shellbell, your MIL, I can't imagine, you are amazing for dealing with that.
@all the momma's weaning & struggling with night feedings (hugs). X is three weeks from being one and I haven't introduced milk yet and we still use bottles and only do a sippy with water at meals. Should I start trying to give him BM in a sippy instead of a bottle?! I feel like i've completely missed this.
Also….apparently I need to pay better attention to the weather forecast. We're supposed to get 2' of snow and DH is leaving for his convention so it'll just be me & X. We've lost power before from blizzards so i'm super scared, we'd have no heat and my BM freezer stash would start to melt! Eek!! I'm debating reserving a room at a local hotel incase we do. I figure I can always cancel if we don't?

Will you be able to safely travel to said hotel?
Are you expecting ice? Is your bm in a deep freeze or a fridge freezer? In the event you lose power, don't open the freezer, especially if it's a deep freeze. It'll be fine for quite awhile. Otherwise, I'd out it in a cooler and put it outside where it's probably below freezing, right?

Crapcrapcrap, I didn't even think of my freezer stash. We're in a brick apartment building and I think the chances of losing power are low... but maybe I should have a backup? Someone said ice makes it melt faster? What's the best option short term if we lost power but were snowed in for a while? ETA: Thanks shellbell for answering. and duh to putting it in the snow lol.
shellbell OMG, I'm glad she's gone! You definitely get your choice of reward for surviving that.
rondackhiker Oh poor baby. I hope the tylenol is kicking in!
OMG you guys. Just... OMG. That was the first bite. I have lots more but I think I might save the rest and post on his birthday? And I'll make a collage the put up at his party. He didn't get very messy (apparently I was the same at my 1st birthday) but he definitely liked the cake lol. At one point he was walking around with 2 fistfuls And we have enough left to have some on his birthday with our dinner. And Dessert Works was awesome, mamosey, I didn't even realize how close by it was. I'm definitely recommending them to the church if they ever need a bakery!

DH was supposed to do bedtime tonight, but weaseled out of it. Fine. Whatever. Tomorrow when A is screaming bloody murder, I'm turning my phone off. Either do something to change things or stfu! Who's done? I'm fdone.
shellbell, yes I think i'd be able to get to a hotel if needed. There's one near me and my road is always plowed well because main road and I have a Jeep that's a beast in the snow.
BM is in our fridge freezer. I'm going to plan not to open it, and a friend suggested I get some dry ice before the storm hits tomorrow to put in there too.
I just hate the idea of being here with X alone without DH during this.
I'm hoping for the frosting disaster that follows. Most likely, she will try to pick the whole thing up and throw it on the floor, like she does everything else.
This is what I'm expecting; I'll spend a couple hours perfecting her beautiful little cake, and she will chuck it on the floor in .2 seconds.
When my DS turned one, he did exactly that. I was so looking forward to watching him eat it that I swooped in and put it right back on his high chair. 5 second rule and all that.
blondemum I'm really sorry you're facing this alone. Do you know your neighbors? We joke about the basic humanity thing here, but when we got 7ft in Nov, it was all about neighbors helping neighbors. Even if you don't know your neighbors well, please reach out to them if you need something they can help with. I would have done anything I could for any of my neighbors during our storm. The other thing? You can do this. We're hear to talk you through it if you start to feel alone or panicky.
Maybe tonight you can do some proactive things -- locate flashlights and candles, make sure you know where the shovels/salt/car scrapers are, check your diaper bag. It might make you feel more in control.
shellbell, thank you! I needed to hear that! i'm going to start to go gather some candles and flashlights now. I'll sleep better knowing it's all laid out.
blondemum, that sounds scary to me, too. I agree with shellbell that being proactive will probably help you feel more in control of the situation. We're here if you need us!
2. Looking through an old thread it looks like if you were quoted in the thread, the quoted part of the post remains. This is slightly concerning to me.
OK this measles crap is starting to freak me out. There is a suspected case in the city just north of me. DH works there. Can I keep my kid in a bubble for the next month. Heck, I don't even know if the 12 month shot provides full protection or what. This is nuts. People should vaccinate their kids!!!

Yeah, the information I read said that 90% percent of people will be protected with one shot, but immunity doesn't begin until about two weeks after receiving the first shot.
With the follow up dose here in the few years 99% of people will be protected.
We get our first shot on Thursday, and I totally get your freak out. There is a case or two in Colorado close to us, and tons of the kids at my school are not vaccinated..like over 20%

iwubrory my H's cousin invited me to like a page on FB called "things antivaxxers say" and it is a collection of all the ridiculously stupid shit people post on social media. It is just.... Terrible. Absolutely awful. But I can't look away. I can't believe people are that ignorant.
I'd love to know how many of those southern cali antivaxxer mommies are suddenly having a change of heart regarding mmr.
I'm going to look up that page on fb. My sister's step daughter is an idiot and regularly posts crap like that on fb. Well, I assume she still does, I had to hide her after I couldn't take it anymore.

Add me to the freaking out camp also. (I'm in nor cal) I was just telling DH tonight that I can't wait until DD2 gets her 1 year shots and DD1 gets her boosters next month. I would love to hibernate until then. We are supposed to fly next week.

I read that CA now makes parents of kids in school that opt out of vaccines now have to take a class about them. They said there's a 20% rat of those parents opting back in, which is still not as much as I'd like to see, but that's better than nothing! I like that idea.
