For me, not till next year again. It was 98 effing defeees yesterday. We are well into summer weather already. 😡 The only relief this time of year are the evenings, nights and early mornings are still cool.

I forget if you've talked about this before, but are you or your H from AZ? Or did you end up moving there for school/work? Do you plan on staying once your H finishes his degree?

Moving the playroom convo over here....
scorpioscuba - having them share a room is the ultimate goal. I think I have to wait until dd2 sleeps a little better, and can be reasoned with at bedtime more. We are going to put them in their own rooms to start, and then hopefully get dd2 moved into dd1's room by the end of the year.
The house also has a huge detached garage that we want to insulate and drywall. I also want to put in a sliding barn door on the side that opens to the backyard. We would turn that into an art/playroom, but that probably won't happen until next year.
I have to keep reminding myself that the house isn't THAT small. It's smaller than we have now, but in a much better location. It's also 300 sq feet bigger than some other places we looked at, so it could be worse!
silverspoon - nice work picking up toys twice a day. After bedtime is the only time all the toys are ever all put away around here. Sometimes I have to pick them up during the day because things are getting too crazy, but it always feels like a losing battle. They are pulling new toys out as fast as I put the other ones away.
Also, I swear most of the toys don't even get played with. Dd1 usually plays with the same few toys all the time. Dd2's mission in life is to play with the toys that dd1 is playing with. The other 5,000 toys get picked up, carried to another room, and dropped on the floor... and that's it. I'm so burnt out on picking up toys.

NellieOleson He still doesn't even really play with toys. He mostly likes to take things out of the cubbies or bins. The one bin is full of cars and trucks. He likes to take every single one out and then he moves along.
If there were 2 of him I doubt I could keep up. It's only because I've got 1:1 coverage right now.
I posted about our play area in the other thread. I have to start keeping up with it better. It's just so frustrating, as soon as I get it cleaned up, S is pulling everything out again.

I fully believe kids will play more with their toys if they have fewer. This is why the toys in my room that I need to go through will mostly not be going back in the playroom. In the last 24 hours they have played with things so much more than normal. If there are too many toys it becomes overwhelming for them I think.
Also, once in awhile my H is a genius. He suggested taking the legs off of the train table and storing it under DS's bed. Totally worked and it is out of the way.

We were both born elsewhere but have lived in AZ most of our lives. He doesn't mind the heat. I hate it. I'm open to moving when the kids get a bit older and I don't need so much help from my mom and sister. In fact I love the PNW but $$$$. 😳

I need new bras. I just tried to wear one of my real bras (Wacoal lightly padded, underwire) and made it about 10 minutes before I had to change. I'm ruined for that style after wearing comfy nursing bras for so long. BUT I'm ready to retire these nursing bras and get something a little more attractive. (Still nursing, but don't need the clip top cups anymore.)
Any recommendations? Anyone have any cute, comfy bras you love?

I got rid of a ton of S's toys a couple of months ago. I kept the ones he plays with the most, but he usually ignores the stuff in the play room in favor of his Lego in the dining room.

I ended up with a tshirt bra from VS's Pink line. Kind of tweenish sounding, but it's simple and cheap and didn't have all the extra crap their other bras had. And yeah, it's smaller than was historically accurate.

You guys, you know how I said DD2 was puking on Saturday? Well, she was fine on Sunday, so I figured we'd just keep her home from preschool today and she'd be good to go. Ha. This morning she said she didn't feel good again, and about 7:30 she puked again. And at 7:45. And 8:00. And 8:15. And... you get the picture - 5 hours long she puked every 15 minutes. Finally we took her to the hospital because I was afraid she was getting too dehydrated and she was getting so that she couldn't even sit up herself to throw up. They gave her some miracle medicine that made her stop pretty much instantly, watched her for a while, made sure she could drink, and sent us home. But at bedtime she wasn't feeling well again and threw up *again*. If she throws up again soon, I think I'm going to end up spending the night in the hospital with her

crimsonandclover I am so sorry! That sounds terrible. I'm convinced having multiple kids just means you never work a full week again. Do they ever stay healthy??
Post by crimsonandclover on Apr 24, 2017 13:50:04 GMT -5
dizzycooks, amazingly, there have been quite a few weeks where all of them have been healthy. But once one of them gets something, the rest go down like dominoes, and it takes a long time before everyone's healthy again. Last year my BIL/SIL, who only have 2 kids, had 3 whole months where there were only 2 weeks when neither kid was sick. Chicken pox, flu, HFM, it just went on and on. So I tell myself that adding the third kid wasn't what's going to make or break things! Plus my job is so flexible that I can usually work around illnesses (this one isn't posing a problem yet, either). It's the freelance work that's hard to make up. I have deadlines with my clients and I need to meet them.

crimsonandclover Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry. That sounds awful. Hopefully they can send you home with a prescription or something for the anti-nausea stuff.
Post by crimsonandclover on Apr 24, 2017 14:03:56 GMT -5
They did give us a prescription, but 1) no pharmacy had it in stock that was still open, and 2) she can only get a max of 1 every 12 hours, so she couldn't have it until 1am anyway. It's actually even off-label use. It's been approved for children dealing with nausea after chemo, and the university clinic uses it for extrem(ish) cases of vomiting like she had.
Oh no crimsonandclover you have all of my sympathy. I don't handle puking well. I hope she stops soon.
My sister and BIL talked to S's class about their jobs today. His teacher invited me to stay, but I should've come straight home. M was way too excited to be there and would not sit still. At some point before I leave to pick S up, I have to do a load of laundry and dishes. And I also have to figure out when to get groceries.
Our landscaping design is finally (almost) complete! My friend is giving us the plants at wholesale prices ( which is pretty much 50% off retail if we bought at a garden store). I'm super pumped!! And now also really into plants hahah

Thankfully she did not throw up again last night. I spent the night on a mattress in her room, which I think helped settle her down. This morning she had a low-grade fever (101) and was feeling really miserable, but she has perked up throughout the morning and eaten some (and drank!). Now she's napping. Whew. Plus the pharmacy has ordered the anti-nausea miracle med and we should be able to pick it up this noon, so if things were to start up again (or if DD1 starts with the constant vomiting), then we don't necessarily have to go to the hospital.
I feel like there's a time bomb ticking to see who it's going to hit next, though...
