I need a good list of foods to avoid from a reliable source. Anyone know where I can find one?
I think it just depends on how conservative you want to be. If you're eating food that you wouldn't normally worry about getting a food borne illness from, you should be fine. But that's a pretty liberal approach.
I've always slept on my stomach until it became uncomfortable. Then I'd switch to my side.
+1. Same goes with the back sleeping. My doctor told me it was fine to sleep on my back for as long as I could. There finally came a moment that it stopped feeling good.
I am a side sleeper but late in my last pregnancy I would always wake up on my back. You know, the way they say not to lay...
Is anyone taking anything for nausea? Zofran or Unisom+B12?
I started Diclegis the two days ago due to all day nausea. I don't know if I like it yet. Yesterday was my first day on it (you take it the night before) and I woke up super tired, but my nausea was manageable. Today, I wasn't as tired but it barely touched my nausea. I'm going to up the dose tonight, but I'm nervous since I start school tomorrow and need to function.

The only 2 "zero tolerance" avoidance foods I do are alcohol and unprocessed foods. So no raw honey, raw milk, raw cheese etc. However, I will eat the shit out of goat cheese and feta cheese bc I've literally never seen an unprocessed one anywhere at our grocery store, even in the artisanal cheese section.
My Dr only asked me to stay away from lunch meat (but nobody told me to the first time around so I had a few slices of turkey) and to only eat fresh foods. Nothing sitting out for hours (like at a picnic or if a buffet doesn't look fresh)

+1. The concern for some things is listeria/E. Coli which of course there were recalls on the TJ's peanut butter (that I was eating) when pregnant with DD. Recalls for spinach/cantaloupe happen all the time. Avoid the big no-nos but definitely don't worry too much about what you eat.

Same here
I never sleep on my belly... until last week. Your body should let you know when you can't do it anymore by making you uncomfortable. It's kind of hard to force yourself to sleep in one position, I flip all over and did with DD too.

I did it in my last trimester with DS but what about first trimester?
I'm reading a lot of differing opinions.
I looked into this a lot too, and from what I gathered is it isn't any more dangerous then you cleaning without gloves and getting cleaning products on your hands. I personally had my hair colored last week but got some thing that will grow out well so I can avoid coloring as much as possible. I wouldn't have done it if there was any chance of me not looking ridiculous if I didn't, but there wasn't! I am naturally brown and had been coloring my hair red. So I got some really natural highlights to help ease the transition back up brown.

I'm booked in to go tomorrow and change my green and blue hair into something more adult. Thinking if she just brushes colour on and I get minimal on my scalp I'll be OK.

This might make me sound terrible but it wasn't for sleeping. I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow that I booked three months ago. I went ahead and canceled anyways.
I would have seen if they could do a pregnancy massage. They just have you on your side instead of belly.

I use pregnancy as an opportunity to find out my natural hair color. I'm pretty sensitive to the smell of hair dye anyways so I don't want to do it pregnant.

My hair dresser said to wait til after first tri. And she told me they have a new line without ammonia. Ask your hair dresser if they have a line without ammonia.

Is anyone taking extra folic acid other than what's inside prenatal vitamins? How much more?
I only take folic acid and vitamin D, not prenatal vitamins, but you should be having at least 400mcg of folic acid a day. If that isn't covered by your prenatal vitamins, you should be taking more. But to be honest, I cant imagine a prenatal vitamin not having 400mcg of folic acid.

I take 800 total. The vitamin I'm taking only has 400 but I have a folate deficiency so I've been taking a total of 800 a day for a few months. I also have to take extra b12 I was doing 1000 but my levels came back a little high so I'm back down to 500 a day.

Is the Diclegis working for you? I took Zofran last time, but want to know if Diclegis is better. (Hoping I won't have to take either.)
I'm probably going to want to get a flu shot, aren't I?
I've never gotten a flu shot, and never had the flu. But with a hindered immune system, I guess there's a first time for everything, and I'd rather it be the shot...
Mine took a big dive after having DD. I ended up with Shingles at 25 when DD was 3 months old. Flu shot it is this time.
Does anyone know for the Tdap shot, is it expected you just get one, or is it only if you're past due? I'm not due until July of 2016 for one.
"The CDC recommends Tdap for:
Pregnant women. The CDC recommends that women get Tdap during each pregnancy, preferably between 27 and 36 weeks' gestation, regardless of when they last had the shot."
I'll ask my doctor about it though, I think if you aren't pregnant it's every 10 years. I had mine at the end of 2012 so it's been less than 3 years at this point.

Ok so we can get flu shot while pregnant? I forgot to ask the nurse at my appointment the other day. I just never did it last year and I got the flu

I keep seeing commercials about Zofran causing issues in babies like cleft lip, etc. I took it while pregnant with DS and he's fine. But it still makes me nervous.
I've seen them too. DD is fine, but you're right. It makes me nervous, but I couldn't function without it. I did cut my pills in half though so that made me feel a bit better that I wasn't taking too much.

Yes! I feel much better today. My nausea has lessened and I don't feel as tired today. I started with 1/2 the dose but I definitely need the full dose. It's a great option, but hopefully you don't need it.
