Well I feel disgusting. I tried on the shorts I wore post partum with DS and couldn't get them over my thighs. I really don't want to have to buy new clothes.
Maybe they'll fit when your new LO is here and the extra water goes away.
I'm having a pity party today. DS1 looks awful. His face is completely swollen and it's breaking my heart. On the other hand, he's treating me like absolute shit. I feel bad reprimanding him though when he obviously doesn't feel well. DH is out running errands and I'm exhausted and I just want to curl into a ball and cry.
soultrane I'm so sorry! It must be so hard to see him so swollen. I hope that he feels better soon and starts treating you nicer. Sending you hugs! ❤️❤️
My breasts are so engorged I cried last night in the shower. I am terrible at Manually expressing. I ended up resorting to pumping. I had an oversupply with dd1 - and it already seems like I will this round too... Which makes pumping a terrible idea. But it was so necessary. I'm going to spend some time googling block feeding. I did it with dd1, but I have no memory of the timing.
Dd2 is wonderful. It makes me realize what a difficult newborn dd1 must have been, and how hard my recovery was after delivery. I didn't know any better, and I guess ignorance is bliss!
I feel like my milk supply is already dwindling and it's stressing me out so much. Maybe I forget how much milk you produce the first few weeks but I'm not feeling "full" ever. I think it's from the medication I had to take to help my uterus clamp down because of my excessive bleeding, I don't know. We need to introduce a bottle so I can pump and really see how much I'm making but I wanted to wait until 3 weeks since she's having issues latching.
Also, anyone know how much BM to put in a bottle for a two week old? Not sure how much to thaw.

I was soooooo engorged and the LC told me to pump, I was worried I'd have an oversupply but ironically I am now worried about the under supply. So hard to train your body to make just want you want it to!!
Also, any tips other than gas drops to help with gas? After 2 weeks of not crying at all, LO has had bad gas for the past few hours and has been fussing/crying NONSTOP. So sad to see her in pain and so uncomfortable.

Don't even think about it yet... I wore my maternity clothes last time until at least 6 weeks. It took a WHILE to get back to my normal clothes. A long while.
I have a question for those of you who already have outside babies: my feet are more swollen now then they were for most of my pg. I'm 3 days pp. Is this normal??
Flair Underwood, in my experience yes. I had mild postpartum swelling with both pregnancies despite having little to no swelling while pg. I assumed it was due to the epidural/IV with DS1 but I had the same thing with DS2 and nobody was ever concerned. It's a good excuse to prop your feet up and let your H wait on you for a bit!

Same here, along with my hands. I am also experiencing numbness. I called my OB and they want me to monitor my blood pressure. They said it's rare but you can develop pre e after delivery but most likely it's pregnancy induced carpal tunnel even though it didn't show up until after delivery.

I would start with an ounce, you can always give her more but I would hate to waste breastmilk. If you really don't want to introduce a bottle right now though you could pump and freeze it.

I just bought new shorts yesterday because I've been wearing maternity jeans and it's so dang hot in Texas. With DS, I could button my regular jeans at two weeks. This time, can't get them over my thighs. I'm trying not to worry about it, since it should be the least of concerns.

Our pediatrician said to give the recommended dose before each feeding. But that some moms feel like they work, and some don't think they do. I've used them, and I'm not sure if they work or not...

We are at the beach today! It's gorgeous out and no sign of baby yet so it was a good opportunity to have a family beach day! It's great having 3 adults and 1 kid to watch!

M was born on Sunday and today is the first day the swelling in my feet has gone down at all. I had no swelling during my pregnancy but the nurse I saw yesterday said that this is normal. I did go see a midwife at my OB practice about my numb leg, but she had no idea what might be causing it. So she is having me meet with the anesthesiologist on Wednesday, we will see if he has any answers.

Thanks for the info, greysonsmom and vivela! I'll check my BP later today just to be safe.
Also - those of you with NEW newborns. TTMA how much they are sleeping during the day. DS is fussing when he needs to eat, but i have not seen his eyes open all day except for a few seconds. I wasn't worried until my over anxious DH asked if all this sleeping was okay. He's pooping, peeing and eating regularly just constantly sleeping.
Tell me this is what 3 day olds do (and forgive my paranoia)....

Yes! I'm 5 days pp and my feet get crazy swollen. Far more than before delivery. I spoke to my OB and she said to keep pounding the water as much as possible. She mentioned calling her back next Friday (that would be 11-12 days pp) if I still wasn't seeing improvement.

My two week old does this! I did not remember how much newborns sleep! I think I've seen her eyes for two minutes total in the last 24 hours.

my week old is doing the same thing. The pedi says it takes a lot of newborns about two weeks to start turning their clocks around, so they sleep for long stretches during the day.

It was 90s here as well. We took DD to an art festival where she had her face painted and she got her caricature drawn.
I feel like this is the last weekend with just the three of us. I've been having contractions since yesterday and though I know this can happen for weeks, I just have a feeling.

H went home with DD1 do now it's just me and the newborn. It's so quiet and I miss them already. I may have cried when they left. Hopefully we can go home tomorrow.

Colic calm. It works wonders! You can get it at toys r us I believe. It's all natural and black so I would recommend a bib when you use it! It helps with gas, reflux and much more! DD was very gassy and this was the only thing that touched it. Gas drops never worked for her. She had lots of stomach issues so it didn't always make it 100% better but it did help a lot. I am actually wanting to buy some just to have one hand for this one.
Oh also the first time we gave it to her she needed that double dose it talks about like give a dose then 10 minutes later another or something like that. After that though she just got one dose when needed.
The doc called in a steroid for DS1 and his swelling is finally starting to go down a bit. At its worst, his left eye was completely swollen shut. I may post a pic on the sub-board cause this shit is crazy.
On a much funnier note, he's been all about playing Hungry Hungry Hippos today and said that baby bro is a Hungry Hungry Hippo since he's on an every-2-hour schedule today. We're trying to find the humor through the chaos!

Ok major vent-
I am seriously annoyed with my husband right now. He has been complaining all day about how he was so wound up last night that he couldn't sleep at all, and how he's so so tired. First of all, I haven't had longer than a 2.5 hour stretch of sleep or slept more than 6 hours in an entire day since 5/11, so don't talk to me about tired. And second, you're basically telling me that you were up and awake, but laid in bed instead of coming to take the baby and let me sleep even once!
So then we had to go over to my in-laws house this afternoon since its my MILs birthday. DH needed to run over to his shop to get something his dad needs, so he leaves and comes back, leaving me with his mom. We finally get to leave and it's about 3:30, and I'm complaining since I didn't get any lunch and ask of he wants to stop and grab something. Turns out while he was running to his shop, he stopped and got a sub! So he left me alone with his mom for like 45 minutes (ugh!), ate lunch without even getting me anything, and wasn't even going to tell me, except that I complained and wanted to get food.
So now we need to switch the laundry to the dryer, clean bottles, and it's 7:00 and I still haven't gotten real food (I had a snack) and where is DH? Sleeping!
woodengirl07, I would rage. He needs a major wake-up call. If he isn't willing to take the initiative, then I think you should plan a few hours for yourself and tell him that he's on duty on x day at x time. You need some time to recharge!
