SIL who is in labor is gluten intolerant and doesn't eat red meat. What dish(es) can I make for the new parents?
Enchilada casserole-I layer it like lasagna rather than roll them up (you may want to specifically buy Gf corn tortillas because not all corn tortillas are Gf); I'm really struggling to think of anything else because we gluten around here. Oh, the spaghetti squash I mentioned yesterday, done with Spinach artichoke filling (again, idk if you can get GF cream sauce).

I'm just laughing to myself over here remembering after M was born... The gal I used to nanny for came over to meet him and brought us dinner.
She came in and said "I was going to make a casserole of some sort, but then I remembered after I had each of my kids. I didn't want a damn casserole. I wanted Chipotle! So... I brought you Chipotle."

We've been chillin' today. Going to dinner later with friends. My child is obsessed with hollering, smacking his own legs, and doing raspberries. He also tried to eat a stair today. Multiple times.
Hey ladiessss. I'm here. I know tomatoes might be thrown but we decided to let DS cry (with periodic comforting) for the first time last night. The reason I ultimately did it is a few of my friends with 2-3 year olds were telling me how they wished they tried it when their LOs were babies. They have toddlers who have never slept through the night and they regret not trying CIO during the 6-8 month period. I also have a friend who paid a night nurse to sleep train her baby and I used some of her techniques.
Anyways. It ended up being about an hour of crying with us going in every 10 min. until he fell asleep. It was so, so, so heartbreaking. DH and I both feel like crap about it. We committed to trying this for a few days though. So there's that. Sigh.
I hope I'll come out the other end of this with an unpsychologically damaged, well rested baby. I'll keep you posted. DS woke up this morning in a good mood so that made me feel a bit better.
In other news, I just bought 6 bottles of great wine. I'm going to uncork one of those suckers and try to stay calm.
Yes, please keep up posted on how it goes! My kid has been so restless lately. DH keeps asking when we're supposed to let her cry and I just haven't been able to do it. But I'm about to loose it if I don't get some sleep soon. I haven't had any caffeine since Monday because of my stupid tooth, plus my meds are making me drowsy. I've reached a level of tired that I haven't seen since DD's first week home from the hospital
I hope your tooth is better soon! And you get some sleep! I could not survive without coffee right now. Dd has also been super restless. I think she's developing the ability to fight sleep really well which leads to super cranky fussy pants. No fun.

Something with chicken, rice, cheese and veggies. Sorry, that's not very specific but little SIL has celiac and I know that those are things she can eat. We had ribs, potatoes and broccoli salad with her last week so those are all OK too. They make gluten free pasta if you want to do spaghetti or something similar. Also ice cream, tortilla chips and salsa, nuts, dried fruit and that sort of thing are good for snacks.
Dd bit my nipple so hard last night it bled. Now today it hurts when she nurses on that side. I'm nowhere near ready to start weaning, but if that becomes a habit I have a feeling I'll get there real fast.
Morning ladies! I'm going to attempt to make one of those footprint flower pots that you turn their feet into a butterfly for my mom this morning. Her birthday is Monday and I think she will really like it. This is our first footprint project though so I'm not so sure about how it will turn out.
We did this for Mother's Day. I practiced a couple times on paper first to get the hang of how much paint to have on A's foot.

Snacks are actually a super good idea. That was what I always wanted. No one ever brought us anything (except my mom brought dinner once.) I would have loved a veggie tray or trail mix.
A and I went to "breakfast on the farm" this morning. It was cute, A was totally enthralled by the cows. Then A and I took a 3 hour nap it was ah-mazing! I ruined the good day by going jean shopping which is always depressing.

I her.
sweetsurprise Hope the sleep training goes well and is brief.
Jennifer18131 I second the roasted root veggies, but roast in honey!! What about a broccoli and cheddar quiche, sans crust, so basically a large frittata? Perhaps with a package of apple and chicken sausages? (the applegate ones are amazing)
My rainbow arrived 10/15/14.
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs.

I am clutching ALL the pearls over here, guise. I have a friend who is due in a month. She is HOSTING and online baby registry party for herself and made a Facebook event and posted it to her page as well as invited over 50 people. So tacky, so so so rude.

sweetsurprise you are right this is totally the time to try sleep training. It gets so much worse and harder as they get older. Our toddler has always (since birth) been a horrible sleeper. We have sleep trained so many times and then something (usually illness) happens to cause a regression and we are back to a mess again. By far the easiest time was back when he was 6 or 7 months old.
You won't scar your baby - you will know after 2-3 days if it's not happening. Hope night 2 is easier. Typically the crying time cuts by one half every night until you get to very little or none.
We just left a BBQ with a group of friends that all have toddlers, and all of them were like "Sleep training! It will change your life." They were all saying straight CIO. I'm just not quite ready for that. At the same time, I don't want it to get harder to do. Sigh.
