I finally ordered our IKEA wardrobes, so we clean out the closet and start prepping the baby nook. I'm terrified of what is going to arrive at the house. I've heard horror stories of missing hardware, pieces, missing shipments...

I've never ordered from IKEA but gone and picked up plenty of times and everything has always been there, you'll do great, just take your time, I put crap on backwards on our chairs on every stinking one and had to take apart again

Have you ever ordered furniture online? The closest IKEA to us is in Canada so I didn't have much choice.
No I haven't. I live right behind Ikea so I just go there. But trust me if you follow the pictures and organize yourself you'll be fine. Make sure when you open up the screws and such you open it up on a flat surface and separate then in groups. Then you'll be able to find everything faster and easier. There's also online help if you need it but I'm sure you won't.
I haven't bought anything for this baby. I need a be bouncer and that's it. We were tan been the first time too. I don't want one of the big bouncers though. I want one of the basic chair ones and can't find one in stores.
Nothing is basic anymore. I went to Macro Baby and they had the most complicated things. DH of course (techy geek nerd) thought they were all must haves. He even wanted a formula kuerig looking machine; I breastfeed. -_-
Consignment shop are great with basic things. Try there.
I literally lol'd at formula keurig. We had one for DS but he used it so long he bent the frame. When he was little I carried him a lot in it. He'd fall asleep and I could carry it downstairs to exercise or outside to work in the garden. The new ones seem to big to do that with. I've been checking resale but the fabric is disgusting or the frames are bent. I'm going to check amazon.
About when my son was 1 I was still living at home, his dad and I were on a break and my friends bought me a ton if sex toys etc as a " go out and get them" pep talk. My 4 yr old brother found them and was playing " cuttlefish" family with them. Mortified! Luckily they'd were all brand new in a basket under my bed.

This reminds me of the Sex and the City episode where Miranda leaves Brady with Samantha and she uses her vibrator to fix the broken bouncer.. Lmbo classic move!

You give me hope, but this will be me in a few weeks...
Oh also...I have a problem. I can't stop buying baby clothes. I am a FTM & I'll be having 3 showers so I know I'll be getting way too many outfits but I just can't help myself. I love everything.
I think we bought DD all of one outfit her first YEAR (minus all the cutesy "holiday" ones like valentines and st patty's and 4th of July, we didn't even have to get her an Easter dress)!! You will have wayyyyyyyy too many clothes!! (I had three showers as well, one at work and no clothes from that one) Boxes arrived for ages from out of town family and friends stuffed with clothes!!

I think my daughter woke up sick today. She's so cranky, tired, feels a little warm, and has been off and on crying all morning. She's nursing now and fighting to stay awake. Her latch is freaking terrible right now, but I don't want to make her get all upset again by trying to get her to relatch.

I'm hoping with Target closing here to be able to get some clothes for good prices. I hear they're shipping their bigger items back to the states or selling to competitors so I'm not having any delusions about any fabulous deals but hopefully I can snag some cute boy clothes on the cheap!
I didn't sleep last night because I spent the night thinking about my God awful boss and the meeting invite she decided to send me at 4pm yesterday for first thing in the am with my director tuesday because she *wrongfully* assumed I wouldn't be coming back to work after this baby and promised my job to someone else, now she's a real snatch. Ugh.
WTF? She just assumed you wouldn't be back? Who does that??

Hmmm. Doesn't sound legal at all and I am shocked they actually admitted to their line of thinking. Terrible move, HR.

seriously, unless you told her that it is completely unprofessional for her to do that, how can you promise a job to someone else! What do you think the director will say?

The guys go to a special kid friendly movie showing once a month. Next month is the Spongebob movie. I've never watched SpongeBob, but I've heard things. Would you take a 3 year old, as of next month, to see this movie? I think he mostly watches the other kids running around the theater, but he also loves to mimic what he sees on TV. Thoughts?

Nope. Nope. Nope. Sorry, I really despise that idiot sponge. I have no issues with TV for kids, my kid watches and learns a lot. But spongebob will forever be a big NO in this house.

Not that I'm trying to drill education early, but I've found nothing impressive about the way the characters talk and what they do. DD will be 3 on Monday and mocks what they are saying and doing from things she watches. Spongebob is a no here.
I'm stressing about my football picks! There are 5 of us still in the running (I'm the only girl) and I'm torn between picking a team I want to win and being strategic. Out of the 5 of us there's one guy thats 8/8, the rest of us are 7/8. I've done really well this year and already won an 80 piece ratchet set - yes, girls, be jealous!
@lalalady54 sorry about that whole situation at work...I don't know how I'd handle that! I hope they get all that crap sorted for you...and if you do move on to a different position I hope you get a much better boss. I was always lucky with my bosses being pretty awesome

no, but I'm a self proclaimed prude with what we let our kids watch
t1green I used to be hooked on Animal Planet! I'd watch the animal cops ones though and get super depressed at all the horrible people out there who treat dogs like garbage. I also loved the Dogs 101 and It's Me or the Dog...or something like that. This dog trainer would come help families with their out of control dogs. Usually very entertaining

Thanks, ladies. I had a feeling it wouldn't be appropriate. They've always shown movies appropriate for the little ones, so I'm surprised by next month's selection.

Nope. It's not what they say really but how they say it. If any cartoon can be snarky and teach a bite when talking that one is it.

DD decided to give herself two full sleeve sharpie tattoos. I guess she was trying to look like her daddy... Also, I have no idea where the sharpie came from

oh man, kids are so sneaky! I hope you find a way to get it off, maybe try some diluted hydrogen peroxide

Try rubbing alcohol or baby oil to get it off. How do kids always find the sharpies?
