I just had without a doubt the most stupid argument with my mom and I needed to share with all of you. We were out to dinner for happy hour with my H and her and it was really hard towards the end to not yell at her to shut the F up. Here's how it went down:
Mom- "I was watching the news this morning and they said that swaddling causes SIDs." Me- "Well that's not exactly the truth, it's that people swaddle their babies and put them on their stomachs or they flip onto their stomachs and suffocate." Mom- "No, that's not what they're talking about, it's because they're swaddled and overheat!" Me- "No, it's about them being on their stomachs while swaddled and being unable to flip themselves over." Mom- "You're not listening to me, it's not about them being in their crib it's about them being swaddled." Me- "Are you not hearing me? I literally just said they're swaddled while being on their stomachs. I just read an article about it last night." Mom- "Well you can't believe everything you read. I watched the news this morning and they said it's because they overheat."
DH was just sitting in the middle of us laughing at the whole conversation, watching me get more and more exasperated and trying not to yell in the middle of the restaurant. This is my life folks, this is my life. haha
Only at 99 so far thank goodness. Sadly my body just sucks at getting rid of crap. Just need to stay on top of my meds and hopefully tomorrow I will be back down in the 97s.

mcktymck you can't believe everything you read but you should believe everything in the news? Wtf. I'll take well researched articles over biased media trying to make a headline any day.

Haha that's exactly what my response was "and you can't believe everything you see on TV." I mean seriously, you think if I see something about a study linking swaddling to SIDs I'm NOT going to look more into it, especially since I've got a baby coming in a couple months?

OMG your mom and mine must be separated at birth. Almost every day she has some Debbie Downer "study" she heard about on TV or read from a media source that somehow applies to my life or lifestyle. I think we need to sit them both down in front of John Oliver's segment on Scientific Studies! If you haven't seen it, it is on YouTube!
I am just catching up on this now so I didn't see the original post but from others' posts I can gather the general idea. cocobellaf I hope you sincerely do reach out to your OB and get a referral for other help. I don't know you from Adam outside of this forum but I can tell you that you matter more to others than you could possibly imagine.
Suicide is the reason I lost my husband. I knew he was depressed but didn't know until it was too late how truly bad it was. Of course his loss of life is beyond tragic in itself, but what he has left behind is an enormous group of people grieving in an indescribable way. His funeral was the largest funeral that the funeral home had ever seen because of how many lives he had touched. I say this because you may have many feelings of worthlessness or that the world would be better without you, but I can assure you that so many people, more people than you will know, would disagree.
