Anyone else dealing with 45 min naps? DS did and I can't remember when it started. I tried everything to no avail and then it magically stopped at 6 months. I think I am just going to accept it this time.
Sometimes. Usually her morning nap in the crib is decent but her other naps will be short if I put her in. So I cheat and nap her in a carrier to get longer sleep. She's going to hate daycare....

If on me, naps are nice and long. If in crib, I would love 45min. Ds1 was 45min till 5-6mo as well.

I get one good nap mid day because I swaddle her and put her in her RNP and another long mid day nap on me. The rest are short!

Yes, mine are typically 20-30 min except one long one a day.

I need sleep help. DS is taking decent naps during the day. His night time sleep is cap though. It was fine but for about a week now he is up every 2 hours (when he easily does 3 to 4 during the day). Days and nights are not mixed up. I tried Co sleeping a bit so I could sleep more but I'm afraid it's made him want to eat more at night which causes his reflux to act up. How do I get him to eat less at night? H thinks we should let him cry it out. I don't think that will work nor do I think it's healthy. Am I wrong? He will be 6 weeks on Thursday.

I would not no CIO at 6 weeks. Unfortunately, I think up every two hours for a breastfed baby is kind of normal ( sucky but normal) we are hitting 8 weeks on Wednesday and just recently started getting a nice stretch before the first wake up. The only way I know how a baby will eat less at night is if they are getting most of thier calorie s during the day. I also know @babcaps has said its more brain development at this age and not a full belly that helps them sleep at night.

We were up every 2 hours until 8 or 9 weeks sadly.

gahorseygal, sleep is developmental and although food will play a little part, it won't play a big role in length of sleep at night. But at 6 weeks, every 2 hours is still normal even if he naps well during the day. I'm in your same boat, but now at 8 weeks, we are starting to get a nicer stretch. The EARLIEST you could CIO is 8 weeks and that is VERY controversial. 12 weeks or 3 months is fine but for breastfed babies you can still expect 1-2 wake ups despite teaching self-soothing and CIO. I think what has helped here the most is that I slept in the living room last night and that got me 840pm-1:30am!! then i stayed in his room and it was back to 2hr!
DS2 would not go to sleep last night. He would settle, fall asleep and as soon as I laid him down he would pop awake again. This went on from 10:30pm to 12:15am and I just wanted to go to sleep. He would do this thing where he would thrash and wave his arms all mad and rub his face all crazy. When I would hold him he would do the same right as he was falling asleep. They were like seizures (but obviously not). I finally swaddled him super tight and he slept from 12:30am to 7:30am.
Anyone else's baby do that thrashing when they are trying to fall asleep?

DD would violently throw her head from side to side. I ended up having to put crib bumpers in because she would wiggle around at night to where her head was near the side and she ended up smacking her head when trying to get back to sleep.

Oh no! Something to look out for as he gets older I guess.

Mine. I can't get him to sleep unless he's swaddled. I'm dreading the day he starts rolling and we have to stop! Our sleep is going to go to crap at that point.
Are a lot of people still rocking to sleep to go to bed at night? I can work the drowsy but awake angle during morning and first afternoon nap ( we rock to drowsy) but to be put down at night it seems rocking until for really alseep is a must. We didn't break this habit with DD until 5 months - hoping to do it sooner but how soon is soon?

I still nurse/ rock/ pat/ whatever to sleep all the time. I could probably count on 1 hand the number of times he's put himself to sleep. However, I've seen him stir and go back to sleep in the night so I'm not too worried about his sleep habits yet.

I've seen LO do this as well during naps. H made a comment to me about spending to much time in her room when putting to bed. Sometimes it can take an hour because she will pop awake when being out down - I will usually put some effort into not picking her up and patting/shushing/doing whatever tonget her to sleep but end up picking up and rocking in the end. My guess is to work the drowsy awake during the day and maybe if she gets a handle on that eventually, then the night will come? I'm only slightly bothered by the amount of time it takes - I know it will change eventually. Thanks for answering me ladies

I may not have a great night time sleeper, but he DOES at least reliably fall asleep between 7:30-8:30pm for a good 4 hours and in the last 7 nights, he's done comfort nursing to sleep, wakes up but then puts himself to sleep from a drowsy to sleep. I have hope.

Yep. Everytime he's starting to get a bit overtired. If I make sure to get him down for a nap/bed before he starts getting fussy it's easy, once he gets passed the fussing and starts crying it a big ordeal that takes much longer.
I am counting my lucky stars(and probably jinxing myself) that I have been able to put lo down for bed wide awake and he puts himself to sleep since the night we brought him home. Minus maybe a handful of days where he's been overtired. Today I had perfect timing as he was just starting to get tired and he was out in 5 minutes! To counteract the awesome night time sleep he will only nap on me or while moving. I need to get my crib mattress back from my parents so I can start trying to put him in his cribs for naps.
