Absolutely rear facing. LO isn't 20 pounds so we can't forward face yet anyway, but even if she were, we won't FF until at least age 2. Hopefully longer.

LO is still in the infant seat! LO is pretty small (25% height/50% weight (or vice versa)) and quite frankly, sometimes it's easier to have her in that while also dealing with DD1! Though we do plan on getting her a convertible seat ASAP and RF as long as she fits in the limits. With DD1, we flipped her right after 2 because she was very close to hitting the height limit.
As a reminder, there is usually a weight AND HEIGHT limit for RF! I'm always irked when people just mention the weight part like they are totally disregarding that there is a height component, too. DD1 is very tall for her age. She might still meet the RF *weight* limit for the seat, but she almost reached the height limit shortly after her 2nd birthday and we turned her then. I'm all for ERF is that's what you want to do, but know what your seat is designed to handle.
I've got a problem now that our secondary car seat for DD1 (used ~15% of the time in DH's car and when we travel) and she is about to meet the weight limit (40lbs - cosco scenera) and I don't know what to do....we want something small and easy to travel with (since we take in on planes) and it looks like maybe technically she could do a booster after 40 lbs (?) but at 3.5 she seems to young for just a booster. So I need to research another small carseat with a higher weight limit. :/ If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
We're rear facing. I want us to rear face as long as possible. But I'm not willing to say at least 3 or at least 4. Who knows how much trouble she'll give me about rear facing by then. I will definitely say 2 though.
@nattybumpo my travel seat is 40 lbs too. No ideas! We will be rf until 3/4. We bought a Clek foonf on purpose for that reason. It sits higher so she can see out and she loves it. She can rf to 50 lbs and 43 inches.

I plan to RF until we can't anymore. I've seen enough of the videos and read enough articles showing comparisons of kids in crashes rf vs ff to convince me that rf is where she is going to stay for a while!
DH and I were talking about this on the ride home last night. She has always been a very good car rider, but lately as she gets taller she seems to be getting more and more uncomfortable in the seat. She has always been one to hate confined spaces. we could never swaddle her, even as a newborn. We were wondering if it is because she is so scrunched up rear facing (cant extend her legs)? She has even recently started to not like me to rock her to sleep because she is too big to fit comfortably in my lap and would prefer to sit on my lap while reading her bedtime stories then stretch out in her crib to go to sleep.

I would get a comfier seat for her to RF then... I don't think it's the leg room.
James at about 1 year old started fighting diaper changes because he was taller than the changing table. On the floor he had no problems. On the bed no problem- changing table? All the problems. I would suspect your LO is in a poorly padded seat and she doesn't want to be rocked because she is not supported enough for her liking.
@notyourmom, the new seat I got for her is supposed to be a fairly well cushioned, she has been in this seat for a few longer trips before with no problems. it just seems that the taller she gets the less she likes to be in the seat. Of course it ay just be the age. I would really like to keep her RF for a few more months, but I cant take the screaming!!
