the other day like she had a frilly dress on and said "Look, I'm a princess!"
To her it is a pretty outfit.
My dad has always called her a princess, but it has never bothered me. I see it the same as boys being called champ or sport. Just a term of affection and does not mean anything more.

Nope. +2 to this
It was cold today and she wore a sweatshirt but I put a t shirt on underneath. It was her Elsa and Anna shirt and right away she said "Oh Elsa! Anna! I like this shirt!"
Kids love that shit. Don't take away that simple pleasure.
I love massages, but please don't talk to me while doing it.
I was upset last time I got a pedicure and the nail tech spoke English perfectly. We talked the whole time about culture and languages since I teach Spanish. I just want to relax, quietly...
