My OB called a little while ago to ask how I've been doing with my PPD. I haven't noticed much of a change with the Zoloft I was put on so they said if I'm still feeling the same or worse next week to call and we'll possibly discuss getting some counseling.

dancerspose, geek yogurt and lots of fruit (pineapple, strawberries, and a banana) and ice. I'm thinking of sneaking some greens in it tomorrow.
So allergist appointment was terrible for DS, skin tests on a two year old are awful. 60 pricks, re-confirmed his peanut allergy and found out he is pretty much allergic to every tree, grass, and weed that lives around us. He is a good candidate for immunotherapy but a touch on the young side for it. Anyone have any experience with immunotherapy? We think we're going to do it to hopefully reduce his chances of developing asthma (he's at an 85% chance right now).
So not sure if I mentioned that our daycare plan of having a family member watch E fell through. So we looked into hiring a nanny... which would be like $750 a week. I don't want to put E in daycare, but $750 per week post tax... is a lot to pay a nanny...
Does anyone else have a nanny? How did you come up with their salary? Does 3k a month sound right to you?
Woo-Hoo!!! Boxed up all the maternity clothes from SIL and mine. Temp stored in my guest room till SIL visits again so she can take to her neighbor that is prego.

I took S to the new moms group at the hospital for the first time today. I learned that apparently you don't need to change your baby's diaper at night?! Can someone confirm? It never crossed my mind to not change S's diaper, but it would make night feedings a lot easier.

We must be going through a growth spurt. (6 weeks) Short little cat naps and tons of nursing; after yesterday where she napped long chunks almost all day. I did manage to vacuum the house, pick up the toys, and got my 25 minute circuit in. Dinner is also prepped but need to get LO off the boob to cook it. Hopefully by dinner time she's tuckered herself out.
musicallyinclined poor little guy. That sounds so awful. No experience with immunotherapy or allergies. But sending good vibes to you.

notagoddess - If C only has a wet diaper, we often don't change him. Unless of course it's a really "puffy" one and bothering him. We load him up with Destin before bed. Poop we always change of course.

Dumb question: How do you know what's in there? S poops after most but not all feedings, but it can take an hour. I usually can't smell the poop through her swaddle blanket.

That's about the rate here, $15 - $20/hour. But that's also assuming an 8 hour day.

We don't unless it's dirty or super wet too avoid extra laundry. I'm also hopeful that it'll make it easier to get those longer sleep stretches in the future. I have no actual evidence to support this, though.
Obviously, if a rash situation developed, more frequent changes would be necessary.

notagoddess, we don't change unless he's uncomfortable. We changed DS1 pretty frequently as a newborn but we stopped around 2 months to encourage him to sleep longer. With DS2 we change if we hear him poop or smell it. With as much as he farts there's almost always a little something in there. So far he's been fine no rash or anything like that.
We use the diaper change as a way to wake up the sleeping twin so I can tandem feed both. We do sometimes skip if both are crying and we don't smell any poop. (We've missed a couple and feel bad after but can't be right all the time.).
notagoddess night changing was a very heated topic on my other bmb. We do change right now, but it isn't entirely necessary (IMO). I would never wake a sleeping baby for a change, that's for damn sure. Now that her night diapers are only pee, we will probably discontinue changing. Unless we start having trouble with leaks.

notagoddess, we will discontinue nighttime diaper changing once C stops pooping at night. It's definitely starting to wake her up more at night, so I'm hoping the nighttime pooping ends soon!
Yeah... Nerves are weird. I had numbness after another surgery and it took almost a year to get feeling. So it didn't shock me. OB said if it spreads, we'll talk sooner.
I have a section surrounding my incision that is numb. My OB said we'd talk and update at my annual in August.

Just got home from DS's group class. 5 weeks old, 12lbs 7oz and he wore a 6 month shirt with 9 month overalls. We're slowly getting little reactive smiles. I love it.
The speaker today was a pelvic floor physiotherapist. I'm totally going to see one this time around. She said 90% of women do kegals improperly and are often given the wrong exercises by well meaning professionals so she often does a lot of corrections having to teach people the right way to exercise the proper muscles. 3 kids later and I'm falling apart. No more time for wrong exercises. I hope DH's insurance helps cover some of it because it's not cheap, but I feel either way it will be worth it and necessary for me.

littleredfish, I'm all signed up for a 6 week course of pelvic floor rehabilitation therapy. It doesn't start until mid-April, but I've heard very good things about it. It's covered the same way as regular physical therapy. I signed up after peeing myself trying to climb out of the tub a week ago. I can't imagine going forward like this. I've never even done Kegels because I didn't have any leaks during pregnancy. It's the thing I'm most upset about regarding my postpartum body.

notagoddess LT for commiseration. I'm only having light leakage now, so it might be gone by 8 weeks, but I can't sleep on my sides, my hips hurt and my legs fall asleep, I have a huge diastis gap. Like when I lay down and lift my head as though I was going to do a crunch I have a huge bulge the width from my middle finger tip to 2/3 of the way across my palm. I'm actually worried she'll say I need corrective surgery for that since it's considered cosmetic and not covered. My left hip and knee click when I walk so I have constant dull pain in my left leg. And when she was mentioning all of the exercises you should never do I've done those as recommended my doctors and trainers, tried supplements for leakage that she says don't help the source of the problem obviously, so I'm hoping this is my best option to get real help for long term recovery.
If she's up to eat I will change her first. P doesn't poop at night thankfully. Past two nights she has done 8 hour stretches so I'm hoping it won't be an issue anymore...
There is a pelvic floor workshop at a local yoga studio this weekend that I might sign up for. I tried to do jumping jacks this morning and it wasn't good.

This was last week under 2 sleeping kiddos. We had our 6 week appointment with our midwife today. DS2 is 12 lbs 4 ounces. He's gained 3.5 pounds since birth. I also got a pap smear. I don't think I've had one since before DD1 was conceived. I've had a really fussy baby lately and have stopped eating gassy vegetable plus caffeine and chocolate. It seems to be helping.
Anybody dealing with babies that cry in the car? We have a 20-25 minute drive to town and the crying is wearing on me.

All the babies are so cute!!!
notagoddess - I've never heard of not changing a diaper during the night. I do so before every feed and will continue to do so.
You learn something new every day. Mind blown at the thought of not checking a diaper during nighttime feedings but I am biased since DS has a wet diaper 90% of the time before feedings.

linewifekat - Try covering the carseat with a swaddle so LO can't see the motion of the car. It may help.
MH forced me to go to the gym for some "me" time. It was great! I was only able to do about half my regular routine, but still - sweat is sweat. Back at it tomorrow!

I had a good day! On Wednesdays I take DD to school because she has an extra class (other days she rides the school bus). After I dropped her off I went to Starbucks, to the grocery store and to visit a friend, all with baby. He did great! He's such a chill little guy.
My friend's baby is two weeks old and she's having a lot of trouble breastfeeding. She's had a breast reduction and is not producing enough. So she's supplementing with an SNS but it's really taking a toll on her. She seems to not be in a very good place. I wish I could do something to help.
