Logan (Boston's international airport) is closing at 7PM with no flights from then through Wednesday AM.
I'm having a problem. I bought these delicious looking bagel thins and I want to eat them. But, I feel like I need to ration my food, just in case. So, do I break into the bagel thins, or save them?
Iam in Colorado, so no were near this storm. I just wanted to say be safe, and don't be that asshole driver in the snow that everyone hates.
None of us will be going out! Basically travel is all shut down through tomorrow - it's going to be 3ft of snow here with essentally white-out conditions. Aiports here were cancelling flight this morning and schools are doing early dismisalls
Although white outs do suck, I'm glad to know that travel is basically shutdown , for safety.

Depends. Do you have other snacks? Could you make it to the store before shit gets real? Will the store have anything left?

New England. We're stocked up here. My company almost never closes but we're making preparations for folks to work from home. Wishing the kids had snow boots so they can go out and play once things calm down. Oh well.
We are in Albany, NY so I don't think we are getting slammed, but we are getting snow. I took tomorrow off to hang out at home with the kids. I am hoping to stop and get wine on the way home tonight.

In Eastern CT where we are supposed to get 18-30 I think? It just started snowing lightly a bit ago. I hate snow, but I'll be okay as long as the damn power stays on. I did fill up my gas tank in case of emergency electronic device charging is needed to keep my sanity.
So Gov Baker (MA) instated a travel ban for tomorrow. H works at a liquor store, and the owners made the decision to close tomorrow (for the first time ever!) so shit is getting real.
They cancelled afternoon activities at school today. I was hoping to get practice in today because the rest of the week prob isn't happening. FFS, it's not supposed to really start till after practice would be over and the kids would be safely home.
Before I even press post, eta just looked out the window, it is starting to flurry.
just got an email that my office is closing early today and is closed tomorrow. but work from home employees still have to work. thats me. guess i found the downside of working from home.

We are 18-30 inches and 45+mph winds.
I just had a fight with DH. The hospital is switching to disaster mode and is looking for residents to spend the night. He offered to walk to the hospital in the morning if needed.
I told him that wouldn't be safe and would rather he spend the night if needed, and he said I was being silly, it's less than a mile.
I feel like 45moh winds plus a freaking blizzard situation mean walking would be dumb as hell.
Um, DH just called. His work (world wide finance company) was looking for people to stay in hotels nearby so that they'd have coverage. Craziness. He's planning to work from home anyway, not sure why that's not good enough.
True story, about 5 years ago (?) we had a bad snow storm in MA that hit the day after Christmas. I was visiting my parents we decided to leave early to get home before the snow really hit. I got a phone call from my boss asking if I wanted to be put up in a hotel to make sure I made it to work on time. I told her no and that I would evaluate the situation about getting to work in the morning. Her response? "Well, if you don't take the hotel, we expect that you will be in work the next day". I lived over an hour away from the office by car (2.5hrs if you take the train) so I would have had to go home from my parents (45 mins) pack and then drive to a hotel. No thank you.
She lived 30 mins away and didn't make it in the next day. I was pissed. Her boss did make it in and was shocked to see me in the office since I live in the part of the state that usually gets the most snow. Well what do you expect when you basically tell me I have to come in or else? Also, my job? Answering the phones in a mini call center type group so it's not like I am an essential employee. It wouldn't surprise me if it was the same company soxgirl07
northernlghts there was no threat to DH at least. I mean, I haven't heard the whole exchange, but he said his pregnant wife and young children needed him home and I think that was the end of it. His boss is usually pretty cool about things, so hopefully it wasn't a big deal. Whatever. They don't pay enough for him to be at their beck and call 24/7.
The regents exam has been canceled. Mayor Diblasio put a ban on non emergency vehicles driving after 11 pm. That's not gonna happen, cab drivers will still be out there.
Well DS1 & I just ran a few errands together while DH and the baby stayed home. The grocery store was a mad house and they were sold out of like everything..milk, eggs, bottled water, snow.tubes.
stopped at the liquor store for more wine...and man is it risky business lugging a toddler into a liquor store!
if someone judges you for bringing your kids in for booze before a blizzard, may their ice scraper break instantaneously next time they really need it.

Im about to get judgey looks bringing a toddler and nb in for some rum... but well momma needs it bad.
The way I see it, is I'll either get the stink eye for bringing my kids into a liquor store, or possibly get cps called for leaving them in the car...I'll deal with the stink eye.
Just saw this, so I'll hop in! We are RI and are due to get slammed with about 2+ feet. I'm pretty stoked about it, but at the same time, we live out in the boonies, and we lose power over any little thing...I'm REALLY hoping our power companies are prepared for this, bc I hate losing power. Dh is gping nuts making sure we have enough Gas for the generator abd the wood is all stacked in the woodshed, etc.
Really, I'm most concerns about having enough food, water, formula & booze in the house.
Another Rhode Islander! We moved to CT 1.5 years ago and I still miss RI. We try to go back a few times a year since it is only a 2 hour drive from where we live now.

Your DH is an idiot. I'm sorry, but that is so dangerous.
I just got the email that the office will be closed tomorrow
Followed quickly by an email from my boss that there will be no WFH to make up hours
I don't understand why they gave me a laptop?
Wait wait wait.... You may want to take a look at your employee handbook. If the office is closed due to inclement weather I am pretty sure they can't force you to take PTO or dock your pay.? That's messed up!!
ETA: I handle Employment Practice Liability claims for the evil empire of insurance.

I did, they can. it sucks
Wow..... That does suck.. I'm sorry!
I edited my other post to add that I handle Employment Practice Liability claims so I've seen a lot of handbooks but I don't think I have ever seen one that allowed the employer to dock pay for office closures beyond the employee's control..

Well, they say we have 2 options as exempt employees in the handbook 1) PTO 2) Unpaid
my boss says option 3 is make up the day, which I would gladly do. Tomorrow, from my house, while H watches the kids.
I think it is because the hospital stays open no matter what so even though the billing office (where I work) is closing the organization is open. IDK, it is just a big pile of
