Are you holding up your breast with the hand not holding the baby; is that the problem? When I was nursing I had this problem too. My LC suggested putting a rolled up towel or swaddle blanket or something similar under the breast to keep it propped in the right position. Sorry for the constant feeding! Are you working with an LC? If nothing else seeing one may be able to get you some prescription nipple cream, which saved me!
Yes. One hand is holding the baby and the other one is holding my breast. I think I need to call the lactation Warm Line again. I saw an LC once when S was 6 days old, and it was very helpful. But I have a whole new set of questions now.
I would definitely try to see one if you can. That way you can get tips on hold and stuff in person. Are you using a pillow too? If your using a boppy you may want to consider my brest friend. It really helps with support too.

This. I never had a pillow for my girls but I got a free one before DS was born and love it. It does a lot of the holding since he's so damn heavy, and I roll up a receiving blanket to hold up the boob or he gets suffocated LOL. That way I can at least hop on TCF while he sucks the life out of me. Otherwise I lay in bed or on the couch beside him to nurse him. I'm super lazy like that.
We had a major feeding day. He would not stop eating and screaming. Now he's sleeping. I suspect he passed out from exhaustion. Growth spurt is my hope. This does end. I look at my girls and I know it does, but the minutes still seem to barely tick by as he screams bloody murder at me.
(((Hugs))) to all the mama's dealing with PPD/PPA.
DS has decided not to even try to take the breast for the past 2 days so I decided to exclusively pump then supplement with formula. I am still only pumping 1 ounce of milk every 3 hours after being on supplements and lactation cookies for a week now.
I'm sorry he's not cooperating. Welcome to the pumping club...
For supply have you thought about trying one of the prescription meds - domperidone is the one I think a bunch of people over on SAIF have used/are using.
I have not heard of that. I will talk about that with the pedi tomorrow.

Update to the chamomile tea for baby directly vs through mom for those who were wondering. The herbalist got back to me and said "I would suggest waiting till babe is eating solid food before you give the herbs direct. Your babe is still so new in the world and their digestive system is still so new that I prefer to suggest that everything goes through Mum's milk. If you are bottle feeding you could add herbs to the milk but I'd wait for a few months before you give the herbs directly to your babe. I hope that helps "

I'm definitely calling the OB and the pedi first thing. Idk if I have thrush or if it's something else, but my boobs really hurt and I want them to check me out.
E has some white at the back of her tongue, but it does scrape off. It could be nothing, but I'm not taking chances or a wait and see approach with her health. Best case scenario there's something just wrong with me. Worst case scenario, it is thrush and we'll need to be treated together.

I drank the tea tonight. And it hasn't helped at all. I got a 3 hour stretch and a 2 so far; I usually get a solid 4-5 before this nonsense. So much damn grunting over here. R also clusterfed all day and wouldn't sleep unless held which isn't like her. So maybe she's going through a thing. I know she's growing like crazy... but damn woman mama needs a little sleep.
loves2shop4shoes I think it's definitely a good idea to call. Your OB should take it very seriously.
notagoddess do you use a pillow that's high enough? +1 to making a little boob harness with a receiving blanket -- roll it up, put it under your boob, and tuck the ends under your bra straps at your shoulder. Although, it's hard for me to type much on my phone during feeding. I can usually scroll though. Or I can place my kindle strategically so my supporting hand can reach s finger over to "turn" a page.

Guys, the snuza was the best thing I have done for myself. I have not slept this soundly since the girls were born. Now if they could go longer stretches of sleep I would feel like a whole new person!
flyinghorses6 - I'm in the same boat, the tea has done nothing. Although, he did just take the biggest shit of his life but I'm not sure if that is correlated to the tea...

LO1 took a good hour and a half to fall asleep and then tried coming into our bed around 2. Got her back to her bed but now she is waking up super grumpy.
Twins- Needed some love for maybe 45 minutes after bedtime feeding to fall asleep. Up at 2 and not back in bed till after 3. Fussed so much DH and I each took a baby and slept in our bed to get some sleep.
