We are trying to wean E down to 1 MOTN feed vs 2-3 since she wakes up mostly out of habit at these times. Last night was a success! She woke up a few times needing soothing but I only fed her once.
Today is prep for the week day, so taking care of errands, grocery shopping and getting meal prep done.
Good morning! Glad the MOTN weaning is working starfisher!
We've had a pretty lazy weekend and today will be equally lazy. Early food shopping because we may get hit with a big snowstorm tonight into tomorrow. I also need to finish the editing for my book and work on some crafts for DS's party.
Morning! We are in the same spot starfisher T is waking at 3 out of habit, but he is nursing a lot at that time... I've tried stuffing him with solids, and nursing and extra time in the afternoon, but he just won't sleep through that wake up... if I try to sooth without nursing it turns into a huge ordeal so I'm just at a loss... I know he doesn't need it... but I don't know what to do from here
Glad your night weaning went well starfisher. We're still drinking two full bottles overnight so we're going to have to do something too. No idea what though.
I'm meal planning and grocery shopping today too. That's my big Sunday plan!
Wtg, starfisher! Hopefully, E will stop even waking up for soothing.
Morning, everyone! I've been mia the past couple days so playing catch up. Went to a wedding on Friday and, during the maid of honor speech, the bridesmaids and a bunch of wedding guests broke out in a choreographed dance to one direction while wearing harry masks. Thought that would make some f14ers happy
Yuck, ciaomama you reminded me that I need to go grocery shopping before the snow. When is it supposed to start? I hope we get some pretty snow instead of all this slushy ice crap we've been getting! I have an adorable impractical snow suit for lo that is waiting to be used!
Good morning! Yesterday was crazy busy between my cousin's baby shower and shopping. Nothing on the agenda today besides getting some stuff done around the house.
I'm so jealous of those of you who are getting snow. Send some of it to GA please! Oh, and just the pretty fluffy snow. No ice please.

My plan today is laundry...I hate laundry. Why am I wide awake so early? Oh yeah because G wanted snuggles and went back to sleep..did I mention I was already laying next to her I just didn't have my arms around her?
caer Sorry if you've already tried this, but have you cut down the bottle amounts little by little? Say by 1/2 ounce every few days? Just a thought.
bluedot That's definitely frustrating. Its tough too because I want to feed her if she is truly hungry vs waking up out of habit. Does he let you pull him off after a minute or two? Or does he cry if you shorten the feed? Otherwise if he is eating a lot maybe a growth spurt or something?

Send your H in. He doesn't have the tempting boobs!
Also, some babies just need the night time feeding for a while. One thing that you could try is to nurse him before you go to bed if he's been down a few hours.

It looks like it's starting late tonight (less than an inch) into tomorrow morning (1-3") and tomorrow night into Tuesday is 5-8". The slushy stuff is crap. DS was all excited about the snow too.
I haven't yet starfisher. He seems to be genuinely hungry. He drinks the whole bottle without pausing. I've tried just soothing and he loses it. But that's a good idea, maybe I will give it a try.

Agreed, she calms down much faster for DH in the MOTN.
Today's projects are getting a cord cover for the monitor (who posted that warning?) and painting it to match the nursery, and making a highchair slipcover. I have so much extra purple felt from making the teething guard so I might practice with that color first. I may also make some crockpot applesauce for LO.
I know a few of us had pinned the crockpot chicken and stuffing recipe - I made it last night and it was really good! The stuffing wasn't fluffy like I thought it would be but we liked it.
I think I missed this. Do you know where to find the crockpot chicken and stuffing recipe? That sounds delicious!
Yesterday was crazy, I was pretty much busy all day between X, house cleaning, laundry, and then at night DH and I watched American Sniper. SO good but pretty sad too.
starfisher, that's great that you made progress with cutting out one of the MOTN feedings. We did the same thing, cut from 3, to 2, to 1, to zero the last few nights. Good luck to keep the momentum going!
bluedot, agree with rondackhiker to try having DH try soothing T? That's something that worked for us, but I also agree that he may just still need it.
X didn't wake up until just before 7 which is amazing and now he's playing with his toys while I catch up on here. Today I have to do DH's business taxes and then we have some friends coming over to do 'christmas'.
DH leaves for a convention in Atlantic City tomorrow. He'll be gone until THursday and i'm pretty nervous about being alone. Also, i'm supposed to go to Boston Tuesday for the day for work, but we're supposed to get a huge snow storm so I may have to push the trip back. I don't mind because the idea of both DH and I being out of state, even for a few hours, scares me incase anything happened to X.

I haven't tried the dream feed yet, so maybe it's worth a shot... H was sick with a man cold last night... So worthless he also gives up after 5 minutes trying to put him back to sleep...

Morning ladies! It's currently 437 and LO has been up since 345. And grandpa didn't let me fall into a deep sleep until after midnight. Today is going to be horrific. I'm going to try and put LO back to bed in a while, and if he doesn't im waking the BF up to take over so I can sleep before he goes to work.

Yea he's eating a lot... I need to try to shorten the feed to see... but if I feed him one side vs both he wakes again at 5 vs 6 and it's always a guessing game if he will go back to sleep.
He was sleeping straight through til 5:30 then going back to sleep until 7 over Christmas break... then an upper beluga came and effed it all up
OMG I was just snooping in LO's Amazon wish list and someone bought Benny the Bull! I was not expecting that LOL.
I didn't think it showed you if someone bought items off a wish list. My brother told me only their registries did this. I'll have to check out X's wish list and see if anythings gone
You guys (ciaomama and squirm) I hadn't watched the full forecast until just now. WTF double snowstorm? I'm so glad I can't go to NY for those meetings because I'd have to drive to LaGuardia on Tuesday night.
That would have been horrible because I think north jersey was supposed to have worse conditions than south.
Good morning! Glad you're seeing progress with weaning starfisher. I'm super excited about the coming snow (I'm in Jersey) and they are calling for up to a foot where I am! I hate driving in the crap so if it snows, I want it to shut down the state so I don't have to work. @elf828 what does the monitor cord cover look like? I missed the original post and have been looking for something like this. Thanks!
I've received word that my in laws (all of them) are upset at me for "flipping" on my husbands cousin about car seat safety. This cousin (who I posted about committing welfare fraud months ago) posted a Facebook pic of her 10mo old, front facing and her 3 year old in a backless booster which uses an adult seatbelt. I didn't "flip" on her, I privately sent her articles about safety and asked her to reconsider. Her reply? "She meets weight requirements and my pediatrician says it's fine". I've dropped the issue but now my in laws are acting like I'm a bad guy. Sorry-not-sorry, in laws. It just sucks because my MIL watches Emma and I feel like she's side eyeing me, which I hate because I like her. :0/

How did you hear that they're mad? That sounds like silly he said she said stuff and like the person who told you that is trying to cause drama.
If they act off, ask what is up. If they approach you, tell them "oh! There must be some misunderstanding. I sent her an article I stumbled across and she replied that her pedi said it was okay. No flipping!"
If they don't approach you or act off, I'd ignore it as someone trying to cause drama.

Agreed. If they are legitimately mad, so be it. You were looking out for the safety of her children and went about it in a polite way. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Is my kiddo the only weird one that does this? She LOVES hanging upside down. She stays there for a min, then sits up for a second and leans back again. ETA: this is while sitting on my lap... apparently mickey mouse is far more interesting upside down.
We night weaned using two separate methods. He was doing two feeds. The second feed was always within an hour of wake up time. I tackled that one first since it was most disruptive to both of us. I bumped it back 15 minutes each night and within three or four days he had dropped it. I waited a couple weeks before working on the remaining MOTN feed. Instead of nursing, we did bottle and just put 1/2 ounce less in each night. We got down to 1 ounce before he dropped it altogether. If DS seemed to take issue with the bottle amount, we'd repeat the same amount the next night. It only took a week or so once we committed to a plan. I enlisted DH's help with MOTN bottles but in hindsight I don't think it was necessary. He just happened to have 3 weeks off at Christmas so I jumped at the chance. I have to say, since night weaning our day time sleep has improved which surprised me.
