I do not have to work today because I'm only doing 30 hours for six weeks as I ease back in, thank goodness because it has been a long week! I am also sick and have been coughing so much my c-section incision (which hasn't hurt in weeks) is so sore.
My ebf baby who normally poops 2-3times per day has not pooped in 3 days until now (3:00am) and is now wide awake after a diaper change and mom's coughing isn't helping as I try to get him back to sleep. I'm glad he pooped some (not as much as I was expecting) because he has been absolutely miserable from gas, I started gas drops and that bas seemed to help some but still I hate seeing him miserable.
I feel you on the work stress. It was my first week back and I'm only doing 20 hours and I'm beat! I haven't been able to get on here or do much of anything.
Oh how I dread the back to work transition! I hope it gets much easier for you all. spikesmom You make me think of the commercials where the mom/dad open the door and say that they're going to have to take a sick day, and then you see they're talking to their kids. If only, right?

LO refused sleep until midnight and is not going back down after his "motn" feed at 5 am. I blame H who last night said (after staying up until midnight playing computer games) "well, at least you can sleep past 5 am." I'm kinda ragey. I'm in the *perfect* mood for spending my morning at the SSA office!

Lol I have seriously thought that myself this week!
I am excited that my first 100oz of donated milk is going out today and I am grateful my supply has been more than enough to feed my baby plus donate but I really wish I could share my excess supply with all the moms who need it because it is painful. It seems like a never ending cycle, I try not to pump except when I have to for work but I get so engorged and leak everywhere and end up pumping in the morning and/or evening just to relieve the pressure. Yesterday I pumped 13ozs at 4:00am after I fed lo bc my boobs were still rock hard and leaking...this morning same story. Any tips on how to get my supply to regulate a little better? (I actually feel bad typing this bc I know so many moms would be so happy to have this problem, I feel guilty complaining but it is truly painful)
My mostly good sleeper has been inching back when he goes to sleep and waking up. Normally I wouldn't mind except I have a cold and blowing my nose one handed while nursing is no fun. Lo seems to be fighting it pretty well. He nursed & slept almost all day yesterday. Which I realize is likely why he's not sleeping for longer stretches.
I hope the work transition starts to get easier! I'm going back next week but I only work part time. You guys are doing great!
spikesmom that's so amazing how much extra your donating. I'm sure it's quite painful to be engorged, if I don't get a chance to pump on time I can definitely get engorged and only like 3 ounces come out. I can only imagine 13 has to be quite a bit more painful. I think if you want to start to regulate you shouldn't completely empty the Breast. So pump to relieve enough pressure that it is tolerable but no more. After a couple days your body should start to make less.
I think Liam is all out of sorts when DH isn't here. He seems to get this way whenever H is on a trip. I don't know if it's because I start to get stressed which makes him fussy or if he gets fussy and then I get stressed. I try to stay as calm as H is during his fussy times, but I'm definitely not him.
Fingers crossed he comes home tonight or tomorrow morning. He already promised to let me sleep however long I need to Sunday morning to catch up. He was up every hour last night and wouldn't sleep anywhere but on my chest. Very unusual for him to not sleep in his RNP.
I apologize in advance for any grammar/spelling error and run-on sentences.
Oh and I just saw on the news that a daycare (not sure where) had five infants with the measles. This shit is spreading and I swear if my kid gets this before he is able to be vaccinated I'm going to be so fucking pissed.

When do they get MMR? 1 year?
It's 2 doses and the second isn't until 4-6 YEARS.
Eta fuck the people who are spreading this! I'm sorry for the language, but that's exactly how I feel. It's bullshit.

So, the first dose doesn't protect at all or does it? This requires that type of language. It is fucking bullshit. We should not be worried about fucking measles or any other disease that a vaccine has been tested, tried, and true to eradicate them. Sooooo angry to see that it affected a daycare. Five fucking infants. Ugh, and this is just the beginning.

spikesmom- I hope you start to feel better and the work transition gets easier. tacocat- I whole heartedly agree. Screw them! Those poor babies in quarantine and others they put at risk.
When we were kids vaccinations were a requirement in order to attend public school. Or daycare. Now all these kids are at risk and it is spreading like wildfire. It is fucking terrifying.
This is what I took from the CDC website regarding immunizations:
Measles antibodies develop among approximately 95% of children vaccinated at age 12 months and 98% of children vaccinated at age 15 months (CDC, unpublished data). Studies indicate that, if the first dose is administered no earlier than the first birthday, greater than 99% of persons who receive two doses of measles vaccine develop serologic evidence of measles immunity (54)(CDC, unpublished data).
Two doses of MMR vaccine separated by at least 1 month (i.e., a minimum of 28 days) and administered on or after the first birthday are recommended for all children and for certain high-risk groups of adolescents and adults.
MMR is the vaccine of choice when protection against any of these three diseases is required on or after the first birthday, unless any of its component vaccines is contraindicated. The purpose of the two-dose vaccination schedule is to produce immunity in the small proportion of persons who fail to respond immunologically to one or more of the components of the first dose. Studies indicate that two doses of measles vaccine are necessary to develop adequate population immunity to prevent measles outbreaks among school-aged and older persons.
Almost all persons who do not respond to the measles component of the first dose of MMR vaccine will respond to the second dose. The second dose is not generally considered a booster dose because a primary immune response to the first dose provides long-term protection. Although some persons who develop normal antibody titers in response to a single dose of MMR vaccine will develop higher antibody titers to the three component vaccines when administered a second dose of vaccine, these increased antibody levels typically do not persist.

So basically, the first shot "should" cover most babies (95%) unless they are resistant to the vaccine, which is why they give the second dose (99% will, be immune). You could get the two doses back to back as long as there is a minimum of one month between shots. I'm assuming many people will push up their second dose if this outbreak continues. I do feel better now knowing their first dose is so effective.
jjh1119 Say woosah...I hope your husband gets home soon! It was in Illinois where the outbreak was. I share your sentiments tacocat! I also read that people born before 1957 may not have had effective vaccinations. Hey, grandparents!

I am exhausted today. DS cluster fed until 1am but then projectile vomited all down my back. Then I finally got him to sleep and the fire alarms went off because DH burned popcorn. Luckily I got him to sleep again but I didn't get to bed until 3 and was up at 6. Now i am at work, needing something to prop my eyes open.
I hope this outbreak gets some parents in gear. Measles is no joke, man.
I have a friend/work acquired person who has twin 3 year old boys who aren't vaccinated and in daycare. She is pregnant now. I wonder what she is thinking now.

What's up with the "like" feature on here? I press thumbs up then when I come back later my name is gone from what I pressed like on. But it's still highlighted... I've tried to like stuff on the birthday thread like 4x now.
This measles outbreak is scary! I woke up to the story on the news about the daycare. I feel like it's only a matter of time before it gets out of hand.
And F my husband who did not follow directions and put the milk I pumped last night in the fridge. 2 ounces wasted. UGH!!!!!!!!
tacocat She, along with every other parent who made that choice, should be thinking "oh shit, what have I done?"
lovebuggies12 I had the same issue. I wonder if it's for ease of viewing, so all the love tits don't break up the pages. Does everyone get notifications when posts are thumbed up?
I managed to set my alarm and then turn it off again by accident so instead of a 5:45 wake up call I woke up at 6:20. No time for pumping so I had to do it first thing at work this morning. I'm glad I have an office that I can jut shut my door but it's still annoying to start the day off schedule. Oh and for some unknown reason I have notice since 2 months pp that the amount of farting I do is worse than it was during pregnancy.

Oh guys I forgot to mention that my boss said she recommended me for a permanent position! She said they hopefully have approval by April. Fingers crossed it gets approved!
I took LO to visit her dad at work. The coworkers who were parents were careful to use hand sanitizer before approaching or kept away saying that their kids had brought home a cold. Single coworkers were more likely to just reach out to touch. And how is it ok for one of the male coworkers, whom I've met several times over the years, to ask if I was breastfeeding?
Oh yeah, i forgot to share this from Wednesday--on my first full day back to work, my husband managed to watch LO, clean the entire house, including kitchen and bathrooms, mop and vacuum all the floors, do the laundry, and vacuum all the couch cushions. Pretty much a badass. Apparently I need to step it up.
