I voted SS. I typically don't ask, but in the other place there was someone who posted a few times that was anti-vax/tip-toed the vax line (I can't remember), if she would have become more frequent or wanted to join a G2G I was going to bring up the issue by asking everyone if they vaccinate.

We vaccinate as well. But my DD doctor and daycare said its the kids who don't vaccinate that run the greater risk of getting something... so who knows!!

This is something that I just thought of with the upcoming playdates for our group. Vaccines are important to me as well. I will ask moving forward for sure and plan to keep my babe around vaccinated kids as much as possible. Happy to see all of the mommies here are vaccinating.

We vaccinate as well I feel strongly about it. My SIL forgot to get her 4 year old the flu vaccine and then her daughter ended up getting the flu. If she had the vaccine she may not have gotten the flu, I just find it very irresponsible as a parent to not protect your children.

Okay I'm glad to see I'm of same mind here. I vaccinate 100% it is a concern for me and probably others who have younger babies who can't get certain ones until they are older.
I think I'm going to skip playdates within the outer group....too much risk.

They're at higher risk to catch something, but they're also the ones to then spread it to people that can't get vaccinated due to health issues or children too young to be vaccinated yet. Look at the current measles outbreak. I feel so strongly about this matter. I think it is completely irresponsible of a parent to chose to not vaccinate their children. I think unvaccinated children should not be allowed in school (unless it's because of a medical condition that prevents them from being vaccinated), & I think they should be held responsible when an outbreak can be traced back to them. Maybe I feel too strongly about this, but so be it.
I'm really happy to see the majority here are pro - vax!

Do you mean with your FB group? I'm having a slow, blonde day (& I can say that because I'm a natural blonde )

EDIT: Punctuation
No, it's my horrible texting and loathing of spell check and proof reading. I will skip gatherings with fb, looking forward to the ones here.
I'm definitely pro vaccination. But I don't and probably never will ask someone if they vaccinate their children before a playdate. I fear the anti-vax movement because of the large-scale consequences, with things like measles and whooping cough coming back. But I am not necessarily afraid that my child will catch one of these diseases from an unvaccinated child at a play date. Especially since we vaccinate.

Agreed with my older children. But taking my younger child with me to a play date for my 19 mth old, I'm not sure. I think I will be parent now, and ask.

I would totally go crazy if a mom didn't vaccinate and brought her kid around a kid less than 2 years old. A lot of vaccines aren't given until a year. Just no. If you don't want to vaccinate- you should have to stay in your home (unless a medical reason like an allergy).
We fully vaccinate. I have friends who for legitimate medical reasons cannot be vaccinated against specific vaccines. We still go around them with new babies. Others I try to avoid until baby is over 2 months old. Pertussis is in the area and while mine won't be fully protected until a year at least if she gets sick after 2 months it won't be as traumatizing an experience. I feel everyone should vaccinate to protect those who really cannot be vaccinated, especially the babies.

We fully vacinate and do flu shots too. We havent had play dates with anyone out of the family/close friends circle yet, so the need to ask hasn't arisen. I did catch flack from some when L was really little because I refused to let anyone who did not have updated Tdap vaccine hold him (ie my sister who doesnt keep to the CDC recommend vac schedule). I also refused to let him be around people who smoke without asking them to wash their hands, change their shirts and restrain from putting their nasty smoke breath in my babies face....
Yes we plan to vaccinate also! It is good to know we are all on the same page and I imagine I will ask people on future playdates. I have had two people at my work who planed on not vaccinating their children. Both ended up doing the more drawn out version of the vaccination schedule, but before that I told them there was no way I would ever allow my children around theirs.
Also speaking of Tdap, when I asked my doctor last week about it (as I'm 30 weeks pregnant) he told me I would get it at the hospital after I delivered. However, I read that you should get it while pregnant as it helps to protect your LO after they are born. Did you guys get this while pregnant?
scarneae yes, I got while the TDAP while pregnant. I've never heard about getting it at the hospital after delivery. I just went to Kroger pharmacy and got it there. Your husband and any immediate caregivers for LO should get it also.

scarneae I got the tdap booster from my general practioner at 32 weeks. The cdc current recommendation is that you get it while pregnant and with each subsequent pregnancy in order to pass antibodies to your baby in utero since they are unable to get the first dose until 8 weeks. I asked our pediatrician to redo vaccines for both my teenagers as well and he was glad to since pertussis is so bad in Cincinnati /Anderson Township even though both were still technically covered. Definitely ask anyone who will be spending facetime with your baby to get a booster.
