Crisis averted. They're using a new system to track vacation and didn't tell him.
cosmicav, I need to thank you for mentioning the sitz bath. My stitched area feels fine, but my abrasions are so so painful. I dread peeing these days.
I have abrasions too! They are the WORST!! I have to lean slightly to my right side with my ass in the air so that my pee touches it as minimally as possible. I seriously had to do some labor breathing to get through my first few days at home. :[ I am glad the sitz bath helped!

The nurse just called me to see how things are going, and when I mentioned the abrasions, she said "oh yes. Those are painful. They should feel better in a week or two."

crazycatlady6 glad you had a good night and the BFing is getting better!
nomnom I'm so sorry about your SS. DHs brother is a recovering heroin addict and it wreaked havoc on us all.
littleredfish I am so sorry. DH is in the national guard, which I know is not the same as full time, but having been through two year long deployments solo I can't imagine doing it with kids. He turned down one shorter (a few weeks) training trip overseas that's next month because it was too close to Z's original due date. He's now scheduled to do one in June. That's only a few weeks and I can't even fathom it. I know I hate to tell him no when it comes to deployments and such because I get that he's trained his guys and he's a leader so the last thing he'd want to do is send his soldiers somewhere without going himself, but you do have to take care of your family too. You have my deepest respect and sympathy.
I just brought P to her one month pedi visit. She is 8lbs 12oz, she seems so big!
I also did my first workout today. I found an online 6week post partum workout with 6/week workouts that are quick and you can do at home. I did the first one this morning and I am already sore. It kicked my ass.

I'M NOT PREGNANT ANYMORE!!
Long story short, a ridiculous start and stop labor pattern with lots of tears on my part made an unexpected turn when baby's heart tones started deceling at home. Our home birth hit the road for the hospital. We monitored for an hour and then they decided to admit because his tones were going down with every ctx. We got a room and and amazing team of super supportive staff. Midwife stayed too. Labor decided to get real and I went from a 4.5 to time of birth in 3 hours. 3 pushes.
Even though we transferred, I got the birth I wanted. No interventions, not even an IV or saline lock. I labored in the tub and oops... Broke a few rules when I couldn't get out in time and delivered in the water. E was born with his cord around his neck and that was what was giving the decels.
Hospital food is nasty and their portions are super tiny.
Ha! Truer words were never spoken.
Our hospital gives pregnant women double plates. I loved it for breakfast and lunch because I was required to order a complete meal with dessert, and with the double plate requirement, I'd order snack-like food to save for later, like two salads or two fruits. And extra drinks. Dinner food sucked, but at least I got two drinks and two desserts. Cookies and ice cream for the win!

We just had our last NICU follow-up visit! C weighed in at 9 lbs 4.5 oz and is doing great. He's also still rolling over every time we do tummy time. I honestly think his head is huge and the weight helps him roll. I mean, his head was 13" at birth. That's a big head!
Yesterday went well for the most part. It was nice to see family, and the food was delicious. But my dad was kind of a dick, BIL and SIL#1 canceled at the last minute, and SIL#3 was a no show. MH also left me with alone a lot, which was stressful with a dozen visitors and the kids. But he let me sleep in until 8 today so he made up for it LOL
And J... God, she pushing my buttons lately with the attitude, not listening, and she had a #2 accident yesterday because she was too busy playing. Ugh... Today she better do well at school or I'll be super annoyed.

nomnom I'm so sorry your family is dealing with that. That is so, so tough. I hope things improve and your stepson gets and stays clean.
littleredfish I don't know how you military families do it. It's so tough for all involved. Thank you for your family's service.
Add me to the list of the wimpy mamas that have only had a very short amount of time solo parenting two. I'm very scared for doing it for any real length of time.

wildflower810 YAY BABY!! I was stalking yesterday after 12 hours of no update. No more inside Feb 17 babies!
dancerspose, that's exactly it. He leads most of the pre-deployment training, he even agreed to go back early to make sure everybody was green to go and he's training more when he gets there. It's hard to say no when he's gone from being trained to getting up in the ranks where he's been able to combine teaching with his military career since he wanted to be a teacher pre military, so it's like his dream job basically to do what he's finally able to do.
@wineandcupcakes it is something he wants to do. It was a big part of him signing, having the chance to experience the world this way. We just transferred to our current base this past fall. Our last posting had the fewest deployments, this one has one of the highest. Apparently the guy he replaced was almost never here, but he was a single guy. We don't pick our postings though, they are assigned and it's very hard to skirt around them. Same with deployments it's not really a pick and choose thing and it goes on his file if he turns one down. It's not described as a negative thing but it's basically seen that way. That's another reason I've never said no for him because I know his career is very important for him. He was pretty excited when we got this posting because it's known for more deployments and I'd hate to dissuade him from something he's been looking forward to.
Thanks for the love ladies. It's just a whirlwind to find that out first thing. I put on my smile face for him and grabbed my phone to unleash the panic. At least I have some time to process the 2nd one.

Oops, I posted before reading the entire thread. Congrats wildflower810!!! Glad you ended up happy with your experience even though you couldn't stay at home.
The final F17 baby !!!!!!! Congrats wildflower810!!! I'm glad you still got the experience you wanted, even though it wasn't a home birth. Hope you have a great recovery!
I got a ton of fruits/veggies/healthy snacks at the grocery store today. I do really well at meal time making a healthy meal but the snacks are going to kill any chance of getting back in shape if I keep it up. Now to just portion them so I can grab before a nursing sesh instead of the oatmeal cream pies in the pantry...

Ours has all "healthy" portions, which is extremely disappointing. But we could order whenever we wanted, so I could have ordered second breakfast and second lunch. But really, I didn't need to eat disappointing food 5 times a day

pivot snacks are so hard!!! I will always choose a cookie over fruit. So we don't buy that crap anymore. And I'm eating so much healthier around the clock! I think it's totally paying off. It helps that DH eats super healthy and my toddler actually loves fruit! So we have been doing awesome the last few months.
@wineandcupcakes I just keep reminding myself that the bad snacking was what held me back last time. I'm trying not to be so naive this time around thinking the weight will just fall off because it doesn't for me.
