Breathing life into this thread but do you plan on doing a baby book/memory book for your baby? I was about 20 weeks with DS when I started filling out his so I might pick one up this weekend for this baby. Not that I filled DS's out completely but I think I did a pretty good job.
I received one as a gift last time and never filled it out so I won't do it this time either. Mom fail.
My mom filled mine all the way out...my brother's has like maybe three pages done I spent so much time on DS's I'd feel bad if I didn't do one for this baby.

singingsea I did a *pretty* decent job on C's until her 1st birthday. Haven't touched it since. DH is the second child and has an awful relationship with his mom. He STILL talks about how he doesn't have a baby book. So I'll be buying the exact same one for this baby and hoping I can complete it as much as I did with hers to avoid any sort of issues it could theoretically cause (DH is a grudge holder, if you can't tell). ETA: this is the one I used/will use. It has a sarcastic type tone... Perfect for us. (Sorry, the pic will be huge, I'm mobile)

annapunkalunka - I've been filling out the Belly Book version of that book for my pregnancy. Maybe I'll have to buy that Baby Book one too!! I like when things match!
Then again I bought this and have completely failed at filling it out
This is what I use. Does it get written in every day? Absolutely not! But when DD does something cute or monumental, I know I have a place to document it.

I need to get my shit together. DS has been saying hilarious things lately.

I've been thinking about doing a yearly shutterfly photo book. I seriously have failed when it comes to printing out pics. How much does yours usually run you?

singingsea I made one this past summer after C's birthday of her first year. It came out to be like 50 pages and was about $75 and I used 40% coupon and I think I had a $20 off thing, too. They're expensive but I'm SO happy with how it came out. I'd love to do one every year, but even if I don't I'm happy to have her first year documented in such a way.

I made a baby album for DS's first year but then never printed out pics after that. I think this is my project before DS2 gets here

singingsea, it has varied by year.. I put it together throughout the year but then I usually wait for a coupon or a sale to make the purchase. They have 40-50% off sales all the time! Ive been making them for ~7 years now so I have also come to the realization that the book I put together is completely worth the money. We have ours displayed on metal plate holder things on the wall in our living room and I absolutely love that i can pull one down at any time and look back. I am terrible at actual scrapbooking so this is amazing!!!
I'm not one of those that likes to scrapbook, so the thought of keeping a baby book sounded horrible to me. I chose a keepsake box instead. I have his ultrasounds, newborn pics and first outfit in there at the moment. On the inside o the lid, I write his milestones (i.e. Walking, smiling, laughing etc...).
I bought it from etsy. (This is not my son's name btw but I can't say enough about how much I love it!) ours has a circus elephant on it.
Not a baby thing per se, but I came across this list and it's been helping me immensely today as I try to actually make some decisions on things that we need. It's a great starting point, at least.

That's a lot of things. You won't need all that. 5 sleeping gowns??? My DS lost his cord thingy at 3 days and I had 0 gowns. You basically, in my opinion, just need pyjamas for the first weeks and outside stuff like little hats. Also, I had one waterproof mattress and it worked out fine. Anyway, I could go one, lol. It's a lot of things to buy. You can buy the essentials and get more when she gets here and you'll know your needs and her size.

Yea, I figured it was probably a bit *too* much stuff, but it was nice to have a starting place for essentials and just something to kind of check things off of as I go.
While I'm here - someone tell me about the K'Tan. Is it really as easy to use as it looks?
Yes! super quick and easy. The traditional wraps looked overwhelming and tedious to me. You throw it on, put the kid in and wrap the sash around you.
Thanks for that. I had a wrap thingie that I never used because I found it too complicated. I've been thinking of getting the k'tan this time around. The pattern I want is not available in Canada though. I might have to have it send to a UPS store in the US and drive to get it.
