Thank you everyone for your advice about BF and pumping. I am going to keep trying to BF before formula and DH and I are going to reassess on Tuesday since I don't want to give up quite yet. He wouldn't take the breast this morning and when I pumped, I got a measly amount from the left and just about nothing from the right. My friend made lactation cookies for me and supplements that LC recommended so we are going to try those to get my supply up.

Good luck with pumping and bfing. We were combo feeding DD1 from the start and I was making next to no milk then. Lactation cookies helped a little and were a good snack. Eventually with persistence we were able to slowly work up from almost exclusively formula fed to about 80% pump/bf (over the course of a year). It was tough, but something I wanted to try. My goal at first was to do one month. I was sure we wouldn't be successful, but when we actually made it that far, we decided to try for three months, then six, then nine. I decided to call it quits only after I got really sick for a week and she bit me with her new teeth. I'm proud of the accomplishment, but was not under extreme stress while attempting it, either. Long story short, good luck with your feeding journey and whatever happens you still know you're a good mother doing what's best for you and your baby.
